Def Jam Releases its Fall Album Lineup
Friday, June 2, 2006
By: Kenny Rodriguez
Def Jam Recordings has released its fall lineup schedule, including albums by all-star artists Nas, The Roots, Young Jeezy, and Fabolous.
The Roots, who signed to Jay-Z’s imprint Def Jam Left, have already begun promoting their first Def Jam release by touring around the country – including last month’s two-day performance at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
Meanwhile Florida native Rick Ross’s first single “Hustlin” has received nationwide radio spins, and Atlanta-based rapper Young Jeezy has been making cameos on popular songs such as Christina Milan’s “Say I.”
But perhaps the most anticipated album is by Queensbridge artist Nas, who recently announced the grandiose title of his forthcoming LP as “Hip-Hop Is Dead.”
The following is the list of releases, assuming there are no push-backs or delays:
Rick Ross, “Port of Miami” … Aug. 11
The Roots, “Game Theory” … Aug. 29
Young Jeezy, [untitled] … Sept. 12
Nas, “Hip-Hop Is Dead” … Sept. 19
Lady Sovereign, [untitled] … Oct. 3
Fabolous, [untitled] … Oct. 10
-----------------------------------------------------------------
My thoughts: should be some good ****. Ross will come out with an album that will be playing heavily at the clubs while The Roots and Nas are gonna be comeing hard with some nice ass albums. Fabolous might do his thing and put out a decent album. Looks good..
