View Full Version : Which fighter had the best career, Holy or Lewis? dodge 02-10-2005, 06:23 PM Who had the best career? borikua 02-10-2005, 06:26 PM Who had the best career? Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield. tracylee 02-10-2005, 06:33 PM Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield. I agree. I love them both, and even though they both started boxing at a young age, I think Holyfield not only accomplished much more, but he was also at one time a household name..even before I became a fan of boxing I KNEW who he was and had heard his name over and over. Although I adore Lewis I cant say the same for him :( and Holyfield is a definate for the I.B.H.O.F. where Lewis is somewhat questionable, in my opinion anyway. I hope Lewis is inducted, but I KNOW Holyfield will be. AintGottaClue 02-10-2005, 06:51 PM lennox lewis blows holyfield way better Dynamite76 02-13-2005, 04:42 PM Evander over Lennox by a slight nod.The two undisputed titles help. Pullcounter 02-13-2005, 04:48 PM Holyfield had more entertaining fights and made more money. enadeus 02-13-2005, 04:50 PM Lewis because he knew when it was time to retire. Sir_Jose 02-13-2005, 05:10 PM Lewis. 1. Holyfield lost more big fights than he won. 2. Lewis still has all his money 3. Lewis got out with all his brain cells and went out on top while Holfield sinks lower and lower. Both became undisputed Champs. However when it comes to making babies no one beats Evander. Truth 02-13-2005, 06:21 PM Lewis. 1. Holyfield lost more big fights than he won. 2. Lewis still has all his money 3. Lewis got out with all his brain cells and went out on top while Holfield sinks lower and lower. Both became undisputed Champs. However when it comes to making babies no one beats Evander. Exactly, Lewis had the better career without a doubt. vB Martin 02-13-2005, 06:55 PM Holyfield was far more accomplished than Lewis. He definitely had a more distinguished career. I voted Holy, but if he continues to fight I would have to go with Lewis if this comes up again. PBDS 02-13-2005, 06:56 PM Holyfield was far more accomplished than Lewis. He definitely had a more distinguished career. I voted Holy, but if he continues to fight I would have to go with Lewis if this comes up again. ...If holy had left after the first Lewis fight there would be no question at all. vB Martin 02-13-2005, 07:07 PM ...If holy had left after the first Lewis fight there would be no question at all. true dat!! bobbyjones 02-13-2005, 07:25 PM holyfield had a far better career than Lewis because he fought Everyone. Sir_Jose 02-13-2005, 08:59 PM Holyfield was far more accomplished than Lewis. He definitely had a more distinguished career. I voted Holy, but if he continues to fight I would have to go with Lewis if this comes up again. How is he more acomplished than Lewis? Belts won Lewis- 3 Time Champion(2 Time undisputed) Holyfield- 4 Time Champion(2 Time Undisputed) Title Fights Lewis- 17-2(Both losses avenged) Holyfield- 10-6-1(Im counting the "Draw" against Lewis as a loss) Its a myth that Evander had this great career. Like I said he's under .500 in his big fights. Imira 02-15-2005, 06:50 PM Holyfield has defeated more top-notch, in their prime boxers than Lewis. EVANDER!!! PLEASE STOP!!! YOU'RE KILLING YOURSELF!!! DON'T BECOME A BENNY LEONARD!!! (weeps uncontrollably) AintGottaClue 02-15-2005, 07:54 PM How is he more acomplished than Lewis? Like I said he's under .500 in his big fights. so u will be counting the second fight as a win for holy? holy fought bowe 3 times ruiz 3 times beat rahman the first time tyson 2 times and LL 2 times erm hello? boxerman 02-16-2005, 12:13 AM so u will be counting the second fight as a win for holy? holy fought bowe 3 times ruiz 3 times beat rahman the first time tyson 2 times and LL 2 times erm hello? EXACTLY. Trust me. If Holyfield had been in his prime he would have beaten Lennox. Now before you say, that doesn't matter; think back on Ali. Does anyone say " well , he would have been great if he had retired after beating spinks". He went on to fight some fights when he shouldn't have and he got embarrased. However, that didn't take away from how great he once was. marvdave 02-16-2005, 12:23 AM They both are very acclomplished and were great champs. I'm a fan of both. I would give the slight edge to Holy due to Cruiser dominance and what he did for the sport as far as p.r. etc. Of course he is an embarrasment now, but that aside, I'll take Holy. If the question is who would win the in prime, I would say Lewis becuase his style would always give Holy fits. If the question is asked ten years from now, I might have a different answer. I'm sure Lewis will be rich, smart and happy, while Holy will be broke and brain dead. scramwarrior 02-16-2005, 12:34 AM Gotta go with Holyfield on this one. Lewis is one hell of a fighter, but his career-defining victories were over Hasim Rahman, a washed-up Mike Tyson, and a disputed stoppage over VK while losing on all scorecards. Holyfield on the other hand, captivated us throughout the 1990s with his entertaining and heart-filled bouts. |
