A tragic car accident claimed the life of our dear friend and founder of MMAWeekly on Wednesday 5/31/2006 while traveling with his family. While driving to St. George, UT the tire blew out on his car, causing the vehicle to roll. Ryan was killed instantly.

Ryan's wife, Tonya, is still in surgery and two of his children are still in the hospital, while his two youngest have checked out fine.

Our prayers and blessings are with the Bennett family at this terrible hour in their lives. This is a great loss to the MMA community. And, the loss of a great friend to many. Please keep Ryan's family in your prayers.

UPDATE; Condition of former sportscaster's wife improves Ryan Bennett died in crash, wife is now out of ICU
The wife of former KSBY sportscaster Ryan Bennett has been released from intensive care this afternoon, after being seriously injured Wednesday in an accident that claimed her husband's life, friends report.

The family was driving on Interstate 15 near Fillmore, Utah, when the SUV they were driving in rolled five times, according Utah Highway Patrol officers. They had recently moved to Salt Lake City and had family nearby.

Bennett's 4-year-old daughter remains in intensive care, according to officials.

Thursday afternoon, Bennett's friends at Heritage Oaks Bank opened a memorial fund to help support the family.
