how many sit ups should i be doing , how often? everyday? every other day ? should i use weights ...

I do 3 sets of 30 regular situps then 3 sets of 15 knee to elbow type situps

then take 2 silk shirts get on my tile floor put a towel on my knees and slide down and then back up, and i do this til failure 2-3 times before callin it quits on the abs. Been seeing alot of things changing in my midsection from doing this.

i did a set of 100 in the morning, a set of 100 mid day after school, work, whatever, then a set of 500 at night...this was a mix of sit ups and crunches so about 250 of each...most boxers i've heard do around 1000 per day, not sure :confused:

See that's too many reps for a big person like me

300 reps a day ..now that sounds harsh on the vertebrae

i was 160 lbs when i was doing them all day. Right now i'd kill my self with anything over 200 lol

Again, this is really the kind of stuff your trainer should tell you. It really depends on what your training regimen is, overall.

Start at about 35-50% of your max, three sets, and keep working your way up.

how many people here balance sit ups with back exercises? if you do only situps you will run into problems later in life.

Most pro's keep it under 500 and usually no more than 300....

I don't know how many pro's do, but if I was training for boxing I would do at least 250-300 day.
