Ok, I think my dad should start a martial art. he is 58 and isnt exactly in the best of shape, of course he could change this, although he is legs are relatively flexible, and he has some strength. It would need to be an effective one for use in self defence. Any suggestions. Thankyou v much

Ti chi is good for health but he may find it boring ...simple karate would be a good choice starting out all depends on what he can do and what shape he is in ...if he has heart probs go with ti chi it's very relaxing and you dont have to be in the best shape ...get some books on martial arts there is a lot of stuff he can try at home to help get in shape a little before moving on to harder stuff

Do you have any other things you want the art to include besides helping him get into shape and is realistic?

I always rep JKD [jeet kune do] it great for health it covers just about every kind of fighting boxing, wrestling, Philipino forms stick fighting, you can learn forms of meditation, and if you find a good instructor who goes by Bruce Lee's methods he will be able to find his own style within thew system or non system as Lee would put it ...i highly recommend looking into it
