View Full Version : Your favourite fighter (Present)
WinkyFan 02-09-2005, 01:17 PM Who is your favourite fighter and what do you people like about him? My favourite fighter is Winky Wright. I like his style and his fighting spirit. He's a gentleman outside of the ring and he inpires me as a fellow brother to train hard and utilise the skills i have as a fighter. His defense is good as he rarely takes big hits and he has never been stopped even though he has had a few scares in his career. I loved the Shane Mosley fights and i loved the Fernando Vargas fight too. Those fights show Winkys Championship talent and heart to me.
Peace..............
mauricio95 02-09-2005, 01:20 PM RAFAEL marquez he is the hard punching king at the 118 division
paulmmv 02-09-2005, 01:22 PM vitali klitchko i like his knockout power and his fighting heart
rokness 02-09-2005, 01:23 PM hopkins since tito k.o.
rokness 02-09-2005, 01:24 PM he can't fight
theironone 02-09-2005, 01:25 PM I like loads but probably mostly my no 1 is Hopkins, but i've become a big fan of cotto in the last 18 months or so, i like most fighters though, they all display excellent qualities in one form or another both inside and outside the ring
Mr. Violence 02-09-2005, 01:25 PM Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins:
He adapts to the other fighter's style. He can dominate from the outside as well as the inside. He uses his intelligence to crush his opponents. He is very technical and skilled in the way he fights. He is a craftsman that is always learning and improving. He works hard to stay on top and doesn't mess around. All time Middleweight record of 19 title defenses(and still counting), first Middleweight in history to hold all four major titles WBA/WBC/IBF/WBO at once.
The1God 02-09-2005, 01:26 PM Kostya Tszyu Now. It was RJJ, and then after his two sleeping trips, I was in limbo. The way KT handled Mitchell was awesome.
+= El Jefe=+ 02-09-2005, 01:27 PM Hopkins,
He just cleaned the division
and he is the UNDISPUTED CHAMPION.
Hopkins (out of respect), Felix Trinidad (one guy who can finish a fight within seconds)
oldgringo 02-09-2005, 01:57 PM James Toney
Erik Morales
Miguel Cotto
Jeff Lacy
Toney has been my favorite fighter since I was a young lad.
Zoo and JL Castillo...both guys will never be in bad fights!
Trinidad (love his punching power)
PBF (just to good not to like)
Mayorga (his ignorance is entertaining)
amaru 02-09-2005, 02:11 PM Marco Antonio Barrera is my favourite fighter. i have been a huge barrera fan eversince i saw him fight kennedy mckinney in 1996. when i first saw him fight against mckinney i loved his all out, brawl style. over the years he has now become a boxer/counter puncher but he can still brawl if he needs to as the third morales showed.
barrera can box inside, outside, on the back foot, as the aggressor and he has good hand speed and power with a great range of different punches. i remember hes trademark punch was the left hook to the head and then body but because he has added so much more to him, some people seem to forget that the left hook to the body is barreras traemark punch.
barrera is a living legend and a definate hall of fame fighter, if he can get fights with and beat injin chi, juan manuel marquez and avenge his defeat agianst manny pacquaio before he hangs up his gloves, he will go down in history as a one of the great featherweights of this era (even though i think he already is)
MikeHunt 02-09-2005, 02:16 PM Friggin GATTI who else................
adrsan84 02-09-2005, 02:21 PM I like Erik Morales and Zoo, but my favorite fighter at the moment is Rafael Marquez, the guy is a monster and i hope he moves up in weight to see if he carries that awesome power. He's not only beating guys, he's knocking them the F*** out which is why i love to see him fight, plus he can box.
morancito 02-09-2005, 02:39 PM 1. MAB
2. Rafael Marquez
3. Eric Morales
4. Zoo
5. Castillo
Now try and guess where I'm from ;)
Boxhead2012 02-09-2005, 02:49 PM Jermain Taylor. I've never seen him lose a round in a fight.
AintGottaClue 02-09-2005, 03:01 PM the heavyweight champion of the woooooooooooooooooooooooooorld vitaliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii klitschkoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooo
scramwarrior 02-09-2005, 03:11 PM This isn't a team sport, so I don't have a single favorite. My "favorites" though are VK, Zoo, Hopkins, Pac, and Barrera. It's a very diversified list.
scramwarrior 02-09-2005, 03:13 PM Oh yeah, I forgot Jermain Taylor. I'm from Hot Springs, Arkansas, so I have to root for the man.
borikua 02-09-2005, 03:14 PM Felix "Tito" Trinidad
mic573 02-09-2005, 03:18 PM Felix Trinidad- Just like his style and determination.
Mayweather- Amazing to watch especially when he really gets going.
Joel Casamayor- Gives his opponents enough hell in 12 rounds to the point they won't give him a rematch. Still undefeated in my eyes.
There is much more those are just a few. Hopkins, Delahoya, Tsyzu and Castillo are some others.
dansweeney 02-09-2005, 03:39 PM sam peter, the future of the division
jabsRstiff 02-09-2005, 03:42 PM sam peter, the future of the division

.::|ULTIMATE|::. 02-09-2005, 03:54 PM My favorite fighter right now is Erik Morales.
And what people like about him is he needlessly goes to war against everyone. He is exciting to watch, he gets hit? he trys to hit you back and show he is the man in the ring. He's been in wars since the beginning, lots of heart.

jedihillis 02-10-2005, 12:13 AM Vitali Klitschko. Mostly because he's the only one in the Heavyweight devsion to really show the potential of greatness. I hope he sticks around for a while.
MlLkMan 02-10-2005, 02:57 AM Ricardo Mayorga
Manny "PACMAN" Pacquiao
Chadmack 02-10-2005, 03:51 AM Manny "PACMAN" Pacquiao - huge heart and God-fearing, very down to earth person and a hardworking SOB :D
For me itīs "Baby" Joe Mesi.
Counter Puncher 02-10-2005, 05:38 AM My all time favorites were Salvador Sanchez (for dumping Wilfredo Gomez in his prime and Azumah Nelson in his youth) and Aaron Pryor (for trashing the great Alexis Arguello twice)
My favorites now are Pacman, Felix, and Tzyu :) ;) :p
The Golden Boy 02-10-2005, 05:44 AM The "Baby Faced Assassin" Marco Antonio Barrera. I just love his style and the fact that when everyone counts him out he seems to come back and have his greatest victories.
LuKahnLi 02-10-2005, 08:44 AM Pacquaio, Barrera and Tszyu.
Slipx 02-10-2005, 09:50 AM For me itīs "Baby" Joe Mesi.

Atwa_66 02-10-2005, 10:45 AM Andrew "The Powerful Pole" Golota

I like the strength he has, and he's intimidating as hell

Andrew Golota is the furthest thing from a "great" fighter.
He had the talent to be one.....but has a $.50 brain, & a $.10 heart.
jabsRstiff 02-10-2005, 10:54 AM Trinidad
Corrales
Hopkins
WinkyFan 02-10-2005, 10:55 AM Yo brother this thread isn't about dissing others favourite fighters. I'm happy with the response i've got so far although i wish some of you would have said why you like a particular fighter.
Peace................
jabsRstiff 02-10-2005, 11:07 AM If he can say Golota's a great fighter, I can say he's not.
After all.....who has the better case, he or I ?
Why do I like who I like ?
Trinidad - Love the way he fights. Love the way he throws his punches.....perfectly. Love how patient & accurate he is. Love the way he hurts a guy, & then begins to steadily take him out.
Corrales - The guy is so tall, yet throws the shortest power-shots you'll see. He's a guy who has serious limitations, but will always be in a fight because of those lethal bombs.
Hopkins- The craftiest S.O.B. I've seen in years. An ageless wonder who just knows how to win.
He knew he couldn't stand at long range & box with the southpaw Keith holmes.....so he got in close & disrupted Holmes rhythm, stole his heart, with his rough-ass style.
In his next fight, he uses the perfect plan to dismantle the sports' best offensive fighter (Trinidad). Doesn't waste a second in there....making every Tito miss get paid back.
Hopkins is a P-R-O.
WinkyFan 02-10-2005, 11:16 AM No brother i don't think Golota is a great fighter too but in the eye's of a true fan he will be. Not many like my boy Winky but i will love and respect him all way through his career to the end like i have so far. I've been to most of his venues and met him several times. He isn't great to alot of people but he sure is to me.
Massive respect for writing in such a insightful way of why you like those fighters. I have massive respect and love for all of them. Winky and Trinidad will be a amazing fight to see for fans alike worldwide.
Peace...............
