I think tall people have stronger uppercut, why?

I seen Ndou and Somsak Sithchatchawa that are tall then many boxers in there class

is it just me or do they have stronge uppercuts

it's just you i think. no one size has a particular advantage in having a powerfull uppercut.

examples: lennox lewis(6'5" 1/2) had a great uppercut, but he was pretty tall considering that the average hight of a heavy is probably around 6'2". mike tyson(5'10") also had a wicked uppercut, yet he is considerably shorter than most heavyweights.

Mike Tyson had a powerful punch in every punch.

but maybe you are right too.

yeah I forgot about Cintron

I think he might have been sarcastic when he was saying that

That or he has only seen the Tyson of the later years who didnt throw the jab hardly at all. If he has seen a younger Tyson, he would have seen a sledge hammer of a little jab. But with Tysons height in the heavyweights he could never expect it to become his bread and butter.

Well,if a taller person generally longer legs, and to throw an uppercut the legs are bent and pushed up from to increase power, the longer the legs the more momentum.

Thank you.

You see there is a very strong "size doesnt mater, genetics dont mater" vibe in this forum.

But I agree with what you said.

btw, it was partly sarcastic. his jab was somewhat explosive, but i didn't like the way he used it against taller people. compared to his other punches, it pales in comparison.

There is part of genetics but also you gotta have some boxing mentality and skills to improve on what you already have.

That makes a lot of sense.

the peek-a-boo style used the jab as a distraction...it wasn't that good. Wlad has the best jab in the business!

if hes wiry, maybe. wiry tall guys are known for having freakish power for their size

I am trying to work out about what I said before, because, if your legs are longer, do they bend further to get the power? or maybe they can afford to bend further? any1? I would think maybe a short persons uppercut is faster, and more explosive, where as a taller persons would be slower but with more power.

i'm 6'5 and i use uppercuts and shovelhooks to keep people out from theinside and they work very well for me!

Yeh my brother was saying about that and how lennox lewis used them against mike tyson

I seen Cintron vs Estrada,Cintron puinshed made it harder for Estrada to come in by hinting an uppercut

Old threat but I'd just like to chime in again on it and say that aswell as the previously mentioned attributes if someone is tall and not as broad say their weight comes from the length of their body as opposed to width because they are narrow or skinny, then I think their weight displacement will be better because more of the weight is closer to the strike because its closer to being directly under it

not much of a jab at all.

He's knocked 2 fights that I can remember down with a jab. Says enough.
