The big event is just a few days away. It's even got some attention in the boxing sites. Predictions......
My pick
Gracie: submission or ko.

Hughes is gonna win for sure..
And even though I don't like the Gracies too much..I'm on Royce's side on this one.
I hope He pulls a miracle victory...But the chances are very slim.

Gracie has a chance with his skill, but I still have to go with Hughes on this one.

Royce would need to take it to the ground to win. while Hughes may be comfortable there, i dunno if he's ever fought anyone as technically sound as Royce (i guess BJ Penn is the only person who could be compared). Hughes will need to knock him out standing or slam him into oblivion.

i'm gonna say Royce, just cause.

Matt hasn't fought 3 guys in one night like Royce. Gracie by some sort of choke. Seeing Royce without his gi will be wierd.

Anyone who picked Royce to win this fight has to get get their head checked. Like I said, Hughes will dominate, and he did.

Royce is an old man now. I think he just wanted the pay day.

so how did it end?

Dude...it ended pretty bad. Matt's sheer strength destroyed Royce. Royce didn't even have a chance to even start up any plan that he may have thought out. Pretty sick ending. Matt also had a Kimura on him and may have popped Royce. Oh well.

Thats my guess, he also has some K1 fight coming up, if its by K1 rules do you really expect him to knock anyone out? He going to get knocked out in K1 as well.

My guess is Sakuraba vs Gracie at K1 next?

WOW..damn I figured dude, Gracie is like 38 thats pretty old for a fighter, oh well.. I still thought Gracie would win, I guess im stuck on UFC 1&2 when he was fighting guys that were way bigger than him, but thats back when he was at his peak.

Gracie might have won in the rest of the fight if he had gotten out of the 1st round, which he almost did.

Either way, prime Gracie beats Hughes.

I think they should have went retro, no time limit :)

I don't think Gracie would have won that fight even if he made it out, do you really think he figured out Hughes's ground game after being completely destroyed on the ground. If anything he should have kept it standing, and kept kicking away.

This is another example when moderate weight lifting done correctly can really help you in the ufc. Gracie was just overpowered by the stronger fighter.

Doesn't matter, he is 39, and he is still a idol and hero in my eyes, more than Hughes will ever be, especially for Hughes taking this fight is pathetic.

Yeah it was over before it even started man.

That's just sad to see Hughes destroy a legend like that, but it's a bad matchup to begin with. Hughes is a strong mother ****er.

Are you kidding me? This fight will be so one sided its not even funny. Matt Hughes by TKO. My guess elbows, he will catch him on the cage, and corner him in.

I'll take some credit as well ;)

I agree man. Royce got dominated. Hard to watch him lose so one sided. That ****in kimura Matt had for awhile was crazy ! it's like Royce has no bones in his body ? probably would have let Matt rip his whole arm off rather than submitting.

Dana White is a ****er for letting this shit happen to Royce. Put that bald ****er in the octagon.

Or steroids. Seriously. I was watching this doc on UFC fighters and steroids. It's so easy to fool the test. Margaret Goodman complains about this all the time. I get Gracie never knew what steroids were in his time, whereas today many fighters use em because they know everyone else is, or suspect it, and don't want to be at a disadvantage.

Not to say Hughes is on em...but it'd be very unshocking.

Either way, Royce has fought guys stronger than Hughes and won. This was mainly a matter of Royce being older, and rustier, and of course Hughes being a very skilled wrestler.

Wrestling skills ain't no joke.

...Hughes is a beast and he was very impressive. Gracie is still a legend but his time has passed him by. He looked lost out there.

I don't watch MMA much at all. Not a big fan, really. So I could be way off base, but I think age is probably an even bigger obstacle than it is in boxing. Seems like Royce just didn't have the strength to deal with that guy. He's 40 or something, isn't he? Perhaps if he was younger, that would be been a much better fight.

I would concide that Royce just might be older but he is not rusty he has kept active for a long time.

Also look at pictures of Matt when he was in college or even as a senior in high school and you will see he was always cut up and big. Even when he first started he was freakishly strong. Steroids is not such a big issue with lower weights because like boxing, these guys suck so much weight to make there weight divisions that it would be retarded and conter productive to cutting weight.

Now in the heavy weights that could be a bigger problem due to not having to make weight. But to throw around steroids with no facts is ignorant.

Hughes might've won the fight, but Royce wins in the end. compare their paychecks and you'll see that Royce supposedly gets 1.6 million vs whatever Hughes gets. his heart or his head may have not been in the fight, but he damn sure got the money out of that.

i'm sad to see that Royce lost, but it happens to a lot of people. time to move on. now only if someone could get Rickson in a ring. too bad he'll only fight for like 3 million or more.
