The best bodyfat calculator is the mirror.

The best bodyfat calculator is the mirror.

acually that's the worst, way to give shit advice buddy.

the most accurate way of measuring body fat is a procedure done by doctors or specialists, where they submerge you under water for measurements etc. the next best bet is to go to the gym and have a personal trainer measure you via skin calipers and measuring tape. this way isn't 100% accurate but it's pretty damn close if it's done correctly.

The caliper method can be roughly accurate, but the water tank method is the only truly accurate measurement.....

It matters on what you need it for. If you're just going for looks and want to know if your "ripped" a mirror is best. I've seen guys with 12% BF with 8 packs and more ripped than guys with like 5% BF and small. If you want to know your BF just for the sake of it, then go ahead and take a test.

BF isn't the best option though.Take this example:

One guy is 160 lbs. with 8% BF
Another is 260 lbs. with 12% bf.

Of course the first one has less bodyfat but i would bet the 260 lber looks much mroe ripped. Get what I'm saying?

That's why I posted the mirror is the best. But if you want to know your BF just to know where you stand, I would recommend the ones at the hospital where you empty out all your air and go in the water (something like that)

Don't they just have scales you stand on that calculate your body fat?

i wouldnt trust any methodds or calculaters...go to a doctor..those calculatoers dont take the fact of how much muscle you have or how big yoru bonmes are..or how much water you have floating around in you..they usually ask for weight and hieght

i used to use the US navy body fat percentage calculator, it asks u a lot of questions first, like how many times a week you exercise and how big your neck is, i think it's fairly accurate, although if u really gotta know the exact amount u'll have to pay for a dunk in the water tank

The water tank is accurate but is far from being perfect. The only perfect test is putting your body in the blender and analysing the fat vs the rest. you can do that one time only and it's after your death ...

No, just body weight. For body fat you have to take into account your body mass index, height, etc.

I have a Tanita scale that measures bodyfat electrically, and if you look at my pic here (http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1415703&postcount=30), my Tanita said I'm at 20.5%, but I used to bodybuild and to me, that pic looks more like 15%. My scale now says I'm at 17%, and I'm thinking I'm closer to 12% -- 31" waist, 45" chest, 15.5" neck at 5'9" 174 lbs.

The eye is the best judge. Seriously. A serious, competitive bodybuilder -- even an amateur -- could look at you with your shirt off and tell you your bodyfat. There aren't any pretty boys at your gym who could give you a quick bodyfat analysis? My gym has a couple. Better yet, find a hot chick bodybuilder -- they hang out in supplement stores and the "Organic" section of markets -- this gives you an excuse to take your clothes off in front of her. Work it.
