How much weight do max out on bench press?

by the way Bench Press is an OVERRATED exercise and does not prove if you can fight or whether or not you can box or if your strong in the ring.

i bench 70kg max. about 3 reps.

so i stay at 50kg, doing 10 - 12 reps

your new on this forum. and i dont like it when ppl talk about bench press. i hate it when ppl brag and act big in the gym, i hate the way lots of guys crowd round a guy doing bench press.
so for this i am gonna give you bad karma. bcoz of this thread. nothing against you. but i hate the topic.

Um, okay then. I was not saying if it helps you or not in the ring, I just wanted to know how much everybody does, just to know for the hell of it. And I agree, bench press is an overrated boxing work out.

Show some respect, can you? He is a new user here, let him ask the questions he wants to ask.

I'd rather talk to a guy who does not use the Search than to a rude impolite person.

I agree, but I will use search from now on before I make new threads, so something like this does not happen again.

Who cares? Practice fighting if you want to be a boxer and forget about the bench press. What world champion have you ever heard of who brags about their bench press?

How is he a new user and your not, you both joined in the same month.

In any case, I'm doing around 170 to 190 right now, 8 reps, 3 sets. Usually start a bit lower and work my way up. Most I ever did was 205 in high school, but I'm not a big fan of max rep on anything because I don't understand what it proves.

It doesn't have anything to do with boxing, but anyway I can bench about 220 right now

when I was in highschool I took a weight training course. Weighed 145 lbs and finished with a 240 max. Not bad for a skinny kid.

Yeah in high school I was 145 as well, and I was repping 180 pounds, but most I ever tried for max was 205, but I did it with ease. I was a beast back then, people called me mini-brock lesnar.

why is it always "how much do you bench?" i'd expect this from some casual weight lifter, but from boxers? i mean, it's one of the most overrated and non specific lifts there is, especially for boxing.

ya I know weights wont do shit when you get in a fight.Im at the stage right now that I wanna lose all my body fat and look good.something like a Nelly body would be nice but its hard for Mexicans to get those nice cuts size for me isnt a problem.Ill see where im at in feb. next year and go from there.they say it takes 3 years to get where I wanna be at.would be nice to WORK OUT with 315 like 6 sets of 6-8.

Long time ago I was able to bench 200lbs 2 times max but I'm benching about 140lbs right now I can do it 10 times, anything that weighs more than I do I cant bench unless I've been working out for a long time, which as we speak isnt the case.

I always use the point scale, so if you weight 150, and you can bench 150, thats a 1.00, and so on. This way I was able to convince people in my gym class that I was stronger then them, pound for pound, but just dividing it as so.

Weigh in at 130, Max out at 180. with 1 rep.

In the gym i bench 50 lbs 30 reps, then move up by 20 pounds to 70 with 20 reps then 100 with 10 reps, 130 with 10 reps. 150 with 5 reps.

I rarely go up to 180. ONly when i feel adventurous =p.

I'm 16.

I dont do any bench anymore but i trained with 120KG(264lbs) was ma comfort level trainin, if i pushed and tryed for a 1 rep max i could do about 135KG (297lbs) (to get LBS into KG i think you do the LBS/2.2 n that gives u the KG weight, but not sure)

Meh, seriously. Most of the guys I've seen that do 300+ do some major cheating. Either the spotter lifts the thing for them or they don't hold it for a second (one onethousand) (which is proper technique). Not saying mystyal does it, but alot of guys do. Bench press is overated anyways. It's not sports specific it's all for show.
