View Full Version : Amir Khan knocked down in ragged win
hitterwitter 02-08-2005, 05:06 AM Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan survived a huge scare to win on his debut in the senior Amateur Boxing Association Championships.
Khan was in control when Craig Watson stepped in with a superb left hook and dumped his opponent on the canvas.
But the teenager recovered his composure to record a 21-9 points win at Preston's Guild Hall.
Kimmy 02-08-2005, 05:15 AM Could be a hint of whats to comes. Khan is very talented but also very ****y ( like Hamed in this respect ). I have a feeling in the pros he`ll win all his fights untill he fights an opponent with heart desire and skill ( an American ). Then he`ll be exposed. Can`t stand that British ****y attitude and i love watching them get hammered eventually!
Toller 02-08-2005, 05:22 AM I'm looking forward to him taking a hammering! I don't like the guy at all
Lol999 02-08-2005, 05:39 AM I think it illustrates why he isn't ready to turn pro yet. What if he'd gone in with a rough old journeyman? He could have had a right kicking.
Lol :D
Kimmy 02-08-2005, 05:58 AM Yeah...but he should turn pro so we can see the little **** take a beating..

He's merely an amateur. Not very talented in the defence department. Just check out his shnozz already! That's one 'fat' nose due to be flattened!
Prediction: He will be exploited by the promoter, then unceremoniously dumped, when it's seen that he can't, or will not cut the mustard!
Mr. Ryan 02-08-2005, 02:18 PM I like Amir Khan, he reminds me a little of The Prince. In fact, I hear there is a little bit of a rivalry going in Sheffield.

And why would that be, is Khan totally jealous of everything that Naz achieved, why would a millionaire 30ish year old fat cruiser who has all the money he could of dreamed of, has a beautiful wife and 3 kids too look after be bothered about a light-welter boy who's on £70,000 (if that) a year

I'm not honestly, he's a british cruiserweight, awesome KO power, awesome physical specimen but slow on his feet and weak chinned but has determination and heart that make men fall, alot of his best wins are come from behind spectacular KO's, he's in his early 40's and officially still active but it'l take big money to make him fight again, add another 30 years on Carl'The Cat'Thompson and it's your boy right there!!!!

You could just be trying to trick me into thinking he's real. Unless a guy walks up to me and tells "I am the bloke called Carl Thompson." I am thinking this is a trick.
loangunZ 02-08-2005, 03:04 PM yea I heard in an interview how much Hamed admired Khan and even saw himself in Khan.

lol. He's the IBO CW champion!
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 02-08-2005, 03:32 PM What weight does he fight in?
jack_the_rippuh 02-08-2005, 04:02 PM Naseem Hamed is finished.
england4ever 02-08-2005, 06:44 PM i do not see this as a major focus point, yeah he got knocked down but nearly al the greats have. Ali, DLH and even ?Marciano was floored and he retired undefeated. Kahn has a lot of agillity and will learn to keep out of the way of big shots. Also he generally has a strong chin and can take hard shots. This was his first fight at light welterweight so they probably hit harder than he thought. Also he got up and won the fight, what more can you ask for?
BrooklynBomber 02-08-2005, 07:19 PM If he is so ****y let him fight a mexican.
HayeFan 02-08-2005, 07:39 PM It doesn't surprise me in the slightest. The spotlight's on him and he's out to please the crowd. Sh*t happens.
Bottom line, he got knocked down by a guy he was outclassing and ultimately beat, then went on to blitz a better fighter in the same day.
Did you hear that he may be getting another shot at Kindelan?
bandito 02-08-2005, 10:22 PM give me a break. this kid is an amateur. who cares if he loses. amateurs lose alot of fights. he got dropped....big deal. HE IS AN AMATEUR!! get over it!!
SweetScience 02-08-2005, 10:27 PM Another chinny Hamed.
bandito 02-08-2005, 10:32 PM Another chinny Hamed.
when he gets knocked out or dropped as a PRO, before his 5th, 9th, or 12th fight, then you could say he is overrated. he has a good 2 or 3 years before he turns pro.

I hope he fights in the states when pro, where he won't be protected. I doubt it do...

Considering the amount of praise & attention he has recived in the UK, he is definitely overrated. Not saying he's a bad fighter - he is talented & has potential, but still way overhyped

****, guys, the kid's only 17, i thought when i saw him in the olympics that he needs to work on his D. the kid's good, he's got power, heart ( he got up off the canvas and won the fight, didn't he?) and pretty decent skills. we should give the kid time to develop before we decide if he's overated. if he can hang with the best amateur featherweight in the world ( Kindelan ) the kid's a real prospect at this stage and i think that's all we can really say at this point, other thna i hope he doesn't waste his talent
