Wow...just reading the action it sounded like a good fight. Monte should be very close to a title shot now. What do you think he'll do next? Cheers.

barrett looking good. nice jab, good footwork for being off so long.

his jab is snappy and powerful, a power punch, really.

good fight

and yeah, he's too old to make a serious comeback, he's 33. I mean it could happen, but he's not a hopkins or tszyu caliber fighter

This is true. :D

Anyway...it sounds like Barrett worked well behind his jab and had the presence of mind to step up and put the fight away when he knew the cuts might come into play. Barrett was just too big a step up for "what the heck" at this point.

great fight and both fighters impressed me. id say both can be contenders for the title but barret should get a shot in his next fight.

Alright, as someone whose seen the fight, Beck does NOT have a glass chin.

He fought a damned good fight, he took alot of hard shots but just couldn't keep up.

Not saying Barrett was lucky, I was rooting for Barrett and I'm glad he won but to say Beck has a glass jaw is totally inaccurate. Monte may not be a huge puncher, but he laid some vicious shots into Beck and he kept standing up.

i agree both fighters landed some huge shots and to say one of them has a glass chin would be inaccurate

Monte has no power at all, and to go down three times against Barrett = glass chin.

Monte Barrett might not (prolly will not) beat any of the belt holders (except maybe Brewster), but he has definitely earned his shot at one of the belts. Give the man his chance. The best most competitive fight would be Barrett vs Brewster/Golota winner IMO.

Barrett's cutman is a hustler for keeping that nasty gash under control, at first I thought the fight could have been stoped when I got a good look at it between rounds.

it was an awesome fight, but Monte really got beat up at points. I don't think he beats any of the champions aside from Brewster maybe.

i dont think anyone mentioned barrets cut man. he was the only reason he was able to stay in the fight and do what he did. the cut was nasty and his cutman stopped the bleeding in like 2 rounds

That was a fun fight to watch and I'm very happy for Monte. The only champion I could see him beating is Brewster though, but he said he wanted Byrd. Thats a first, somebody calling out Chris Byrd!!

James Toney calls Chris Byrd out everytime he does an interview. Byrd has yet to accept.

nice action fight between two mediocre Heavyweights. Neither can beat the "champs"..except Brewter of course....does he still count? :D

Nice fight but Klichko would have killed either one of them. Funny how Barrett talked **** about Klichko knowing that Klichko will not fight him in the nearest future. Vitaliy should let his little brother do the job, he's done it once, he can do it again.

I like Barrett but he was acting like a buffoon after the fight. I think he'll have some luck against Brewster and Byrd but he'll lose to Ruiz's sleeper style and Vitali is just too damn big for him. Barrett has trouble against bigger heavy's, that is why he lost to Lance "the lochness monster" Whitaker.

Monte might not be the biggest puncher, but just because he knocked out Beck, doesn't mean Beck has a glass chin.

The first knockdown was a good punch at a nice angle, but Beck was right back up. The other two knockouts were attrition KO's. I don't care how good your chin is, if someone keeps landing shot after shot after shot, your going down. And remember to Beck's credit, he kept standing up.

What a great fight though. I was lik "this is gonna be another heavyweight sleeper" but I was wrong. Barett worked those uppercuts beautifully but Beck was landing way too much as well. Tough fight for both but I wasn't too convinced of the win simple cuz Barett looked exhausted and even rocked a couple of occasion. He should work on a better D.

I thought that if Beck had fought a little smarter then he had that fight in the bag. Did anyone else notice all the elbows, forarms and shoulder usage Barrett had going on ? I know, you guys think I nit pick them for being "dirty"..but damn, even Nady (a little too involved at times maybe??) kept telling him to stop it already! I loved how he complained to Nady about that headbutt that he caused too...nice move!

Yeah Beck its like he had NO defense for an upeprcut. His undoing came when he tried to just slug it out in third wa sit and got dropped? I didn't see that many dirty tactics, but I'm blind to those things, its 2 grown men fighting so if a few fouls get in, hey, **** happens. Your too straight trace :p

Yeah just like he did when Byron Polley and Daniel Frank KD him.

I know, I know...I prefer a clean fight. I like it when they get rough, but when fouls distract the other fighter to the point that it might affect his performance then I dont like that. I'll get over it I'm sure. ;) That uppercut caught him every time and had everything to do with his loss..he didnt fight very smart at all, and got his first loss cause of it
The boy is from Nashville so I felt I had to root for him :D
