Floydmayweather 02-03-2005, 03:16 PM You should do lots of plyometrics for explosivness and do things like squats and push-press. Also hit the body bag and speed bag often, speed is power too. Also when you punch open up your chest and exzagerate the motions when practicing if u know what i mean. peace boxer2k5 02-03-2005, 04:16 PM all you have to do is punch properly and land anyone in your weight class will feel it punchign properly is using your whole body when you punch not jsut our arms make sure you have proper balance and footwork as well and do your calistetics thats all odnt worry about getting power jsut worry about punching right and gettign your footwork andbalance right because if you punch someoen properly and have good balance and you cant hurt them then your either real weak or your opponent can take a punch abdiel2k3 02-03-2005, 04:23 PM try **** push ups its where you lay on your stomach and let your boner pick you up jack_the_rippuh 02-03-2005, 04:27 PM try **** push ups its where you lay on your stomach and let your boner pick you up Lol...I thought you were serious until I read the boner part. Raekwon 02-03-2005, 05:10 PM lol that would be impressive ShotgunSeanK 02-03-2005, 05:58 PM I agree with most of the people above...practice getting your technique right first. Then, the power can be developed naturally. {BrownBomber} 02-03-2005, 06:27 PM In my opinion u have to be born with heavy hands. Other than that the best u can do is learn how to punch properly using leverage and your weight.Tito for example fights with his right foot on his tip toes,so he puts his weight on his right hand punch using his calf muscle. His left hook comes out of leverage throwing his weight using his thigh muscles making this his harder punch. boxernyc 02-03-2005, 06:45 PM Also make sure you stop moving when you throw your punches. To sit down on your punches you have to use your whole body. Everyone is right about technique being the most important thing. A lot of power comes from the whole body twisting motion. Plant your feet, throw your whole body into it and make sure to aim past your target. abdiel2k3 02-03-2005, 06:55 PM try emailen chris byrd maybe he can give u some tips zip 02-04-2005, 04:13 AM Everyone pretty much said how to train but the areas you should target are: Liver Kidney Jaw Ear Temple Heart Plexus joeboxer 02-04-2005, 04:17 AM What the hell is a Plexus? puppy_dogg 02-04-2005, 04:19 AM What the hell is a Plexus? solar plexus, in your chest Dark Destroyer 02-04-2005, 06:54 AM I agree with most of the people above...practice getting your technique right first. Expect to be winded for a while :D elveiel 02-04-2005, 07:46 AM Technique on how to throw the correct punch with the most potential is the key. I agree A fighter needs to learn WHEN to throw the power shots, KO's are about good timing too. boxer2k5 02-04-2005, 08:04 AM try emailen chris byrd maybe he can give u some tips chris byrd doesnt throw punches properly for power he throws them in ways he can land and get out of the way and score points his hands are already out there and there is no body movement jsut taps taps taps im sure if byrd wanted to hit hard he could but his style doesnt really allow it yeah being born with heavy hands is the only natrual way to have punchign power liek foreman was prob able to knock people out before he trained for boxing vitali has heavy hands but wlad doesnt wlad has more power because he punches properly and has better balance than vitali its all about technique, balance, and accuracy abdiel2k3 02-04-2005, 10:33 AM chris byrd doesnt throw punches properly for power he throws them in ways he can land and get out of the way and score points his hands are already out there and there is no body movement jsut taps taps taps im sure if byrd wanted to hit hard he could but his style doesnt really allow it yeah being born with heavy hands is the only natrual way to have punchign power liek foreman was prob able to knock people out before he trained for boxing vitali has heavy hands but wlad doesnt wlad has more power because he punches properly and has better balance than vitali its all about technique, balance, and accuracy lmao i was joken elveiel 02-04-2005, 02:18 PM lmao i was joken Your always joking :D joeboxer 02-04-2005, 02:39 PM Yeah, I guess I have gotten hit there and had the wind knocked out of me. Depending on how hard you hit the amount of damage changes. {BrownBomber} 02-05-2005, 02:06 PM Ever got cracked in the jaw so hard your ears ring? Pugnacious_Z 02-17-2005, 01:42 AM never rung my ears, my opponents feel it with my jab Slipx 02-17-2005, 07:41 PM To punch hard, it means goin through true hell, and I dont mean some kind of one-time excercise; I mean hard years of training, days, months of working your ass off. You have to become comfortable with pushing yourself past that limit, where you'd normally stop and go have a drink, to get any kind of world class knockout punching power. People say plyometrics is the way to go, and science proves that they will make you more explosive. I suggest you just get comfortable with hitting the bag hard, proper technique isn't everything, an example ?Naz. Pugnacious_Z 02-18-2005, 07:42 PM it isnt about goin through hell or not, its about having it or not, sum ppl train for many years in boxing and sum ppl have never punched a bag and their punch power is the same, sum ppl just have it, sum not elveiel 02-18-2005, 08:24 PM looking to develop power in my punches, is there any specific areas to target ? exercises to do ? any special technique to punch with power ? are you born with power or can u make yourself powerful ? Will you change your username to veryhardhitter if you improve? :) If you wanna be a puncher you have to watch a pucnher, you've gotta turn your weights over with sharp explosive shots. Watch Tszyu. tino 02-18-2005, 09:58 PM to be a puncher you have to be french. and it takes years of training. love2_punch 02-19-2005, 10:14 AM Here is a link to an article about adding power to your punches A Twist To Complex Training By Ross Enamait, M.S., CFT ( video DEMO link in article also) http://www.rossboxing.com/thegym/thegym25.htm Reflections on The Force-Velocity Curve (types of Power and strength in sports) http://www.sportscience.org/SPORTSCI/JANUARY/F-V%20CURVE.htm |
