AintGottaClue 02-02-2005, 03:00 PM ya reggie is a fall down guy probally a rich mofo.
Slipx 02-02-2005, 03:01 PM i am in proverbial awe
how could someone stay in the game after 250 losses!
Ko'd about five times, about seven TKO losses on him. aside from that, the guy's losses were all decision-based...bastard must've had an iron jaw
He's still fighting, too
edited: like 92% of his losses he was on his feet... INSANE!
AintGottaClue 02-02-2005, 03:02 PM im sure he is just a fall down guy 250 loses with only what 15 at max stoppages? he coulda been a contender ;)
trinidadpr87 02-02-2005, 03:02 PM ya reggie is a fall down guy probally a rich mofo.
He's beaten one of the fighters on the upcoming show the contender.
jack_the_rippuh 02-02-2005, 03:06 PM Styles make fights and too many fighters have the perfect style to beat him..
Slipx 02-02-2005, 03:06 PM I wonder if his speech is slurred or not?
if the guy speaks properly I'd be suprised. Then again there are certain guys that go the full rounds and lose, and still don't take any large shots. Greg Wright.
edited: also notice after his 40th or so pro fight he didn't get ko'd after that.
Kornhusker 02-02-2005, 03:23 PM Can you imagine what it must feel like to be one of the 66 guys that actually lost to him?
paulmmv 02-02-2005, 03:29 PM wow thats is one sad record
jayschre 02-02-2005, 04:44 PM Good old reggie trained in the art of losing by I'm assuming his dad Jerry Strickland. Who himself compiled an incredible record of 13 wins 122 losses and 0 draws with a whopping 5 wins by ko. Funniest of all Jerrry actually fought under the name Reginald Strickland in a bout in 1986:D
How much of a lowlife must their manager be Mr. Richard Christmas? But then again he must be decent to still get this guy sanctioned (AKA crooked as a dogs hind leg!)
TheFairPole 02-02-2005, 04:47 PM Glass Joe was 1 and 99! That is pretty the worst percentage wise! :D
Casey 02-02-2005, 05:16 PM What do you think of this record

The Fix 02-02-2005, 06:00 PM i bet you he is getting paid well though. even if he only gets 1000 dollars/average to fight he has made a **** load of money.btw who did he beat on the contender?
trinidadpr87 02-02-2005, 06:03 PM i bet you he is getting paid well though. even if he only gets 1000 dollars/average to fight he has made a **** load of money.btw who did he beat on the contender?
Brent Cooper (http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=016728)
AintGottaClue 02-02-2005, 06:49 PM makes u wonder if reggie is paid to lose i wonder how good he really is at full force
The Italian Stallion 02-02-2005, 07:06 PM Thats just sad...
Slipx 02-02-2005, 07:18 PM What do you think of this record

He may not have had good reflexes, good punching power, or excessive tendon strength. But that son of a ***** had an iron jaw.
edited: check Brent Cooper's record, right after the loss to strickland he fought him again, right after that ;-). "I demand a rematch! You COULDN'T HAVE BEATEN ME!" lol
The Fix 02-02-2005, 07:20 PM i think that reggie does it because he has found a way to make easy money by fighting every week and win or lose he is just there for the paychecks nothing more
Slipx 02-02-2005, 07:31 PM yea. I think his pops must've showed him how to just run away well, because I don't see him getting punched repeatedly through 260+ bouts ;-) he is probably like a Greg Wright style, just moves around and pretty much plays a breathing punch bag

What's even better about the fact that they rematched 4 months afterwards is that while Brent Cooper made the rematch his very next fight, Reggie fought twenty two times in that 4 month stretch going an impressive 2-19-1:eek:
Twenty two fights in 4 months it's a wonder how in the hell this cat can still stand, walk, and talk, let alone know who the **** he is anymore! This dude is one of those fighters that (like his father) some commission will finally force him to retire, only then he'll probably fall over dead from the shock of not getting his ass kicked anymore!

quote of the day! hahahahahha
SweetScience 02-02-2005, 11:59 PM Proof anybody can be a pro boxer.
Slipx 02-03-2005, 10:55 AM Just found out that reggie makes around 30 grand a year boxing.
Zeomg 02-03-2005, 11:14 AM ... Sorry for breaking in, but I'm sure my guy will surpass everybody in the next few years (today he is 0-13-0). Check my thread or site out:

That is a horrible record indeed. I thought Bert Cooper was bad.
The Troll 04-21-2005, 11:30 AM How much of a lowlife must their manager be Mr. Richard Christmas? But then again he must be decent to still get this guy sanctioned (AKA crooked as a dogs hind leg!)
He must be related to Lloyd Christmas

!! Mr. Soprano 04-21-2005, 11:56 AM Boxing is a skill, something you get better at with practice (of course some are born with a talent, but you still need to perfection it)
The more you practice, the better you get…
What I want to know is how can you still SUCK after 200+ fights in the ring that you can't beat nearly a ‘nobody’
joe kurtz 04-21-2005, 01:18 PM Wow.
I'm really surprised by the lack of respect & knowledge here regarding these journeyman-trial horse opponents. Especially an honest pro like Reggie Strickland.
He's not a bum or a stiff or a tomato can. He's a guy providing a nessessary service in a rough, tough industry.Yeah, he makes a living, but that's about it. He's certainly nowhere NEAR "rich". Especially when you consider the amount of time that he spends on the road, the fact that he has no medical insurance & how many times a year he's probably ripped off by unscrupulous promoters who don't pay him or reemburse him for expenses, cut his purse when the gate isn't what they hoped for ( which for promoters is about 99.99% of the time, believe me. They'll plead poverty after a complete sell out! ) or just not pay him at all.
As for his skill level or supposed lack thereof, do you have any idea how good you actually have to be to fight as often as he does? The skills it takes to not take a beating or get knocked out?
If were were the human punching bag that many of you are ,no doubt, imagining then he'd have never lasted this long. Not even remotely close to this long.
And, Strickland's not a complete runner or a grab & hold artist either. If he always provided ****ty fights do you think he get as much work as he does?
No, he's no Arturo Gatti when it comes to excitement either, but in his own way he's fun to watch. The man definitely knows his trade & displays his craft.
Now, not all opponents with really lousy records are as skilled or as honest in their efforts as Reggie is. FAR from it. There are quite a few who do just come in to lay down. But, Strickland's not one of them.

The worst record would be whoever has the most losses, with ZERO wins...

Tha Greatest 04-21-2005, 05:35 PM Lot of people think Anthony Bonsante from the contender is a tuff fighter because he knocked out Brent Cooper
But Brent Cooper got beat by Reggie Strickland!
and in the rematch he got a draw!
So he had the chance to avenge it

Protected?
Protected from what? Or whom?
Him nor his people ever really proclaimed him to be anything more than what he was, a very winning, VERY busy fighter on the mid-west circuit. For the most part he was a step or two above the level of opposition that he faced & by fighting as often as he did, it earned him a pretty remarkable ( for the modern era anyhow ) record. And he & his people used the noteriety from that record to land some TV dates & some bigger fights.
Once he began to mix with the better level of opposition from outside of the mid-west circuit, he lost, but he usually gave a good account of himself in the process.
damn that guy got his ass kicked a lot :[ that sucks.

LMAO you could type false justifications all day long, and everyone would still believe he was the most protected fighter of all time. I thought Brian Nielson was.......this guy takes the cake.
