View Full Version : What if: Mayorga vs Ouma at 154
If Mayorga gets past Castillejo which we all think he will. Who do you think would win between Mayorga and Ouma. I would pick Ouma because he can take a punch and he would be landing on Mayo's piss poor defense all night but I think it would be very exciting. Mayorga's a bad ass but Ouma doesnt give a ****. He has been through so much and has so much confidence that he would kick your ass and smile while he's doing it so Mayorga will definatly not intimidate him. I pick Ouma by a lop sided unanimous decision of 8-4 or 9-3
This would be a very exciting fight but I don't know how you could pick against Ouma right now...he was nearly perfect last weekend and he did it basically inside of a phone booth where being perfect is a lot more difficult. Ouma by UD but a very exciting UD at that!
Kornhusker 02-01-2005, 02:20 PM Considering how gassed Mayorga was after 3 or 4 rounds against Tito, I can't see him going the distance at Ouma's pace. Ouma by 9th round tko.

good point. I would love to see this fight be made sometime in the future. And hopefully it'd be more entertaining than the Jantuah fight.
mic573 02-01-2005, 02:39 PM I don't even see a competitive match here. Ouma's pace would be too much for Mayorga's face first defense. Kassim would also avoid most of Mayorga's punches. Ouma by late stoppage he punches harder than HBO gave him credit for last weekend.
I think you guys are mistaking Mayorga's weight gain for bad stamina. If you fight at a weight that is higher then your normal weight then you cant catch your breath. 160 was just too much for him. He had great stamina at 147. He was coming for 12 rounds against Spinks and Forrest. Remember
oldgringo 02-01-2005, 02:56 PM As much as I like what Mayorga does in the ring...I don't think this would be a favorable matchup for him. After taking the bad beating against Tito, I wonder what kind of stamina and performance he'll give against a guy with a fierce workrate like Ouma. I'd take Kassim by lopsided decision. I also agree with mic about Ouma's power...Mayorga's wouldn't fair too well after eating 500+ punches like Jantuah did.

Yeah but he wasn't tasting leather the whole time against them. He will be against Ouma. Unless he can hurt Ouma early he doesn't stand much of a chance. I don't buy that the weight gain was most of his stamina problem either. The man is notorious for bad training habits and he isn't exactly a poster boy for clean living.
Arrington 02-01-2005, 03:01 PM Right now I don't see anyone who can beat Ouma at 154 besides Winky, although I would love to see DLH vs Ouma
hollister 02-01-2005, 11:29 PM One thing though, Mayorga's alot faster than whatever his name was with his hands, he'd be landing alot more, and he carries his power well into the fight, when he's in shape, and at the right weight.
gotta c mayorgas comeback fite b4 i decide

I agree with that assessment, Ouma doesn't have great power but he can can bring some thunder if he has to. I don't see Mayorga lasting 12 against Ouma, Ouma's superior in all aspects.
Zab Super Judah 02-02-2005, 12:33 AM mayorga was gassed becuase he took those free shots frmo tito and it was his first fight at middleweight...look at his fights vs spinks and forrest ..he never got tired

Weight gain is a big problem for stamina. Any fighter will tell you that. Roy Jones at the begining of the fight was saying that Mayorga would have problems because of it and he was saying early in the fight, how will he hold up because you can see that he's not a real Middelweight. He also said that at the begining of the DLH-Sturm fight. He said Oscar is starting way too fast for fighting at a weight he has never fought at before and if he doesnt take Sturm out early then he will have some problems because he isnt use to all that weight
