How many buys does this fight do if Zab doesn't lose to Baldomir? I went from ordering it to watching it at a restaurant. Good figure. I think Mosley-Mayweather would do 400-500K. I think Mayweather-Margarito, while possibly a better fight, would be hard pressed to meet 350 and certainly wouldn't top it.

i agree that mosley mayweather could go 400, maybe 450, but no way 500k buys. i also agree that the margirito fight will be tough to market

Great numbers. Still he needs a good undercard and fight a name guy to make those figures. He could make some serious money fighting Mosley, DLH, Hatton, or Cotto.

I think your wrong about Mayweather vs Margarito not been able to meet the 350K PPV buys, Margarito has allot of mexican people following he's gettying A bigger name little by little, I think it would ATLEAST do 350 for sure!

Imagine if it had been for the Undisputed Welterweight Championship; that is, imagine if Judah hadn't lost to a guy named Carlos Baldomir.

that sounds good, i was expecting 400+ actually but you never can tell.

i love judah and mayweather so they were both the draw for me, even without the undercard fights which of course is always an added bonus.

it woulda done betta had Judah beaten Baldomir. And maybe if they had hyped the fight betta fo casual fans. They dint have Countdown to Judah vs May like they usually have fo HBO PPVs. They always show 2 fights from both combatants the week/Friday befo the event, but failed to do so fo this event too (only May vs Corrales and no Judah).

Yeah, thats why Judah's guarantee went from 3mil to 1mil, then percentage of sales.

That figure is off, and I'd love to see your source.

Steve Kim reported in February that the "Real Warriors" card did over 50,000 buys. While this is much less in comparison to other megafights, this was much more than what Top Rank needed to make money on the event. I will happily provide a link if requested, and I wish more people would responsibly source their assertions on here.

Also, I think a lot of people may be giving one party too much credit on the 350,000 buys. Mayweather would not have drawn in that amount of people just facing any welterweight. I believe that, except in the case of the ultrastars who draw viewers no matter what, buyrates are either the product of a match-up of a big name and another name big enough to make it a fight of interest, as well as a decent undercard; or the freak show factor -- after all, Tyson/McBride did decent numbers in today's era of buyrates, although far less than the numbers that Tyson fights did in their heyday.

Mayweather-Judah did well because it was marketed very effectively. But Mayweather should not consider himself a PPV draw just yet. Gatti-Mayweather was a result of both Gatti's faithful following and the intrigue of the conflicting styles and the expectation of a dramatic massacre. But if Mayweather thinks that he could face someone on the level of a Henry Bruseles on PPV and get away with it (like some of the Jones and De La Hoya shows in years past), his marketing is not yet there. Don't forget all the empty seats for Mayweather-Mitchell.

Me, I still try to watch as many fights as possible. I wonder how much more productive I could be if I skipped the undercards on the ESPN2 shows.
