View Full Version : So I am planning my vacation and need tips and help!
spinksjinx 01-31-2005, 12:16 PM Plan on going to Disney World in May for a week, I am 13 hours a way and Im not about to take the drive, so I am flying however I am under 21 and cant rent a car. The shuttle services seem outrageous (60 bucks one way or higher to my hotel) Then I would need shuttle from the hotel to the park.
Anyone know of any cheap discuont sites, Other than priceline/cheaptickets/orbitz/expedia/travelocity
Where I could book them? Or anyone actually from around their or been their and suggest a hotel with a nice decent paying shuttle?
Bombardier 01-31-2005, 12:18 PM Aren't there some budget hotels right on the Disney World grounds now? I know they're probably still more than the cheap places around it but if you don't have to worry about shuttle costs than you'll be saving $$$ anyway.

They have the pop resorts which are value, but the costs are anything but that. It's 1200 bucks just for 2 people for the room and tickets. Thats not counting airfare or food....That alone will rape me (food)

Damn, that's still pretty pricey. What hotels are you looking at? There are tons of cheap ones in Kissimmee and I'm sure one of them would have a cheaper shuttle than $60.
Would you be able to get a friend of your who's 21 to rent the car in his name but have you pick it up? I guess probably not.

Unfortunately no on the car. I was looking at staying at the Disney Resort, but would consider staying out as long as they provided a shuttle at opening time and closing time and isnt ridiculous.
Also on top of that the minus on staying outside the resort is food, Most likely their wouldnt be (decent) restauraunts in walking distance and with no car that kind of blows.
IwatchBoxing 01-31-2005, 12:31 PM Go Drive In Cricles Haha

Actually you might be okay on this, as long as you're just looking for fast food and chain sit-down places (like Chili's and that). The strip in Kissimmee with the motels is also packed with all kinds of other stuff, if I remember right (been there a few times, but not recently). It's meant for cars of course (what in Florida isnt?) but the walks wouldn't be too bad if you were going a few places down or something.

....When in May are you going and why Orlando? How long will you be staying? I live just South of Tampa and I have only stayed overnight in Orlando for the parks once. I got a hotel right on the premises at Universal. Whenever I drive by Orlando I always see cheap ass hotels advertised so I know they can be found. I wouldn't get a package deal and would just pay for the hotel separately and only get one that has complimentary shuttle service to the park.

The1God 01-31-2005, 12:52 PM Lots of campgrounds around there too, if you don't mind pitching a tent. That would save some change. I haven't been to Disney myself since 87. Avoid the package deals, but search the net for coupons. You can find lots of discounts that way. I do that when I go to Vegas, saves quite a bit as well. Good luck!

...I would actually put him up for 2 or 3 days but my wife may give me **** over a whole week. He is more than welcome to come and visit. I'm 20 minutes from the most beautiful beaches in Florida, 40 minutes from Bush Gardens, 15 minutes from The Devil Rays stadium, and about 30 minutes from a mini New Orleans down here called Ybor city.
SonnyG8R 01-31-2005, 01:50 PM Bush Gardens has much better rides, and you can get free beer at the brewery.

...Yep, and you don't even have to go to the actual brewery. You can get two free brews right around the corner from the kiddie section. We have season passes and we go at least twice a month. The parking is included and I hardly spend any money there. We go for like 4 or 5 hours with the kids or I just go with my son. Even though he is only 4 he can ride like 6 adult rides now because he is so tall.
