View Full Version : Mayweather's PPV Status?
What do you guys think? Again, I didnt see the fight but I do know that Floyd seemed to try top change his image for this fight. He was Mr. Nice guys in all the pre fight interviews and was talking about how he loved the media and such. Then in this fight when the brawl broke out it seems as if he stayed calm, and I dont know if its true or not but I heard that he even embraced Zab before the 12th round. Then I heard that he didnt rip Zab in the post fight interviews and stayed mature.
How was the crowd tonight? Did it seem as if they fulled the building? Was the fight exciting? Did Floyd perform good enough to become a PPV attraction. It was 1st percieved that he couldnt be one but has this fight changed your mind? Would you now pay to see a Mayweather PPV fight as long as its against someone solid? Do you think he can sell out arena's now?
Heres a good question. Do you think he looked good enough and has changed enough to sell out a arena against a guy like Margarito and is it a fight that could sell on PPV or do you think he hasnt reached that level yet and it should be a HBO fight?

I said in another post,I thought Floyd achived PPV status,he won me over and Id pay to see him fight.Something I wouldnt have said before the fight.Even if I did think him fighting Judah was a Joke, like you said he started off shaky but he wasnt discouraged and he just walked Judah down,I loved his performance.I did like how he kept his head after what Judah pulled.
A decision reversal like they are talking about would kind of kill it though,I would not pay to see Judah-Mayweather 2.

I think even if they did reverse the decision, that Floyd would definatly not fight him again after he clearly won, Zab showed no class, and he wouldnt want to allow Zab to have another big pay day
DiegoFuego 04-09-2006, 06:10 PM I would pay to see Mayweather fight Margarito, Hatton, or De La Hoya
Mr. Ryan 04-09-2006, 06:15 PM I still don't think that Mayweather can fight on PPV without another attraction in the other corner. His two fights on PPV helped him out, because of the domination of Gatti and the craziness of the melee in the 10th round. That kind of stuff is must see tv. But I don't think he can sella PPV without a De La Hoya or a Mosley in the other corner.
I would pay to see Mayweather fight Margarito, Hatton, or De La Hoya
You had better believe that.
Those three fights need to ****ing happen and I really don't think there are other fights that need to happen in that divison. I'm not concerned with the Gatti v.s. Baldy endeavour because I think all four of the mentioned fighters would beat Gatti and Baldomir easily.
They can wait on standby because the real attraction consists of the fighters...and not the damn "Undisputed" title.
BLOODSHED 04-09-2006, 06:21 PM Why would you pay to see Floyd-DLH? DLH hasn't been his olf effective self and years and Floyd hasn't fought a real challenge in years.
Wouldn't care to pay for this PPV.

Truth 04-09-2006, 06:34 PM I would definitley pay to see another Mayweather PPV...
DiegoFuego 04-09-2006, 06:37 PM The Golden Boy vs. The Pretty Boy?!?! Mayweather Sr. vs. Mayweather Jr.?!?! That would be the biggest fight in YEARS, man. Think about how much money that event would bring in.
kedashy 04-10-2006, 12:17 AM yes he behaved like he was a choir boy so he can market himself better than he has in the past ... but i tell you what there was seats all over it wasn,t a sellout by far at all and that ruckus that his uncle started being a 20 yr. veteran of the game knows that your not suppose to enter the ring before the end of the round or the fighter you represent will be disqualified that,s it...and back to mayfairy one fight he could sellout on ppv that would gaurantee no empty seat would be the margarito fight and believe me would rather keep fighting the opposition he,s use to fighting than step in the ring with the best welterweight champion at 147 who is strong and will bring straight pressure throughout the entire fight but that won,t happen because floyd knows he will not make it out of that fight with a win let alone getting straight knocked out :p

Ho-ly sh-it. WTF just happened here? Dude, did you actually make sense in a post? It took you 14,000 posts but you proved you can actually do it. You're right that DLH has slipped and that Floyd hasn't fought the best fighter in his division(s) in several years. You go! :)
I must say, though, that I would probably have to order this bout, just for the curiousity factor.

DLH didnt look that bad in his last fight he was not getting completely owned, even tho he was overmatched. well at least for the time he was on his feet

I think your boy is overrated and will look way over his head in this fight. Only thing he has going for him is the huge weight advantage but that wont be enough to save him. He couldnt even handle a weak boxer like Santos but he's going to handle a pure boxer like Floyd? Add to that he doesnt have the speed and hes not a lefty, he has no chance
Grimgash 04-10-2006, 01:21 AM Think tho, the fight did well considering the main factor. Judah lost his fight to "nobody". Quoted because baldy is good but who really knows him? That sort of took steam off it. Anyhow id pay for odlh, marg, or hatton. Those fights would be good to watch. Although I think the general public would pay the most for pbf vs dlh. Also I think that fight could be very entertaining. I think floyd can do very well on PPV regardless as long as hes fighting a good opponent. Tune up fights against nobodies will not do well. But like I said marg cant sell well but I think with pbf itll be good. Hatton isnt known tons but once promoting gets to work itll fair very nicely, and dlh pbf sells itself.
AIR_KENG 04-10-2006, 04:10 AM did mayweather say anything about this fight or his next opp?
in the post fight interview he said they were leaning towards a fight against DLH... He said a fight with margarito will happen when it happens but the focus is on DLH... :D
