tyson used his jab to get in and when he wanted to he threw a ****in mean fast, hard jab. he knocked down alfonso ratliff with his jab

Yeah, prime Tyson had a jab that helped him get in, Foreman had the punish you jab that helped setup his straight right. Holmes however built his entire career on the jab.

Virgil Hill also built his career on the Jab although he did it at middle weight.

I like Lewis's jab the best

Verstyle

but 1 had to remember without tysons jab it would have been impossible for him to get in and do his damage. thus not making him IRON mike tyson :)

Me too.I say out of that group Liston followed by Foreman and a distant 3rd Tyson.Like someone said earlier Holmes had a terrific Jab and probably still does...... :D

Wlads jab is good also...but I think his suspect chin has overshadowed his boxing skill...he almost always follows it with a straight right...basic but very effective from a guy his size

Holmes Jab was the best in the HW history, but I think Liston was the best from these 3, Foremon second & Tyson third.

Tyson was not a good jabber, he rarely used it & it was not that effective.

Liston has probably the best jab in heavyweight history and easily dominates that list.
It goes;
1. Liston
2. Foreman

3. Tyson

He didn't throw it that often so connection percentage was high.

guys guys guys. i said AFFECTIVE. tyson had to get in some how to use his hooks. so wouldnt that mean that his jab even if it didnt connect was a good way to get inside.and he didnt really use it to hit ppl he used it to get in. as u can see in his 80s fights alot of his jabs r very slow cause he is jus using it as a tool to get in :boxing:

not that afective. well can u tell me how he got in 90% of the times if it wasnt affective.I never considered Tyson be a great jabber, go watch Holmes in his prime, you will see a big guy with a great jab. Easily the best Jab in HW history, was Holmes.

hello hello hello hello. what dont u get its so siiiiiiiiimple on what im saying. tyson used his jab as a tool to get inside. thus makeing it affective cause of his short reach :) if u dont get it then i quit

Usually great jab artists are tall with a long reach. Shorter guys like Tyson, Marciano, Frazier tend to specialise more in hooks.

in the pinklon thomas fight for example he threw 12 and only landed 2. now either tyson is very sloppy and slow with his jab or he was using it to get in ;)

why does this ****** dick sucking queer keep making post about the rapist tyson?
anyway holmes didnt have much of a jab.the man just threw it all the time because he had nothing else.could he keep away a washed up norton with his jab..nope so the best jabs in the heavyweight division has or had to be lennox lewis or foreman.
both of them kept you at bay with their jabs.neither were hit much in their primes because of their jabs.they both had power on their jabs.few other fighters could claim the same

Yep, good ol' Julius Long:

http://boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=30144

I saw Julius Long against Terry Smith in Sept. 2005 and he's way better than his 14-7 record would suggest. The crazy thing about him is that he likes to stalk opponents and pin them to the ropes, wailing away with his long arms. He had Smith in trouble a couple times that way.

Although I don't think it will last very long (no pun intended), Julius is fighting Sam Peter on April 28:

http://boxrec.com/date_search.php?yyyy=2006&mm=04&dd=28

If Long tries to mix it up with Peter he's gonna end up the same way that Jeremy Williams did in Dec. 2004.
