View Full Version : Ray Austin talking trash about Wladimir Klitschko
Leo Pradun 03-30-2006, 07:37 AM Cleveland hero and IBF #2 heavyweight contender Ray Austin (25-3-3, 15KOs) said he hopes to battle the winner of the April 22nd Chris Byrd-Wladimir Klitschko contest. Austin prefers the younger Klitschko brother.
"That bum needs to be put in his place. You can't be in this game if you can't take any punches," he said in reference to Klitschko's suspect chin.
Is this guy stupid or something, if he ever gets in the ring with Klitschko he will get murdered...
enadeus 03-30-2006, 07:59 AM Never heard of this guy, or I might have but what is going to demand in the purse, he is going to get like 5%. I won't respect Wlad unless he goes straight for the Brewster rematch if he gets past Byrd.
Derranged 03-30-2006, 08:16 AM Never heard of this guy. Does anyone think he has a good chance of beating Wlad??

aight hold on man
ferocity 03-30-2006, 02:08 PM Austin has been around for a long time. And in this heavyweight mix he has arised from the journymen status and became a contender.Wlad would beat him but with Wlad you never know.
Oh god.
That's absolutely ridiculous man. Ray was also calling virtually everyone out and made the biggest mistake of all time...accidentally saying: "Thank you H.B.O." when he fought on showtime.
Wlad T.K.O. 3

are u serious, he really did that, thas funny...
mokele 03-30-2006, 02:58 PM I've seen Ray Austin fight and he's just plain lousy, a big, tall man with average power for his size and not much overall skill or athletic ability. He clinches all the time on the inside too, which makes for ugly fights. Wladdy's not much of an inside fighter, but he at least listens to the referee. I saw some clips of his fight with DaVarryl Williamson with Jay Nady as referee. If you've seen Nady before you know that he doesn't tolerate a lot of holding, and warned Wladdy a few times. So Wladdy quit holding. Williamson was doing more holding than Wladdy for the rest of the fight, stopped on cuts with Klitschko winning on the scorecards.

Yep he said that.
Oh and on a side note...Austin is garbage. I don't think anyone in the top 10 would have a hard time beating him.

lol,,,derrick jefferson knocked out austin who was savagely taken out in 2 rounds by wlad. it would be a mismatch. wlad within 3 rounds

After Wlad beat Jefferson's ass.
Jefferson when asked what he was going to do from here on:
"man I'm Derrick Jefferson! Maybe I'll take up Golf!"
What else was funny about that fight....was when Merchant asked him to describe what happend when he got hit....he said:
"As you can see there....we was in an all out battle!"
But Wlad was just raping him. LOL.
AintGottaClue 03-30-2006, 05:58 PM wonder when bozo is gonna come in and say that wlad was KO'd by ross purity, sanders and lamon and ray austin has a great chance and the nuthuggers are blinded blah blah blah

Merchant was a Derrick Jefferson nuthugger right up until he was destroyed by Wlad.
badblood 03-31-2006, 11:40 AM Come on people, yall have never heard of Ray Austin?? His last fight on SHOBOX with Owen Beck was a good fight.

Well, Ray Austin's kind of crafty for a big, ugly, clumsy guy. He's sort of a taller, slower version of John Ruiz.
"What the heck" Owen Beck will next get himself pole-axed by Valuev. Wait a minute, maybe that's been cancelled. I don't know who Valuev's fighting June 3.

Even the most diehard Wlad fans must be afraid whenever he steps in the ring after seeing him dead on his feet against fighters like Sanders and Brewster?????
Any heavyweight that can stay standing for 5 rounds has a chance against Wlad...his stamina and chin are very suspect...
Hitman932 03-31-2006, 03:02 PM austin wont be fighting klitschko, he will be too busy withing nicolai valuev for the WBA after King hooks him up.

Is that because virtually "every" heavyweight is held in the same regard as Lamon Brewster?
I don't think so. Brewster is universally recognized as the best heavyweight now. So that point is really moot.
I'm pretty sure everyone is nervous about Wlad stepping into the ring when he has 45 wins 40 coming by way brutal knockout.
If anything it's the opposite way around....people should be really nervous for the other fighter.
Kid Achilles 03-31-2006, 03:13 PM Wlad has only been rocked and hurt by men who are known as hard punchers. I do not think his chin is any worse than Rahman's.
Hitman932 03-31-2006, 03:16 PM CMON GUYS KEVIN MCBRIDE 286 POUNDS????
discuss this, i want to see pictures.

Mercer landed several good shots on Wlad, leading to his eye being swollen before he was taken out. Mercer as everyone knows was racking up highlight reel knockouts prior to that fight...and he didin't even phase him.
Mcline landed plenty of punches and Mcline isin't a featherfisted guy by any means whatsoever.
"Chin" is always confused with stamina and mental conditioning. Something the older version of Wladimir seemed to struggle with, but has been making positive steps towards correcting under the aid of Steward.

He's a big guy dude.
He's like 6'7 and really broad shouldered. I could understand him weighing that much or more naturally.

286 is a lot even for him. he weighed 270 against tyson, 16 pounds is a big jump in one fight. he weighed 254 in 2002

Yeah, but those big guys carry weight well.
Nicolai Valuev could weigh 415 and look virtually the same as he does now. As it stands...that guy is lean at his size = Scary.

i gotta see a picture of this 286 pound mcbride to believe he is lean at this weight

no no.
I was referring to Valuev, but yeah. We need to see a picture of Mcbride however.

wlad only really gassed against brewster when he was throwing over 70 punches per round and hes only been hurt by big punchers. austin isnt a big puncher and I'd hardly be worried watching that fight. it would be an easy knockout win for wlad. complete mismatch
badblood 03-31-2006, 05:32 PM I remember when Austin fought in that HW tourny put on by CKP. That was along time ago and has been forgot about by todays boxing fans.
Kid Achilles 03-31-2006, 06:39 PM Wait did Ray Austin ever fight in Thunderbox? Anyone remember that ridiculous program? I seem to recall seeing him now that I think about it.
I remember when Austin fought in that HW tourny put on by CKP. That was along time ago and has been forgot about by todays boxing fans.
Sure he's been forgotten and his victory over Beck can't fly under the radar for too long. But come on man....you can't tell me he has a shot in hell at backing up what he claims about Wlad.
He'll get his ass reamed because he's nowhere near his level. Austin could maybe hope for a lucky punch, but even then...Peter landed horrible crippling punches on the back of Wlad's head that surely would have put anyone else out for the count. That has to count for something.
Seeing as a matter of Austin just simply trying to survive and land a big punch won't cut it.
Austin has that walking gaurd style that Wlad eats alive. He'll slap the gaurd down with the left hand, then land straight punches on him....putting his damn health in jeopardy.

hes gonna get hurt by someone who can punch hard...

415? when???? I dont belive it...
