hi,
im 15 and ive bin boxin for about 4 months now but today i took 3 of the hardest punches in boxin ive ever taken one of them was to my nose and the other 2 to me temple. The kid that done it i can usually beat but today i just messed up, i dont think i was in full fitness, ive never fainted before but i think i was close to bein knocked out, i just completely lost track of where i was, i coudln't hear anything my vision was all distorted, was i close to gettn knocked out? and can any one give me tips on how to take hard punches to the face and nose, or is it just a matter of getting used to it. I suppose my trainer said what ever doesn't kill only makes you stronger. thnx kaz
warm your face up before sparring. many pro boxers do this before fights if you noticed.
another good tip i've heard from someone was to put vaseline on your face or even put vas on you and your sparring partners gloves. that reduces the risk of getting caught as flush as well as helping to prevent cuts.
if you train at a boxing gym, wouldn't your trainers be able to help you with this?

Neck bridges help build the neck up to protect with taking punches. You just have be careful when doing them. There must be a website somewhere to show how to do them right.

I would agree, build up your neck muscles. Look at holyfield, his neck was bigger than his head and hes never been knocked out.

the neck helps alot because it prevents yoru head from slipping back wich causes your brain to hit the inside fo yoru skull....
but um... yeh.. i have never been hit flush before..only c couple good shots to the ribs...and the worst i ever felt..was dizziness, and that my eyes were bulging out

chin down, tight defence, tuck ur hands in tight againt ur body and head.
when ur out of distance use ur parry and move.
sometimes the most basic answers are the best. sometimes u gotta move, like James Brown says.
