View Full Version : Im hearing great news, but it sounds too good to be true....
Enayze 01-28-2005, 08:40 PM First off, it looks like it's gonna be Vitali vs Rahman, and than I'm hearing that Toney is getting a shot at Ruiz, and Wlad is rematching Chris Byrd. This all works out wonderfully. If Vitali beats Rahman, and Wlad beats Byrd, than they will achieve there dream, and if Toney defeats Ruiz than it will set up Vitali vs Toney, and Wlad vs Brewster/Golota, if possible by King. The ultimate unification, and two brothers at the top of the world.
enadeus 01-28-2005, 08:43 PM I think Vitali will win, Ruiz will win, and ultimately its going to be Ruiz vs Vitali. I really want to see this fight, after thinking it over I think I want to see Ruiz vs Vitali more than Golota vs Vitali. Vladimir is a big ?. The guy has really confused me his last couple of fights. However, If he paces himself I dont see Byrd winning.
SonnyJ 01-29-2005, 09:28 AM yeah, these times are governed by money. it's rare when the good fights happen
ShotgunSeanK 01-29-2005, 09:34 AM toney will destroy ruiz
spinksjinx 01-29-2005, 09:50 AM I havent heard anything about byrd vs wladimir. Byrd would fatigue that giant this time around.
BrooklynBomber 01-29-2005, 11:29 AM Baltimore Sun stated that contract is 90% completed and Wlad will fight Byrd on April 30
in Germany.
spinksjinx 01-29-2005, 11:47 AM I will believe it when I see it. Wlad was getting taken to school by williamson who boxed his ears off, Byrd will win down the stretch.
The formula for Wlad is already laid out and their is no secrets to hide anymore. Either you hit like you got bricks in your glove and come straight at Wlad, or you be cautious and let him punch himself out in the first 4-6 rounds and then take it up in the late.
Wlad needs to fight a top 15-25 guy before fighting a guy like Byrd at this point.
The blueprint is laid out.

...You must have watched a different fight than I did. Williamson ran from Wlad, offered nothing, and would have been knocked out in the next round or two.
trephination 01-29-2005, 11:54 AM Toney hopefully will send ruiz back to obscurity where he belongs
spinksjinx 01-29-2005, 11:55 AM Davarryl said he was going to run for the first half and then box in the 2nd half, in which he did just that. Williamson didnt make some bull**** excuse after the fight he told his gameplan flat out in the beginning and he did what he said he was going to do. I do believe if it went down the stretch and Williamson didnt get caught he would have gotten the decision.

I don't think so, Wlad limited his output of punches, and looked like he was prepared for the later rounds. Not to mention it was only a 10 round fight. In any case the story here is Wladimir vs Byrd!!!

just my opinion, but this post destroys any further credibility of yours on this subject :P
jack_the_rippuh 01-29-2005, 04:10 PM Heavyweight boxing has to suck.
I'm hearing people say they want to see Ruiz..
That just doesn't make sense..

I didnt see Wlad dominate Davarryl.
Wlad has a glass chin and not so much stamina issues but the man doesnt know how to pace himself.

domination could also be a points situation, i.e. dominate on points.. and when a fighter chases around another fighter, who do you think get's the judges points? the chaser or the runner?
both WK's chin and stamina can possibly be questioned for those who seek to find the dents in his armor. I don't believe he punched himself out against Brewster and I never will. This doesn't mean it's not possible for him to, but I've seen him go the full distance w/o trouble before. IF I were to put all my chips on it, I'd go with LL's strategy he formed when hiding behind other fighters, to go hard and go directly to WK's chin with all you've got. This seems to be a fail-safe way unless WK can train his chin somehow.
regardless, it promises to be a good fight if it does go through since byrd doesn't have that KO power that WK fears.

you know I was thinking that exact same thing but didn't post it yesterday
Ivansmamma 01-29-2005, 05:16 PM Williamson woulden't have beaten Wlad, Wlad would have outboxed him for the rest of the fight.

Don't you see, though? This is all part of King's plan. He has 2 lackluster champs in Byrd and Brewster who woul have trouble filling a High School for big money, then he has Ruiz. Everyone hates Ruiz. People will pay the big money to watch a Ruiz fight because they hate him and want to see him demolished. Ruiz probably makes King more money then Byrd and Brewster combined.
ejk22 01-29-2005, 05:36 PM I am just curious to see/hear if Wlad really sold his soul to the devil known as Don King.

It's doubtful, however it may be the best option for Wladimir at this point in his career. With him and Vitali having K-2 promotions, I could see him letting Don have some options. I think it would be wise but doubtful, he didnt have any on him the first fight with Byrd though.

Byrd was not promoted by Don King at that time.

Alright thanks for the heads up, I was unaware of that and wondered about it. For some reason, I thought Byrd was promoted by King around the time of the Ibeabuchi fight. But thanks for the clarification.
When did he get signed by King?

......So tell me Newbie, what exatly did Williamson do in that fight that was impressive. I notice you called him Williams in another thread so I'm guessing you didn't even see the fight. Your bull**** has a strong stench indeed. That red line of yours is gonna get bigger and bigger. lol lol lol
tri4ben2 01-29-2005, 06:17 PM Although the end was lame, Wlad out boxed Williamson in every round, and with the exception of the knockdown round, I believe Wlad was given the rest by the judges. The one round was 10-8.
As for the knockdown, it was legit becuase Wlad's hand touched the ground after the punch. Anybody that thinks that the knockdown was due to a huge blow (like in the Sanders fight) is greatly confused.
If and when Wlad fights Byrd, I think that Wlad has the ability and discipline to win rounds. I predict a relatively boring fight where neither figher commits and Wlad wins 8-4 in rounds.
I hope they get a rematch clause and WK beats byrd twice!
:p
at least there's a chance the Klitschko brothers can have their dream, that would be cool, cause WK at least deserves that :)
