View Full Version : Was not impressed by Edwin Valero at all.....
The_One77 03-29-2006, 12:04 PM His punches are too wild and wide, and his defence isn't great at all...he also sometimes slaps with his punches.
I just saw his last fight where the guy lasted 2 rounds and Valero looked amateurish to say the least, a good slick boxer imo would beat him easily.
You could already see that he was breathing hard in the first round because he couldn't knock him out ,and was even worse in the second. He took good solid punches and counters because of his poor defence....
Imo, he's the crap version of Ricardo Mayorga
ferocity 03-29-2006, 12:08 PM Can you upload his fight?
Even Mayorga took some loses before he became a top fighter.

In some of his earlier fights he looked very polished but I agree with you (I have not seen his latest fight) that in his last 4 or 5 fights he has looked more like an amatuer almost exclusively looking for the KO.
The knockout streak needs to end for Edwin to get truly better...he needs to go 5 or 6 tough rounds...I have never seen Vicente Mosquera fight but he is supposed to be a bad ass so it should be interesting when he gets his shot.

sounds like a worse version of miranda
i was saying the same basic stuff about miranda except miranda wasnt slapping and wasnt breathing heavy somehow
still a decent boxer will knock him out i think
Chups 03-29-2006, 12:42 PM He has a high entertainment value. Knocking out guys 18 time consecutively is hard to do even if they were taxi drivers and janitors.
Knicksman20 03-29-2006, 01:16 PM Valero has been looking like an amateur lately. It's hard to believe this is the same kid that looked damn good against Erik Morales in a sparring session. He was accurate, great footwork, & didn't get hit as much as he's getting tagged now. He better prepare himself going into this title fight & try not to be KO happy.

In sparring with Morales, Valero knew he couldn't ko or hurt Morales so he sparred him techniquly. I haven't seen his pro fights but it sounds like, Valero needs to learn to be relaxed in the ring as he was in sparring, instead of wild and eager for the ko.

I was shocked when I saw he handled Yoda 3K like he did. I've heard nothing but positives about Mosquera's skills too. I look forward to him getting a crack at a big name guy.
eazy_mas 03-29-2006, 11:45 PM It too dangerous for him to fight good or even decent boxers.
Imagine someone with a crack in the skull getting tired in round 4. The other person could literally KO him to death.
The_One77 03-30-2006, 10:25 PM yeah, i think he should really slow down abit and work on his boxing skill...he's got great potential due to his power but when he steps up in class and can't knock the guy out within the first 5 rounds, he's likely to lose.
Violent Demise 03-30-2006, 10:32 PM I think Valero should beat some C level fighters first, before he gets a title shot.
mr. bojangles 03-30-2006, 11:10 PM If Mosquera keeps his poise and distance, not get intimidated, he has a chance to beat Valero in the late rounds. Mosquera has pop in his punches as well, no doubt after seeing his fight with Yodsanan 3K. Valero never got past the 1st round until just recently, his stamina is highly suspect given the amount of pressure and energy he puts up from the get go.
eazy_mas 03-31-2006, 02:00 AM I seen some of his vids.
not impressive most of his KO is because of his oppenete lack of ability.
here is a list of cons:
- Shots are wid and slow.
- does not use the jab and hooks that much only the jab for the stright left.
- very very bad combination. He really does not have good combination and that is very bad espically if you have some power.
- Stamina
He tend to lean forward for his strong punchs and put his right hand in the front. If someone counterpuncher his straight-left he is a gonner because all his body is leaned forward.
