View Full Version : Tyson and Holmes at 38
tonytucker 01-28-2005, 02:55 PM I'm thinking back in time to 1988 when Holmes fought Tyson. Tyson brutally knocked Holmes out in the fourth round-Holmes was 38 at the time. Now Mike is 38 years old. My question is this-If Holmes and Tyson fought when they were both 38 at the same time, then who would win? Call me a psychotic madman if you will, but the voices in my head are telling me that Holmes would win by a decision, or a late round stoppage-you dig? Later brother brolog.

holmes by ko.
Kornhusker 01-28-2005, 03:48 PM I didn't see the Danny Williams fight, so the last image I have of Tyson is the beating that Lewis gave him. That version would be in trouble against Holmes at any age, Larry by easy UD.
Kid Achilles 01-28-2005, 03:52 PM Tyson is a terrible fighter these days. Holmes was still pretty decent in that at least he fought with skill and intelligence at that age. Tyson at this point has been reduced to a one dimensional slugger. A one dimensional slugger who hates getting hit and has below average stamina.
Holmes by KO.
Colonel Jones 01-30-2005, 01:26 AM At any equal age, Holmes beats Tyson easily. He was just better. Simple as that. Tyson even has said similiar thing.
In 1988, Tyson simply overwhelmed Holmes with speed and power. At 38 he would never be able to do that. He is much slower now and past the first round he his a one-punch-fighter. Holmes would tear him apart with his jab and knock him out in the later rounds. At the very least he would win by UD.
marvelous_TG 01-30-2005, 07:03 AM i uploaded the highlights of the fight. go check it out.
TheRealDunnagan 01-30-2005, 12:33 PM neither holmes nor mike faced quality opposition. all of their significant victories were to guys out of their prime, or bums..
holmes used his ****ing thumb more than anything. watch the scott ledoux fight..he knows he wasn't a legitimate champion, otherwise he wouldn't feel like he still has to ****ing much to prove. I mean come on he's 50 years old trying to bark at George's door like he still has something to prove, he made the butterbean ordeal out to be a real accomplishment ,meh these things make me think larry just needs to retire. he's mad that the public likes mike and george more, and is jealous..
tyson ko 1/2
fist-of-fury 01-30-2005, 11:12 PM Holmes would make mincemeat of Iron MIke. If the fight lasts the distance, MIke's face would be so puffed up like burnt popcorn from Larry's jabs.
Hurlex 01-30-2005, 11:21 PM What about young Tyson vs young Holmes...young tyson was a beast

Now, that's a different story. Holmes wouldn't last 3 rounds with the YOUNG Mike.
jayrichardse 01-31-2005, 12:12 AM they both sucked at that age

Tyson fought a good fight against Williams, and if it wasn't for his injury, Tyson would've KO'd Willimas in the third round. Tyson who fought Williams would catch Holmes and KO him but it wouldn't be as easy as the first fight.
