México, 27 Ene (Notimex).- El mexicano Marco Antonio Barrera expondrá el campeonato superpluma del CMB contra el sudafricano Mzonke Fana, en combate obligatorio en sede y fecha por definir en los próximos días.
La oficina del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB) con sede en esta ciudad informó hoy que Fana llegará a esta contienda como retador oficial después de ganar la eliminatoria a Randy Suico, de Filipinas, el año pasado.

Mzonke Fana, con record de 22 triunfos y dos derrotas, ha ostentado los campeonatos de Sudáfrica e Internacional del CMB.

Barrera adquirió el compromiso de enfrentar al retador oficial, que será el sudafricano cuando se concreten las negociaciones de su promotor.

Smart move I'd say. A safe mandatory against a feather-fisted South African after a life-and-death struggle against El Terrible.

He should fight a named fighter after this mandatory defense. Someone like JMMarquez, Harrison or Chi...or perhaps a unification fight with the WBA superfeatherweight champ. :)

Fana was down twice againts a flat footed Randy Suico. and almost down again in 3 other rounds inclding the 12th. He survived by holding and hugging. Barrera will kill him :(

Suico should get a rematch against Fana

Randy needs to fight a named contender to be noticed, someone like Peden, Gomez, Arthur or the washed-up Mantecas Medina.
Suico must also hook-up with a good trainer to improve his skills, he's such a devastating puncher but he lacks lateral movement.

Who the hell is Mzonke Fana? It's soft touches like these that get Barrera unprepared for the likes of Pacquiao. Remember the Tapia and Kelly fights and what they did to him as far as being mentally prepared to fight a whirlwind.

Oh yeah, the guy who robbed Randy Suico. This fight is done in 5 rounds. The guy is garbage. It appears that Barrera is bowing down to the Governing bodies by fighting this mandatory.

Was Suico really ROBBED in this fight? Or was it close enough?
