View Full Version : What would you tell your favorite fighteror any if you could go back in time? ELPacman 03-24-2006, 10:38 AM Specifically, I guess to save them from a devastating loss they would be taking in a bout? THE REAL NINJA 03-24-2006, 10:44 AM Specifically, I guess to save them from a devastating loss they would be taking in a bout? roy jones not to fight tarver ...ali not to fight after frazier 3..marciano not to get on the plane ....lots of fighters lots of stuff ...oh and tyson not to fight buster or train for the damn fight lol JuicyJuice 03-24-2006, 10:48 AM Mike Tyson to retire after Spinks fight, Nigel Benn to retire after McClellan fight. RAESAAD 03-24-2006, 10:48 AM I would tell Tyson to keep his dick in his pants so we could have seen Holyfield/Tyson a few years earlier. :) RAESAAD 03-24-2006, 11:14 AM I would tell Tyson to keep his dick in his pants so we could have seen Holyfield/Tyson a few years earlier. :) For the record Tyson is NOT my favorite fighter I just would have liked to see this match-up sooner. JOM'S 03-24-2006, 11:15 AM i would have warned Salvador Sanchez of his joy ride ... morancito 03-24-2006, 11:28 AM I would try to convince JCC to actively try to take on Sweet Pea right after the Rosario fight. Some years later, I would try to convince him to stay the **** away from Pernell. Oh, and Joms beat me to it. Chava was my first choice. flipside 03-24-2006, 11:28 AM i would tell luisito espinosa to KO cesar soto so that he can fight hamed Mishra100 03-24-2006, 11:34 AM To tell SRR to invent the camcorder earlier so that someone could use it during his career. mokele 03-24-2006, 11:47 AM Many of the losses suffered by fighters that I was rooting for were due to inferior conditioning or preparation. Sometimes a fighter was just doomed by a stylistic matchup that could not work for them. Trinidad-Hopkins : Felix would have had a better chance if he had come in lighter and faster. Trinidad was a natural welterweight who was too slow and underpowered at middleweight. I would have suggested to him that he train down to around 152 lbs. or so in order to stay quick for the whole fight. Foreman-Jimmy Young : George was out of shape, plain and simple. Sharkey-Dempsey : protect yourself at all times! Don't look away after a low blow! Norton-Shavers : for crying out loud, Kenny, the guy's a powerhouse! Stay outside, stick and move, and don't get trapped on the ropes! RwK 03-24-2006, 11:54 AM I would tell Johnny Tapia to fight even harder than he did in the two robberies against Ayala, and the robbery against Archuleta....in coalition with avoiding Barrera completely when he was old. That way he would have never lost a fight. MickyHatton 03-24-2006, 12:41 PM I would tell Joe Louis to get an accountant so he could pay his taxes on time, thus stopping him being knocked out by Marciano after he was forced to fight to pay the bills well passed his prime! I also would have told him to keep his left hand up higher when throwing his right against Max Schmeling in the first fight! ThunderGatti 03-24-2006, 01:07 PM I would tell Billy Conn to box Joe Louis for the last 3 rds of the 1st fight indstead of goin for the knockout and thus he would have been the heavyweyght champ of the world and probably would have been put in some top 10 lists as greatest of all time for heavyweights (I have Conn at # 1 at Light Heavyweight, w/ Archie Moore at a close 2). Billy said it best though after the Louis fight, "Whats the point of being Irish if you cant be thick." Dempsey 1919 03-24-2006, 02:09 PM tell a young clay not to join the NOI so the world could have seen what prime ali would have really looked like.(1967-1970) m00ks 03-24-2006, 02:15 PM i would have told meldrick taylor to run in the 12th round, or to at leats say i'm ok. Derranged 03-24-2006, 03:11 PM I would tell Wladimir watch out for that Sanders straight left :D yrrej 03-24-2006, 03:36 PM You can tell them anything you want. They're still going to do it. It's their nature. If they didn't think they could win somehow, they wouldn't be in the ring.... MetalVomit 03-24-2006, 03:41 PM I'd tell Evander Holyfield to "hang the gloves the **** up" after the Rahman win. Go out on a winning note. Piggu 03-24-2006, 03:41 PM I would teach Joe Louis to invent the internet. lol :D Then he wouldn't need money. MetalVomit 03-24-2006, 03:41 PM i would have told meldrick taylor to run in the 12th round, or to at leats say i'm ok. Yeah, I just watched that fight a week ago, all he had to do was respond to the ref, and he would have won. Piggu 03-24-2006, 03:42 PM I would teach Joe Louis to invent the internet. lol :D Then he wouldn't need money. Except I don't know how the internet works. :( Violent Demise 03-24-2006, 04:50 PM I would of told Terry Norris to take the Trinidad fight (And 3 million). Don't wait for De La Hoya. Norris got knocked out in the tune-up fight for Oscar. UntouchableM2 03-24-2006, 04:58 PM Tyson.....not to **** w/Don King..... abdiel2k3 03-24-2006, 05:00 PM i would say erik u dumb fuk stick to the body dont go head hunting do it like the last fight be a true professional beat that body then go for the head late but BEAT THAT BODY!!! the_truth_1984 03-24-2006, 06:18 PM I would tell Castillo to run after he dropped Corrales twice.I would have at least told him to take a knee when he got hurt.I would have told Sam Peter to stay away from Wlad he's too damn tall.I would have told Ike Ibeabuchi that raping that chick was a bad idea.I would have told Roy Jones to stay at hw going back down to lhw is going to be tough on your body.I would have told McClellan to do his best to get the fight with Benn in the u.s. and if it didn't happen to turn down the fight.I would have told Vivian Harris to box and move and not blow his load so early. borikua 03-24-2006, 08:43 PM I would have told Tito to retire after beating Mayorga....To fight Quartey instead of Winky...To call out DLH for the rematch with a 50/50 split... borikua 03-24-2006, 08:47 PM I will tell Cotto not to feel guilty for Malignaggi’s death...;) dangerous dave 03-24-2006, 09:01 PM I'd tell Lewis not to be so arrogant and stop listening to yes men. All time great! Torino 03-24-2006, 09:10 PM I don't really have a favorite, but there are many boxers over the years that I've been a fan of. There is one that comes to mind that I would tell to "keep it in his pants, don't to marry that woman, and stay away from Don King". JuicyJuice 03-24-2006, 09:13 PM Except I don't know how the internet works. :( Neither do I :D Round 1 03-24-2006, 09:41 PM I'd advice Morales not to drop his head trainer from his camp. KYTFO 03-25-2006, 03:02 PM these are not my favorite fighters btw... i wouldve told roy just to retire on top like the badass he was at time. when he wont the heavyweight title. i wouldve told vargas to take a couple more fights with big punchers. before taking on a devastating puncher like trinidad so early. besides quartey i dont think he fought a one punch knock out artist like trinidad. trinidad took that man's chin and confidence back home with him to p.r :( shemmue 03-25-2006, 04:25 PM wilfredo gomez - to take salavador sanchez seriously.. tito trinidad - to dump his dad as trainer and take joe goosen before the hopkins and winky fights..not sure if he would of won anyway but the fights would of been alot closer .. legend 03-25-2006, 04:28 PM Before Foreman fought Ali, I would tell him to conserve his energy, that Ali can take a punch better than people think. I'd tell him to pick his spots to throw power punches and lean on Ali to tire him. Then, we would be talking about Foreman as the "Greatest". Zab Super Judah 03-25-2006, 04:29 PM I would tell Judah to drop his dad as trainer, simple as that |
