View Full Version : Vick- This Is As Good As He'll Ever Be
jabsRstiff 01-27-2005, 08:41 AM Michael Vick....
The most overrated sports figure of today.
I'm tired of hearing about what kind of athlete he is. I'm tired of hearing how he's revolutionizing the game of football. I'm tired of hearing of what a "weapon" he is.
What you all saw this past Sunday is what you'll see with Vick every time he faces good defenses, run by intelligent defensive coaches.
Vick will never be a pocket passer. His running style will get his team only so far.
SonnyG8R 01-27-2005, 08:53 AM I disagree. I think Vick is one of the most athletic players in the NFL. The only way to beat him is to have a great defensive line and great defensive backs which Philly does. Most teams don't have that combination.
jabsRstiff 01-27-2005, 09:05 AM There we go again.....the word "ATHLETIC" being used with Vick.
That's my point. Vick's style will get him to a point....but in the bigger games he'll be facing excellent defenses....& that's why he'll always come up short.
SonnyG8R 01-27-2005, 09:15 AM Just look at the Falcons record with Vick and without him. The guy is elusive as hell and can throw on the run. Blitzing alone won't stop him because he can get away from all but the very best pass rushes and if you don't have a lb or fs targeting him he can run for big yards. He's also shown he can throw on the run. If the falcons improve their offensive line and give Vick a legit deep threat, their offense will be nearly unstoppable.

...I rarely agree with you on anything Jabs but on this I agree 100%.
Explosivo 01-27-2005, 10:11 AM Ive been saying this all year. Vick is the most overrated in the NFL. During the season I was getting so sick on every Falcons game being on and having to listen to the commentators constantly stroking Vick. He can run, but whenever he does he gets up limping. I also dont think this explosive speed of his is going to last forever so he better work on his passing because hes going to need it sooer or later. The guy does make the Falcons a better team, but there is no way he can take them all the way all by himself. Im glad the Chargers traded that pick to Atlanta and got LT and Dwight.
Bombardier 01-27-2005, 10:14 AM There's a freshman QB named Vince Young who plays for Texas who plays like Vick but looks way better. He kicked ass in the Rose Bowl...some of his runs were unbelievable, and his arm seems better too. And he's just a freshman.
I think a lot of guys will start emulating Vick but be way better at it. Vick might turn into something like Drew Bledsoe...one the best young QB in the league but overtaken by yougner stars.
Course I think Vick still might break out and become a superstar...I'm not as down on him as some of you guys.
DR. FREECLOUD 01-27-2005, 10:42 AM you guys have no clue what its like living in the metro-atlanta area. it sux having to hear all the vick ****. i swear his **** smells like roses to atlanta fans. personally i think he is very talented but not as a qb. his career will be short lived if continues to run. he will be on hte injured list more than on the field. remember last year when he was always hurt? i think it was b.s. he didn't want to play because they weren't doing that good. he didn't want it to make him look bad cause after all....he's the one man show. when atlanta get a qb that doesn't panic and run out of the pocket everytime and instead works the pocket and makes complete passes then they will b the champs. i just don't think vick has it in him.
bigdaddy 01-27-2005, 11:17 AM Vick sucks. He can't throw the ball down field. Even if you listen to Mora (his coach) he even says that he can't throw down field. All he can do is run. Might as well Vick as the running back and use there other qb to run the plays and throw ball. At least he can throw it accuratly down field.
jack_the_rippuh 01-27-2005, 11:50 AM Donovan McNabb use to be just like Vick. But Vick better keep doing what he's doing...look at that contract.

Damn, McNabb sure schooled Vick in that game. Every play Vick would drop back, wait like two seconds to look for the open man, panic, then try to run it and get stuffed. McNabb would hang in the pocket, take his time, dodge defenders, then toss it out for a huge gain when the time was right. He might be the top QB in the league right now though Brady will give him a run for his money. Still, I'd take him over Peyton easy.

Yeah, I think Manning is an overrated quarterback..
DR. FREECLOUD 01-27-2005, 12:17 PM there are even commercials here with him in them and i'm like "wtf did he say?" it doesn't matter what he said as long as the product and michael vick were mentioned. what a sad society.
Floydmayweather 01-27-2005, 12:28 PM Vick is good but Manning is better in my opinion just look at the numbers they dont lie. I think New England will always give him trouble but once he figures them out the Colts will go all the way. Vick is real good now but he is going to become a much better pacer and run less. He will still put the same fear in defenses though. ;)
Yeah, I think Manning is an overrated quarterback..
...McNads couldn't hold Mannings jock. Peyton is better in every single statistical category. McNad shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as the guy who just broke the all time NFL touchdowns in one season record.

....New Englands defense will make McNab look like Vick did in the Eagles game.

Peyton does great cause he's plays in a sterile, windless dome. Put him in Philly and see what happens...same thing that happens to him every year in New England. It's not like McNabb's stats aren't incredible, either...look at his win percentage. What counts is wins which is why I'd put Brady first and McNabb #2.
The Colts put all their cap money into the offence. If Philly did the same thing (which they wouldn't, cause they're not that stupid) than McNabb would be breaking the same records.

The Colts can only win if it's a high scoring affair.
The way he broke the record looked like **** compared to how Marino did it..
jabsRstiff 01-27-2005, 01:38 PM Obviously....Manning & Co. are not good enough to secure home field advantage through the playoffs.
Maybe they'd advance if they were a little less beatable throughout the regular season, huh ?
mic573 01-27-2005, 03:12 PM Vick better start improving on his passing skills because once he is in the league a few years and injuries start occuring what's going to happen then?
It is true that Vince Young from UT plays like Vick but he is a much better passer.
