I will get it but I'm not foaming at the mouth for it because unlike FN 3 its a single player game and I'm not going to get my ass beat because I did not buy it the same the same month it came out. I'm also playing KOTOR 2 right now which is a long RPG in itsself. So I can wait a few weeks for Oblivion and let the hype build

I dnt like morrowind. Could never understand the hype that surrounds the series and felt it was boring. But people r entitled tot their own opinions.

I was not a big fan of Morrowind either. I had some fun times and some boring times but all of my major complaints with Morrowind were addressed with Oblivion. I wanted mounts, action combat, and improved NPC Ai. Those are the main areas Oblivion has improved over MW.

7001 Oblivion is single player. There is only content download. There might be a PC patch but not for a year or two.

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m 6 hours into this monkey and its already the best RPG that I have played in many many years, maybe even the best ever. Its hard to judge a game after 6 hours but when you consider that most RPGs start off slow I am more then impressed.

I love the fact that after 5 hours I have only completed 1 mission and I am still level 1. I have only visited one city faced a few monsters and one human. You get the feeling that this is a 100 hour game without feeling stretched with fetch and step missions and random encounters. The most impressive thing so far was my first mission and that says a lot when you consider that I have been busy doing so much other stuff that I only completed on mission. If all of the missions are this good this is GOTY easy.

Minor spoiler below….

My first mission was to join the thieves guild I had to compete with two other potential members to see who could steal some guys diary. I could tell one potential member was clueless so I ignored him and followed the other one who was a female thief. She went right to the house picked the guys lock and stole his diary. I pick pocket her keys and broke into her house. Her (what I thought was her lesbian lover) attacked me. This girl was beating my ass so I ran out and swigged a healing potion. She runs out the door attacking me cussing like a sailor. My character is a female sorcerer, I broke out my nasty fire blast spell and let her have it. She drank a potion turned invisible like the stealth mode in Halo and ran away moving like she also drank a potion of speed. Later on I found her body in the city. Any other game and her body would have disappeared. I cant name any other game where a character would have a crazy lesbian lover, nutty friend or whatever she was. Also I don’t know who killed her. Anyway I waited for the girl to leave picked her chest for the diary. The funny thing is this is the abreviated version of the story. There was really more to it then that.

I haven't played too too much yet but have like 6 hours in the game. I'm currently level 10 and just wandering around doing random missions and killing things. I extremely dislike lock picking in this game. While in morrowind, it was too easy to pick locks, in Olivion they make it too much of a hassle.

I love how dificult they've made battles though.

It's all in how you do it, also (not to sound patronizing though), are you sure you haven't leveled up but forgot to sleep? Most of my time is spent exploring, since I'll never do quick travel. While from point A to point B is take many detours in order to explore caves, forts, ruins, and other such things. Also, not so much a spoiler since it's early in the game but the mission in kvatch is ****ing hard as hell... and I was 8 when I went in.

I might start my charater completely over though. A nightblade just doesn't cut it. If I were to restart, I'd either go extreme caster, or extreme warrior. The middle ground doesn't work as well in this.

I’m just playing the game completely different then you are. The first thing I did after I escaped jail was go back to the city and try to find work or money there. I don’t want to venture out on foot with all of those wild animals and monsters. So I have done a couple missions in the city and just turned level 2 after 7 hours. I spent a lot of time just looking for a place to rest and replenish magic, I also spent a lot of time brewing potion from stuff I gathered in under the jail. I’m trying to do the easy missions first and beat the game without dieing. My character has never left Imperial city. Once I have an ally some money and a horse I will leave the city.

Ah, that's cool. One thing for sure, it's tough as ****. I logged a **** ton of hours yesterday during the day before I went out. I'm not sure the dificulty setting you have it at, I'm at medium or whatever it starts at. My roomate cracked my copy and is playing but has it on easy, it's 10x easier.

I love spending time in cities as well but mostly I explore, and while out exploring I level up and also can find missions, work on alchemy and all of my ohter skills, etc... it's essential with how ****ing hard the game is so far. What is your character? I'm a redguard/NightBlade.

I'm currently level 37... I'm a ****ing beast and have closed 12 oblivion gates. I'm not sure how much of the main story I have left but I'm currently waiting to receive some special armor that I have to wait 2 weeks to get.... that's as vague as I'll be to not ruin any plot.

I have 101% damage reflection at all times so only bows can hurt me but any other damage via' a weapon can not hurt me unless it's enchanted damage. I also have a 50% magic resistence and a 35% spell reflection at all time. I am a beast.

Cool.. I may focus on the Mages Guild only now

Correct me if I'm wrong. The way the game is set to get tougher as you level I hear that you wont really start to feel powerful until after level 25 or 27. Right now I have a tough time with strong melee monsters but I love fighting Willo Wisp. My character is born under the sign that absorbs magika so Willo Wisp are cake. They actually feed me like a piece of cake. Without Martin and Brother Man Trolls, Ogers, and Bears would be tough. Well Ogers are slow so I can run and shoot like Warren Moon until they get close.

Honestly, I had a big dificulty more early on than later on. Once I hit about level 20 I began to get such good equipment, as well as master my battle strategies, I really can't be touched. As you get stronger, enemies get stronger of course. There are certain peaks where things can seem tougher because you don't have the best spells/equipment for the level you're at. Now the game is pretty much ridiculously easy that I have the 101% basic damage reflect. I despise fighting Ogres at this level still, trolls aren't too bad.

Yeah, I like it much better on the 360.

My comp runs the game, but it gets frustrating considering it's really capable of running it better etc.

I bought it about a month or two back and have been playing it ever since. I made a Dark Elf Mageblade, and he's pretty powerful with enchanted strikes like burden and poison.

It's easily the greatest single player RPG of all time and that's what I think of it so far.

Making a badass playable char is the hardest thing to do. You can try a run of the mill build.....and you might end up assing yourself out early in the game.

Of course if you turn the difficulty setting down....you won't have any problems, but that's gay.

If you're making an ultra balanced guy like a spellsword.....you might have trouble with melee attackers untill you level up enough to use higher spells.....but if you make a custom class Orc....he's like an unstoppable tank.

Orc Raider build

Race-Orc
Sex-Male
Sign-Hunter (+10 Strength +10 Endurance)

Major Skills:
Heavy Armor
Block
Blunt
Security
Armorer
Athletics
Acrobatics

The athletics and acrobatics make up for not being born under the steed sign.....obviously the next viable option next to lord when not considering the hunter.

Security to help pick locks, unless you find the skeleton key. However....making it a class skill helps you level up.

Everything else is self explainatory.

Most Attribute points go to Strength, Endurance, Speed and Luck (Taking damage, Dealing Damage, Running Fast, Finding Treasure)

A friend of mine who has been playing the game for the last 3 months came over last night and help me build my character, he said I have the perfect character to start out the game...25's on everything except things that I will be doing a lot of like fighting..etc, those are low but will come up in time. The game is massive with so much to do, I haven't even left the city yet and I already have 4 quests.

If you run into a wall, you should make that Orc build.

That's probably the most simple tank, unless you were to exchange the security skill with Hand to Hand. I have never seen a reason to fight with bare fists in the game......because you should always have backup weapons because they degrade.

If you were to make an extreme magic character:

Wizard

Race-High Elf (more magic, but succeptable to magic)
Sex-Male
Sign-Mage (50+ magicka)

Major Skills

Alchemy
Conjuration
Destruction
Restoration
Illusion
Mysticism
Alteration

Attribute points go into Intelligence, Willpower, and Endurance

Only disadvantage is that High Elves are more succeptable to magic even though they have more magic than any other race.

That's why finding magic resistance items is key for this character.

Pure Thief

Race-Kajiit
Sex-Female (endurance bonus)
sign-thief

major skills

sneak
acrobatics
light armor
marksman
blade
security
athletics

Agility, Endurance, Speed is where the points go when you level here.

Hah, your mage blows donkey balls RWK. You're ****ing crazy. Without light armor or unarmered you're crazy... not to mention you shouldn't focus on that many types of magic since you wont be able to level then up effectively enough while leveling up to take on opponent with stronger spells.

One of the simplest builds that is ridiculously effective is an assassin. Your alchemy skill can get up high enough to help yourself and while essentailly mastering marksman and stealth you can sneak attack with your bow and repeatedly hit an enemy before he even sees you/

Against a couple of opponents but in later missions and tough situations if your character relies on casting spell after spell and then drinking numerous potions or using welkynd stones to survive then you've built the character wrong.

Your best bet to be a mage actually is to get a good soul trap spell and get a mage's staff from the mage's guild when you're at a higher level so it does 80 dmg per shot... then snag the Azura Stone and repeatedly refill it with souls for your staff to continually be using it. Obviously you should have spells and whatnot as well.

WTF!?!?!?

Everything you stated there is correct.

The bolded is not what I had in mind.....because the Wizard is not supposed to let the other off the hook.

The reason I picked High Elf....is simply because they're more powerful than other races when it comes to magic.

If you made a Breton.....you'd never encounter the bolded problem because even if they'd survive the onslaught of spells.....they have 50% spell resistance.

Point is....when you use high DPS spells and combine them with illusion....you shouldn't lose.

Even if the opponent (or like your character) has over or right on or near 100% spell deflection. It takes more than that to gaurd a high DPS attack.

I'll tell you this much about the game badblood.... Enjoy it. You can have hours and hours of fun with a **** ton of missions and side quests. If you have questions ask and most importantly... don't be afraid to explore... that's half the fun.

I should also warn you... as you level up the game's opponents level up as well so it's always moderately dificult... however, certain aspects of the game get ridiculously hard if you wait too long because of the advancement of the enemies make fighting a particular spot damn near impossible unless you use a **** ton of potions and the like.

I'm up to level 7 and I'm fairly even on everything except will power and agility they are pretty low. I have a spell conjuring spell but cant use it because my conjuring isn't high enough and I don't know how to get that up.

Stick with upgrading only useful aspects of your character. Increasing willpower if you're not using destruction magic and the like much isn't really needed. Although, obviously if you have like a +4 you should probably up that everytime until it's maxed simply because it's the most bang for your buck.

Quick way to level up is to explore the caves. Lots of guys to kill in there if your using spells, blades or blunt. If your trying to up your archery look for bandits.

This game is extremely complicated, it's explained basically nothing, all I know what to do is the main quest, and I'm stuck on that already, any advice?

1 thing that isn't the most explained thing in the game but is extremely helpful is how to use your active quest. When you go to your quest menu you can select any active quests... pick the one you want to do and then it'll place the map marker where you need to go on your compass/map... this helps throughout the game and becomes your best friend. Also, don't be too psyched about the main quest right away.

Personally I find that after you're told to go to Kvatch for it feel free to explore caves, spend time in a couple of towns perhaps and get the feel of the game further. If you just walk the cathedral to Kvatch and stop in caves, ruins, mines, etc along the way then you'll level up and whatnot.

I have so many quests to go on I don't even no where to start. I'm bouncing from one guild mission to the next and currently I have to find some guy that's invisible and I was given a simple lock spell but I cant use it because I don't have a high enough level for that specific spell.
