Where I come from (Limey country) it's a name given to old age pensioners (that's right, they only get given it when they reach 65) and it's pronounced "Ber-nud". It's an old man's name. It'd be like Muhammad Ali being called Timothy Nutspangler. Or Iron Mike Tyson being called Paisley Michael Tyson-Bartholomew.

No, in fact, it'd be like them making out their names are pronounced differently to how they patently are. Like Tyson going "My name's pronounced My-kay".

If ever I get to build my record enough and get in shape to make my ideal weight (Bernard's, funnily enough) and take on Bernard, I'll refuse to call him Ber-Nard just to wind him up. Then I'll KO him.

Old man's name. He'll be wearing brown trousers and peeing in his pants next.

So you're telling me all Americans (at least from Philly) pronounce it that way? I didn't realise it was an accent - I thought he was just trying to make his name sound posher.

Warped - if you don't like my threads then why don't you just....

God, I'm fired up lately. I reckon it's cos I've got a new bout coming up. Kate from down the road...
