although I agree, even if that happens his son Carl will just take over, and from what I've heard, he's supposed to be just like daddy. Don King did alot of good for the sport in alot of ways, but I feel that the damage he's done far outweighs any good! Parasites that dont care one damn bit about any of the fighters...just that money!

Well boxing is busienss and nobody understands that more than him. It's a cruel, cynical and an unforgiving sport both on and off the ring. Don King, love him or hate him, is the living representation of that fact.

Don King is a necessary evil. He's the best promoter out there and he get's his fighters the most money. He makes a lot of money and he may rip some fighters off, but he also gets them the best fight. What can I say. He's made it to the top from nothing.

Too true. I dont care for him, but have to admit he knows what he's doing or everybody wouldnt know his name, and he wouldnt be so "set" in the bank account...so, he's doing somethihng right..even if it's only for himself. ;)

Tracy Lee, you're talking a lot of sense.
King's manipulation of the sport is killing it.

Its a double sided sword, really. He has brought alot of 'coverage' to the sport..but not all of it was good. I remember once there was an article and he said something like "I dont see in black and white, I see in green"..to me that says it all; he doesnt care about the boxers themselves..only the money he can make off them. But, it is a business, so to a certain extent that is what he's supposed to do. I just wish that didnt involve screwing over so many boxers, and if he was at all concerned about the fighters, then he'd use his "pull" and might to get a union going for them and their families. There should be a retirement fund too. I heard that Teddy Atlas and a few others were working on something like that..but I dont know how far they come with the idea. All sports have those things, and boxing being the most dangerous sport of all should have them too.

Don King & co. are evil, yes, but I don't think they're necessary. Promoters are mere middlemen and the thing they do can be done just as effectively by the managers with the financers and the promotion firms like HBO and the like, as well as the media which can make a fight as big and as popular as it can get through effective media hype.

get rid of him only if Arum,Warren,Goosen and all the rest of the promoters go with him. Otherwise its useless. Boxing has always been corrupt, and it always will be. Don King is just the hyped up crook. The rest of them are just the same, just not as successful. Untill a commission or governing body takes over, these idiots will never leave.
