US boxing promoter Don King has challenged Kostya Tszyu to step up a weight division and take on the winner of next month's welterweight world title fight between Cory Spinks and old foe Zab Judah.

"We're ready for anybody who wants to fight out of all those guys from Kostya Tszyu, Shane Mosley and Oscar De La Hoya or whoever else wants to fight," King told a conference call with reporters to promote the Judah-Spinks February 5 bout in St Louis.

King holds the promotional rights to both Judah and Spinks.

Spinks is the current World Boxing Association, World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation champion of the 66.68kg welterweight division while Tszyu is the IBF champ in the 63.5kg junior welterweights.

A Tszyu-Spinks superfight did not become a reality despite much talk in the media from both camps last year.

Spinks and Tszyu were also linked to potential superfights with De La Hoya and Mosley, but they also did not happen.

Instead of stepping up in weight Tszyu chose to remain a junior welterweight and defend his title against Britain's Ricky Hatton in Manchester, England, in June.

Judah - who Tszyu destroyed in 2001 with a second round knockout - and Spinks both revealed desires to fight the tough Russian-born Australian later this year.

"Of course," Judah said.

"After I beat Cory Spinks I would love to fight Kostya Tszyu again."

Spinks agreed.

"Of course any boxer wants to fight the best," Spinks said.

"We wanted Oscar. We were willing to fight Kostya Tszyu.

"We were willing to take on Felix Trinidad, but sometimes that ain't the way the ball bounces."

If Judah wins the rematch with Spinks this could be a great rematch to see. I imagine that Zab would do most of the talking and KT can go for a big payday and try to add to his legacy by winning the welterweight title belts.

Tszyu's already beat Judah once..I dont see him having any trouble doing so again, especially after the way he handled Mitchell! As for the Spinks-Judah rematch, I think Cory will outpoint him once again (just my opinion though)

Mayweather or Spinks/Judah will do in the fall for Tszyu.

Judah is a much better fighter than Mitchell. I would favor Tszyu over Judah in a rematch and even pick him to win but I would not count out Judah. If Zab comes to box and not showboat I could see him beating Tszyu in a tough battle. I'm picking Judah to beat Spinks but convincingly this time. Thought he won the first time but not convincing enough.

....I can't stand Judah, but I predict he knocks Spinks out this time. I thought he let him off the hook in the first fight by not pressing the action when he had him hurt.

As good as either of those 2 fights sound, I'd rather see Tszyu stay at 140 and take on Harris, Mayweather, Gatti, and to a lesser extent, Hatton. All would be good fights, though I have serious doubts about any but Mayweather beating him.

Also, its tough to cut back down once you move up, so all of those good fights become much tougher for us to see. Plus, I think Tszyu is getting older and I'd like to see him have good EVEN matchups to end his career so he can either go out on top or lose to a better fighter rather than getting beaten by the weight differential.

Tszyu beats Harris, Gatti, Hatton, Judah, and Spinks. The only one that will have a chance at beating him is Mayweather.

I would rather see Zoo clean up the junior welterweight division. Fights with either Spinks or Judah do not interest me in the least. Lets see Zoo vs. PBF.

The only problem once again is the TV networks, whereas with Spinks and Judah there is no conflict.

PBF says he wants to go to welter anyway so what's the problem with KT fighting for the welter titles (which would be his last contracted fight with showtime) and then fight PBF at welter. If not he then has the choice of DLH.

Indeed. It's the only fight that really matters right now in the Junior Welterweight/Welterweight division. This fight has legendary status written all over it.

Mayweather/Tszyu has got to happen. I dont care if Floyd fights Oscar, Oscar will handle Floyd.

I respectfully disagree with you I think PBF will put a boxing lesson on Oscar. Pretty Boy Floyd is something special.

We're all entitled to our opinions, but Oscar is too strong and too big. He also has a good chin and we have seen that Floyd's power at 140 (he would need to go to at least 147 for Oscar) is not what it was at 130. He has a shot to beat Oscar, but I doubt it.

He didn't just catch Judah, he was trying to find a range in the first round and was stalking Judah during the second until he finally got him. I wouldn't say that Judah will break KT but I think Judah would take the rematch a lot more seriously and that would make this fight really great.

Mike Tyson never was either. Sometimes that's all you have to do to win a fight. Can he do it again? Who knows, I think he can.

Judahs weak chin and lack of discipline are his weakest skills and will always let him down, i think a re-match with zoo would be more competative but still only go a handful of rounds with zoo koing him again

I was having doubts about the seating at a football stadium but now its confirmed at M.E.N i'll be on the phone on 3rd Feb without doubt!! I'm glad its a 2am start too.

Is the Witter fight on BBC or Sky? i hope he's on one of them, then we can see if your not as dumb as i thought!! :p

i'm assuming it's on ze beeb, his last few fights have been, but you never know, to tell you the truth i'll be surprised if he loses to branco, i think it's a question of how good he looks against him, i'm hoping for a stoppage 7 or less and that will impress me. If he squeaks a decision out then that will be quite telling of his world class hopes, how do you think he'll do and will you give him any big ups if he beats branco

I'll give him more respect when i see him step in the ring with Branco!! Branco isnt anywhere near world class but he's a lot better than anyone Witters beat, i still think Branco will get KO'd because he's a weak puncher.

IMO its the first step up for Witter since the Judah fight, if he passes it(which should be easy enough) he needs to fight someone who can punch abit.

certainly, oh **** we agree, after he's disposed of branco he should go in with a dangerman to basically prove it to the world that when he does get caught again he won't go into his shell like in the judah match, but for me that still takes some doing taking judah 12 at 9 days notice.
But yes a may, june match against a puncher will do nicely, Harris would be ideal

I wasnt thinking someone on Harris's level yet, i was thinking of someone like Kelson Pinto, Vince Phillips or Lovemore Ndou before Harris.

The main problem i have with Witter in terms of boxing ability is that he's had things way too easy!! The opponents are terrible and rumours from his gym suggest even the sparring partner are terrible. I have a feeling all that ego will go when he gets hit by a big puncher, i think Witter can punch but his strength looks bad and i think someone at a higher level could bully him.

I think Witter could do things at world level because he's got skills but i wont hold my breath on him trying never mind doing it. Really there's no real reason why he's not the one fighting Tszyu, its Witter own fault he's miss out by stalking Hatton for so long.

I hate Witter but for some stupid reason i want him to do well. until he fights Hatton or Tszyu, then i want him to get a beating.
