View Full Version : The Fight Everyone Wants: Barrera-Pacquiao 2
BIGPOPPAPUMP 03-16-2006, 02:36 AM WBC President Jose Sulaiman announced this week that Manny Pacquiao has been given one week to accept a fight with Marco Antonio Barrera or forfeit his shot at Barrera, at least for the time being. This comes at the same time as the start of Team Pacquiao’s initial negotiations with Oscar Larios for a possible June 25 bout. [details (http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=3413)]
yrrej 03-16-2006, 06:56 AM Barrera's Mexican backers are trying to squeeze a few more bucks out of him at the end of his career, and he is too stupid to do anything about it, like retire....

i don't see anything interesting in this fight, their first fight was one sided, no controversy, and barrera got annihilated...outclassed, etc, etc,,,,so how is it a fight everyone wants?...
in normal circumstances, a fighter who gets his ass beaten that bad, would never get backing for a rematch, and it's not as if barrera wants this fight....because the outcome will be very similar to the first fight....
SuckaPunch 03-16-2006, 10:09 AM LOL, as if Pac cares about the WBC. Pac has already made a promise that he will fight in front of his people, and he's not about to break that promise.
Now, if Morales decides NOT to fight Manny in September, then Pac-Barrera 2 will happen, but I doubt it will turn that way. Bob Arum will never let Pac-Barrera II happen(before Morales-Pac III) since he hates GBP so much.
Morales will have to fight Pacquiao in September whether he likes it or not, it's Bob Arum who controls the show.
Sttuddahboy619 03-16-2006, 10:30 AM I'm pretty sure there alot of people who do feel that they want to see that fight.I'm one of them!
SLIMZ 03-16-2006, 10:40 AM barrera should wait after the tune ups of manny. summer 2007 is still not far away.

Exactly my point. Because unlike Barrera, PAC is a man of his word. Even now PAC is still trying to salvage whatever he can for the tune-up fight just so that he could fulfill his obligations. That's character for you. Something MAB never has.
MAB should learn to wait in line here. PAC doesn't give a **** about belts. He goes for the top fighters first and foremost. Damn the belts. MAB should wait his line.

Exactly!!
That fight wasn't even close, it was a one-sided beatdown.
Floyd vs Hatoon is the real fight that everyone wants to see.
ELPacman 03-16-2006, 01:22 PM You guys are ignorant if you think there shouldn't be a rematch. Barrera had plenty of LEGIT excuses going into the fight just as Manny did after losing to Morales. Barrera has proven himself since then by beating Morales, Ayala, and 2 clowns, Fana, and Peden. There is no way you can say it will be another 1 sided fight when Barrera is a master boxer that you can never count out. While it may have the same outcome, Barrera definitely has a chance by slowing Manny's pace using some effective footwork and jab. By no means will it be 1 sided again. Barrera also knows this is hit last shot at Manny and proving to the world it was just a bad night. You also have to hope Manny comes not over confident that he already beat Barrera and in such 1 sided fashion. He has to prepare for him as if it was the first fight. I would love to see this fight and frankly, this is the last fight I wanna see Manny take to be happy with his career. Prove it wasn't a fluke, simple as that.

Gee, I wonder why then will Pac - Mab II be the richest fight in history below lightweight.

MAB doing a Pac (in ref to Pac-EM 2) on Pac is highly doubtful. First off, Pac's loss to EM was close and the fight was competitive. Can you honestly say that for Pac-MAB? I don't think so. I'm not discounting MAB but its going to be a one helluva task for him to win his tormentor, and the odds is stacked high up against him!
