in the past few years, wlad has gotten slightly better while byrd has gotten obviously worse. byrd has done nothing to show that this time around will be any different than last time.

As of now I'm still picking Wlad by a decision; but I will not be surprised if Byrd has a better showing than most think....and while highly unlikely, an upset is not out of the question. Much water has flowed under the bridge since the last time these two met.

I really can't see Byrd getting anything from this fight. It's a perfect style match-up for Wlad even if they hadn't fought before....And they have....and Wlad won comfortably

The Scientist

Byrd will probably dance around like a balerina boring everyone to death, even worse than his match against D. Williams. Eventually breaking Wlad's glass jaw with a jab. Byrd by K.O.

When IBF heavyweight title holder Chris Byrd said of his defense against Wladimir Klitschko that a victory "would mean i'm the man, i truly belong," did byrd get confused and think he was squaring off with vitali klitschko?

this is crazy, but since their last fight Wlad has shown that he doesn't take a punch very well. ANd Bryd knows that he can't out box Wlad so his only chance is to put alot of pressure on wlad use his speed, and go for the ko. I think Bryd will surprise everyone and KO wlad early.

A victory over Wlad would be impressive indeed, but I just don't think he can pull it off. He's slowed down, and Wlad had a pretty easy time hitting him last time.

I think Klitscko by UD. Byrd has looked pretty iffy in his last few fights but i think he has it in him to survive 12 rounds. It really depends what stratagy Steward adopts for Klitscko. If Klit boxes more and not wanting to risk anything then Byrd can survive. But if Wlad goes for the KO then he may accomplish it late in the fight.

I'll bet you run out of ammunition when Wladimir Klitschko walks through fighters for the title...and obliterates the pretenders who were lucky to have beaten him in the past via sabotage.

It doesn't matter what he does.

He could beat Byrd, then rematch and beat Brewster, then completely obliterate Valuev in 7 rounds, and then beat Ruiz, Toney, and Rahman and people would still find something to discredit him for.

Lennox Lewis went through that...when everyone completely kept disrespecting him as a fighter because of his "glass chin".

Lewis said himself...Wlad will be there in the long run because of his subperb boxing skills. I'd have to agree with him.

Lennox Lewis, George Foreman, Rick Reeno, Emmanuel Steward, and plenty others see eye to eye like many on this forum do.

His last fight with Peter was like a cure...because he overcame adversity and finished the fight strong after tasting big problems.

Wlad took care of him when wlad was nothing more than a powerful puncher. Now that he's got stamina too, and the fact that byrd can't hit worth ****, I'm betting chris will be embedded into the canvas somewhere around the 4th

if wlad wins this by late stoppage or UD, then he will have added a key part that was missing in his entourage, patience combined with stamina.
he's learned about countering powerful rampages when he fought Peter.
he might not be able to learn about strengthening his jaw, but if he can get to a point where the only punches he eats are jabs AND he doesn't out-punch himself, lasting all rounds, then he should be great in this lacking division...

i feel that byrd has enough in the tank to make the fight exciting if its called for. I think that his mental preparation will determine who is going to win. If byrd comes to lay down some leather rather than try to look pretty and win rounds he will be successful especially if he can make w klitschko miss early.

Byrd wins in a respectable heavy weight bout by way of SD or late round stoppage. :boxing: :boxing:

....I have a funny feeling that Byrd is going to go down swinging while hoping for the best. I think he may very well attack Wlad and be more agressive than we have ever seen him before. He has nothing to lose really as he is pretty much cashing out his chips with a big payday. If he somehow manages to land something meaningful on Wlad while employing a style he has never gone to before then it could get interesting. Using that particular style is Byrd's best chance IMO and it's also what will get him knocked out quickly if he doesn't get lucky with a couple of bombs. I am predicting better than expected action and some good toe to toe moments.

lol,,,what makes you think this after wlad totally dominated him when byrd was in his prime? the only way I can see byrd winning is if wlad goes nuts throwing shots and totally expends himself as he did against brewster. byrd barely has enough pop to pop a zit so I dont think he hurts wlad unless wlad gasses

Anyone know what this means? I tried translating it on the site Babel Fish, but the translation wasnt very clear. This is what it translated to:

During the going yesterday Sparing conference in training camps on Mallorka, one mailed the savings ring partner of Vladimir Klichko into the Knockout, consequently the fight, that on 22 April of this year is planned to be shifted on the indefinite date.
