....Iran is developing nuclear capabilities and is a known terrorist sponsor state. They have said on many occasions that their long term goal is the inhialation of Israel. The way I think it will play out is that your going to see the U.S. take the gloves off of Israel and let them deal with the nuclear threat. You will see a surprise strike by Israel on Iran's Nuclear site and then if it excalates then the U.S. will get involved. I have a feeling that Israel is going to take the heat for us on this one. On the other hand, I have a civilian friend who works closely with the upper command of the military and she tells me that us striking Iran is a foregone conclusion. We shall see.

.....The difference is that Iran admits to having Nuclear aspirations and a program in the works. The entire world knows for a fact that they are developing the capabilities. Iran has a deal with the joke known as the EU that is falling apart. If they can't come to an agreement with Europe on halting their nuclear aspirations then either us or Israel will take matters into our own hands.

I wish he would concentrate on the problems in the USA, not try to solve everybody else's problems. He is throwing all of the tax dollars to other counties and closing down Fire departments, police departments, schools, heath care facilities etc.... in the USA and opening them up in foreign counties. Somebody has their priorities messed up....

In the late 90s Iranians elected a reformist parliament and a reformist president. New newspapers were being started up all over the country. The movement was limited by the powers of the Muslim clerics (who can veto any new laws) but popular support for the reformers meant that they could get away with quite a bit.

If the U.S. had provided more support for this popular movement there could have been genuine democartic reforms in Iran. Instead, it disregarded these reformers and kept on trying to overthrow the entire government through the CIA and covert strikes. When Bush came to the power the situation got even worse. Eventually the reformers lost their momentum and the clerics regained their hold over the country. That's when the nuclear problems started up.

If people would have paid attention at the right time than none of this would be happening.

It won't be poltical suicide for Bush because the election is behind him, it may be suicide for republican senators and congressman whoose terms are up in two years though...

If we invade Iran without accomplishing dick in Iraq then it will be more like legacy suicide instead of political suicide.

You can't invade a country and bring them your version of democracy when their definition is completely different.

One thing most people don't understand is that this IS the USA's problem. Nuclear weapons in the hands of a well known terrorist state is a direct threat to the United States.
