View Full Version : Who Is Better Lyrically, AZ Or Nas? Truth 03-12-2006, 01:14 PM This ones for the real hip hop heads. Remember were talking lyrics... sisforshaq 03-12-2006, 02:06 PM Nas. AZ is dope but Nas is on another level. Truth 03-12-2006, 02:18 PM My friends who knows the whole history of rap(he almost knows too much, he pisses me off sometimes)says that AZ just didn't get the promotion and attention that Nas did. He said they are almost equal lyrically. I'm not sure, but I agree with you sis, I would lean towards Nasty Nas. MetalVomit 03-12-2006, 03:06 PM I cannot decide, both are off the ****in wall on the mic. I'll say draw. Nas has had a more decorated career, and AZ tears mics down. I'll stick with "draw". borikua 03-12-2006, 03:25 PM Naz by far... PALM_BEACH_CREW 03-12-2006, 03:36 PM I'm going with Nas, just 'cause of Illmatic. The Fix 03-12-2006, 03:46 PM im going with nas, album for album he is head and shoulders above az.... mic573 03-12-2006, 04:02 PM I prefer AZ over Nas but I say they are even in terms of lyrical ability. TheHoff! 03-12-2006, 06:38 PM In an interview he gave last year AZ admitted that Nas was lyrically superior to himself and said anyone who thought otherwise was a retarded antelope who drinks urine from urinals and goes around wearing a spiderman outfit while muttering about conspiracy theories relating to man landing on the moon, JFK, MLK and Malcolm X being assasinated, George Bush using a remote control to fly the planes into the twin towers and Condoleeza Rice using a remote control to operate George Bush. Because of this and also the album that is named Illmatic I shall cast my vote for Nas. LatinG187 03-12-2006, 11:31 PM Gotta go with nasty Nas on this one.AZ's no pushover himself tho. Allen_Poe 03-12-2006, 11:38 PM Nas by far BLOODSHED 03-13-2006, 12:15 AM Both need charisma and personality. But Nas is much better. More poignant lyrics. Both need good production too, to be hearable. Truth 03-13-2006, 12:21 AM Both need charisma and personality. But Nas is much better. More poignant lyrics. Both need good production too, to be hearable. I disagree with that last statement. Both guys are strong lyricists. Guys like Juelz and Cam need production to be hearable. ;) The Fix 03-13-2006, 03:46 AM Both need charisma and personality. But Nas is much better. More poignant lyrics. Both need good production too, to be hearable. huh? both have had a history of great production. the traveler 03-13-2006, 12:13 PM People just say that Nas and Az have weak production because they don't have those overly produced club beats. Their type of instrumentals aren't club bangers but they're definetly aesthetic. Peep Az's "Just give me, give me what you can't get back" As far as who the better lyricist is, I have to go with Nas. Az drops deep lyrics at times, but most of the time his subject matter is really constricted where as Nas comes with a different array of topics. Also, Az isn't as versatile of a songwritter as Nas. Nas can write good club songs, love songs, and street tracks; on the other hand, Az cannot do all types of songs with as much success as Nas. RAESAAD 03-13-2006, 12:17 PM Nas. AZ is dope but Nas is on another level. I agree with this. BLOODSHED 03-13-2006, 12:23 PM And you'd be the person to talk to about good word choice and lyrics... :bottle: I agree with this. RAESAAD 03-13-2006, 12:25 PM And you'd be the person to talk to about good word choice and lyrics... :bottle: Flaming Dr.pecker..... oldgringo 03-13-2006, 02:45 PM AZ and Nas don't get good production? Primo, Large Prof, LES, Pete Rock, Alchemist, Salaam Remi, Track Masters, Buckwild, etc etc etc.... You know my stance on this. Nas has the success...and he deserves it because he's one of the best ever. Strictly on a lyrical level, AZ is on planet X with every great emcee to ever do it. Dude's delivery, wordplay, content, etc are all ridiculous. He can salvage an otherwise average song with a verse because he's just that damn good. I've always maintained that Nas got the spotlight, but AZ has been just as good if not better every step of the way with him. oldgringo 03-13-2006, 02:51 PM People just say that Nas and Az have weak production because they don't have those overly produced club beats. I think you hit the key in there...AZ can't do it with as much "success". I think he's every bit as good a songwriter...and a lot of the **** he's writing about comes from his life or otherwise. Nas just hits the emotional tip more often. "Everything is everything" is a certified club banger...better than any club song Nas has put out in fact. As for putting out street music, AZ basically had his hands all in the street-wise, braggadoccio content that you hear today. He, the Wu-Tang Clan, Kool G Rap...all helped bring the crime drama content to the streets. Kool G Rap being the pioneer. 75th 03-13-2006, 04:16 PM Flaming Dr.pecker..... Seriously though, no wonder dude gets his ass kicked by his frat brothers. BTW while I like both, I've got to take Nas here just because of Illmatic. |
