View Full Version : Mayorga is Back (in case you haven't heard)
slavik18 01-25-2005, 06:09 PM Didn't look around, but to all mayorga fans: he's back.
April 2nd vs Travis Simms..
Predictions?
Personally I hope he comes back with a vengeance.
MlLkMan 01-25-2005, 06:39 PM Mayorga by KO
Floydmayweather 01-25-2005, 07:01 PM Mayorga by mid round ko.
mic573 01-25-2005, 07:12 PM I thought he was trying to fight Santos but anyway I wouldn't be so quick to say that Mayorga would knock Simms out. Remember his power wasn't much of a factor when he fought at 154. He needs to go back down to welterweight.
slavik18 01-25-2005, 07:14 PM I don't Simms doesn't seem at his level. Although I do think he should go back to welterweight.

Mayorga was originally supposed to fight Jose Antonio Rivera, but failed to make weight, so he fought at 155, before the Trinidad fight.

Simms and Mayorga are just about on the same level in my opinion. Maybe Mayorga's a few steps ahead of him but I could see Simms beating him.
tarvis is the better one right???
he shud go back to welter he'll be much better
especially with mayweather goign to move up
and kosta
and judah and spinks
and mosely
and DLH
no travis is the better one
ok but mayorga shud be at welterweight
even in this fight... mayorga by ko
Mike Tyson SR. 01-25-2005, 08:01 PM Is this simms guy any good?
adeelr 01-25-2005, 08:03 PM yea Mayorga should comeback, he is an exciting thing to watch i hope things turn out to be good for him, he should fight trinidad again..he will lose again but it will still be a good thing for him.
Hurlex 01-25-2005, 08:54 PM haha..why em i the only one that thinks simms might be dangerous...awww screw it..mayorga wont dissapoint and will give us a great ko that night...i say mayorga goes and beats the sh*t out of santos..and would like to see him vs winky also...but most of all my dream is margarito vs mayorga
whdempsey 01-25-2005, 09:58 PM Mayorga hasn't got the class necessary to beat the bigger, more polished Simms. Still, his aggressive, physical style will push Simms to his limit. But not beyond.
bonafuwa 01-25-2005, 10:49 PM Weird, but I think Simms might pull off the upset. Mayorga didn't do so well against Rivera, then was absolutely drilled by Trinidad. I think he's on the downslide now - the ride is over people!

I hope you meant to type Mitchell. The Rivera fight didn't come off.
SonnyJ 01-25-2005, 11:07 PM mayorga has tremendous power at welter and junior middle. he'll be a contender for a long time to come.
SweetScience 01-25-2005, 11:40 PM Weird, but I think Simms might pull off the upset.
I agree, southpaws give Mayo hell.
hahahah..i dont think u guys seen simms fight....mayorga is makeing a big mistake...simms beat the **** out of bronco mckart in his last fight...simms will either ko mayorga or out point him
MikeHunt 01-26-2005, 02:41 AM Is a rape conviction in Puerto Rico a weekend? Last I heard he was going to the pokey for a long time.............guess not.
I think he should fight F Vargas so could know once and for all who is the biggest punk.
kadyo 01-26-2005, 03:25 AM Is this simms guy any good?

Bryght 01-26-2005, 10:44 AM Ricardo Mayorga is a classless scumbag and a dirty fighter, so obviously the fair-weather fans love him. But, regardless...he's a pimple on the ass of the sport who just happens to sell tickets. There's absolutely nothing special about him other than his penchant for whining after losses.
As far as boxing goes, he got a lucky KO against Vernon Forrest and then got a fortunate decision in the rematch. His 12-round embarassment against the far superior Cory Spinks was epic, and his ill-advised middleweight tryout vesus the powerful Tito Trinidad ended up to be Mayorga's biggest disaster. He's fed upon easy opponents for the majority of his career and now continues to cash in on the Forrest victories. One has to wonder, how long will that last? How long will people give him credit where credit isn't due? When will people wake the hell up and realize that "El Matador", though fearless, is just another wide-swinging idiot who digs more holes in his game than a gravedigger in Iraq?
He's a warrior, but a fighter with any skill can out-box him without much trouble. He's nothing special. I hope Simms makes him look like Trinidad made him look - bloody, confused and utlimately...a loser.
Let's get rid of this Mayorga guy and get back to boxing.
no doubt, if simms doesn't get spooked during the press blitz like vernon did, i see simms easily wiping the floor w/ mayo. tito exposed that mayo, for as hyped as he was, is not a world beater. simms is a VERY polished champion and i honestly think that mayo will not be KO'ing anyone that night, i'll bet anyone on this, BUT hes still a cash cow and simms might get robbed on a bad decision.
simms wins, but loses.
Floydmayweather 01-26-2005, 11:19 AM At 147 Mayorga is a threat to everyone. His chin will hold against any thing and he has power. He is a punk but after see him take a whipping against Tito and just keep comin he got my respect. If only he could work on his boxing skills.

lets throw him in with vargas
Mr. Ryan 01-26-2005, 01:19 PM I thought Simms was lucky to KO Alex Garcia, but his workmanlike performance against Bronco McKart makes me think he is a pretty good fighter. He's got boxing skills, is a southpaw, and has power. I think he'll beat Mayorga. Mayorga is done.
Nodogoshi 01-26-2005, 02:50 PM This looks to be a good fight, Simms isnt a bad fighter really. I hope Mayorga kicks his ass though. I just love his style of flailing punches from all angles and knocking fools out when he hits em. I haven't seen any other guys that fight like him. Mayorga-Forrest 1 is still one of my favorites because HBO was trying to build Forrest up and bam, KO'd by some Nicaruagen guy I'd never heard of.
joeboxer 01-26-2005, 03:14 PM A little off topic but does anyone really think Mayorga smokes a pack a day, he sure didn't look like it when he fought Spinks or Trinidad?
did u c NOT against trinidad, plz tell me u meant against forrest
against trinidad he was dead after round 3.
he probly doesn't do as much during training

Tough guy, but very very limeted. He wont make any real noise and will lose to all the top guys.
bigdlb12 01-26-2005, 04:32 PM It would be nice if he trained correctly and got his head out of his ass, he can take a punch and can KO also.
Duncan 01-26-2005, 05:43 PM Is a rape conviction in Puerto Rico a weekend? Last I heard he was going to the pokey for a long time.............guess not.
I think he should fight F Vargas so could know once and for all who is the biggest punk.
I believe Mayorga would absolutely steam-roll Fernando Vargas. But it would be brutal beauty. I also believe that the Simms brothers are grossly overrated (both of them) and Mayorga will easily handle either.

Mayorga will take Simms out. either of them
grayfist 01-26-2005, 10:13 PM I've always thought Mayorga will be back. The lure of the ring would be too much for him.
Taking on Sims--- the one that took on Bronco---would make for an interesting fight. :)
mayorga can knock out any1, if he lands that clean shot
mic573 01-26-2005, 10:51 PM mayorga can knock out any1, if he lands that clean shot
Mayorga landed clean shots on Tito, Spinks and Forrest in the rematch and didn't knock them out.
slavik18 01-27-2005, 04:48 PM Mayorga isn't going anywhere..... He's young there is no reason he can't win more fights. Plus you said there is nothing special about him. Except the fact that every fight with him is pure entertainment. You gotta love the stick out the chin "HIT ME *****!". You said lucky win against Forrest....??? Did you honestly see that fight, forrest was running around the ring like a little ***** once he realized that Mayorga can take his power. Well, anyway I guess he got lucky TWICE in your opinion.
jreng1 01-28-2005, 09:47 AM is this Simms fight really made? I havent heard anything bout it. If so its nice to see Mayorga back in the ring.
pinkpanther 01-28-2005, 11:22 AM Mayorga will drill him, Simms is technically quite a good fighter and at times can be slick, however Mayorga will be all over him like white on rice and Simms just won't be able to keep him off, bottom line Simms is getting KO'd.
Kid Achilles 01-28-2005, 06:02 PM Good to see him back. Mayorga is one of my favorite contemporary fighters.
Bryght 01-30-2005, 12:48 PM A little off topic but does anyone really think Mayorga smokes a pack a day, he sure didn't look like it when he fought Spinks or Trinidad?
I've watched the Trinidad-Mayorga fight several times and Mayorga was exhausted by the fourth round. Even the ringside commentators noticed it.
TheRealDunnagan 01-30-2005, 12:49 PM I always liked Mayorga but questioned his ring intelligence in the Tito fight when he dropped his hands and did a chicken dance
jayrichardse 01-31-2005, 12:26 AM man **** myorga
slavik18 01-31-2005, 06:07 PM This "sentence" pretty much sums up your level of intelligence.
+= El Jefe=+ 01-31-2005, 06:27 PM I dont like mayorga's style,
or his habits.
but that ***** can figth
QueenCity 01-31-2005, 06:41 PM I'm glad Mayorga decided not to retire, he's got great heart and has one of the most unorthodox stlyes around. Sure he's not the greatest boxer around but he makes for fun fights.
Arrington 01-31-2005, 06:50 PM I can't wait for the tickets to go on sale to see Mayorga back in action.
dafrza3 02-02-2005, 02:02 PM My question is how the hell does mayorga retire and come back and fight b4 Tito fights?
slavik18 02-09-2005, 08:04 PM Sorry, wrong info just checked boxrec and Mayorga is fighting Javier Castillejo. He's 58-5. This is for WBC Light Middle-weight title. Any inof on Javier? Predictions. Also its April 16th.
