View Full Version : What's your take on JMM in the aftermath of the Pac fight?
BLOODSHED 03-11-2006, 12:54 AM Personally, I think he ran from Pacquiao. He should have never had a draw in the first place. And most times, people usually give an IMMEDIATE rematch in draws and highly disputed scorings in a fight.
But he let money(supposedly) get in the way of a rematch that both sides of fans demanded.
I really can't have too much respect for that. Many people thought that Mayweather lost to Castillo (I am one) and Floyd rematched Castillo so people wouldn't say he's ducking him.
I have zero tolerance for what JMM did and was glad he was beaten by a no name in a bout where he made a dismal $35,000. Karma is a *****. Now, I'm not sure Pacquiao will even make a rematch.
Definately, a lose-lose situation for JMM, because he's not going to get another big pay day because of this terrible career choice in not rematch Pacquiao.
Famoso Matador 03-11-2006, 01:02 AM I dont know, but that fight should have happened. I feel bad for Marquez, he was once considered the best featherweight in the world, and now he has got to start all over again. I didnt like that he was stripped of his titles, but chris john proved he deserved it.
BLOODSHED 03-11-2006, 01:04 AM He should have rematched Pacquiao. 99% of rematches are closer than the first fight. If he could pull a draw after what happened the first time, who knows what could have happened if the second fight was closer.

Chups 03-11-2006, 01:10 AM Only JMM know why he opted not to have the rematch...he either must have felt that Pac was too strong or he thought he might not make it the next time. I for one thought he might have won the rematch if he had agreed. He had the style to beat Manny. But then again I thought the same thing for Morales too when he was about to do it again with Pacquiao. Only Marquez knows what he knows.
multiply 03-11-2006, 01:37 AM I told y'all, but unfortunately this world is full of the stupid and nuthuggin' types. JMM did not and don't want none of PACGOD.
JMM can have all the rounds in that fight he had w/ PAC. One thing PAC took in that fight is more vital...
He took Juan's soul!
xcaret 03-11-2006, 01:41 AM omg let the fight go, it was a damn draw, let it go...
LIG!!!!!!!!!
Chups 03-11-2006, 01:45 AM :D :D .........................
BLOODSHED 03-11-2006, 01:54 AM The fact that you're calling it a draw and telling people to "let it go", indicates that you yourself thought it was a highway robbery and were happy "your boy" eeked out a draw.

JOM'S 03-11-2006, 02:14 AM although JMM was a tactical genius inside the ring, on the negotiation table he/they were not ...
i now believe that JMM left something more in the ring when he fought PACMAN, he was not truly the same after ...
too bad for JMM he could have been the guy who beat PAC on March 2005, but good for us boxing fans we were rewarded with 2 epcis PAC-EM 1 & 2...

i agree w/ you....
SuckaPunch 03-11-2006, 08:50 AM The rematch would've been in February 2005 and I think Marquez would've won because Pac hasn't really worked on his right hand back then.
Pac may have just gotten a draw with Marquez but he totally destroyed him MENTALLY. Marquez was never the same after that fight, he never had the same confidence in him.
grayfist 03-11-2006, 11:34 AM Maybe it's not Marquez... May be Chris John is really that good. I haven't seen John fight, but I find myself wishing I know more about him. He may very well be the best Feather around at this time.
SLIMZ 03-11-2006, 11:36 AM marquez still has something good to offer. too bad the rematch w/ pac doesn't materialize. i remeber his last fight w/ salido, he still packs some phenomenal counterpunches. this is his lethal arsenal, its a good thing to watch pac and jmm battles again.
GunStar 03-11-2006, 11:38 AM Will no one really knows for sure what happened. I think only JMM & his people can really answer to what happened.

cj is good, but not the best in the division (imo). he hardly fought outside indonesia (only 1 i think in australia). no one hardly know him before the jmm-cj fight.
BLOODSHED 03-11-2006, 12:25 PM "Tactical genius inside the ring?" Did you see the first round? NO DEFENSE.

I was just thinking that John may be-- and that's really a may-- another undiscovered gem. Somewhat in the manner that Pac was prior to Ledwaba and MAB.
He should find ways to expose his talents in the big sites. That way many will be afforded the chance to see him for the first time, including me.:)
