A boxer will never get respect from everyone. There always is a hater. I think boxers get more respect when thir time has past and they become legends but no current boxer gets everyone's respect.

Larry Holmes asked the very same question when he was the reigning champion.

awesome dedication to boxing. as the fighter become a champion he will fight champions and top contenders and no tune-up fights or whatsoever.. dedicated to sacrifice his time to train for battle. every battle is for the championship.never duck any fighters.

have multiple titles in diff. division (if not HW).

I had never really been high on Hatton and Calzaghe before their fights with Tszyu/Lacy respectively.

Both guys took the fight to their favored opponents and beat them handily...making sure their was no doubt as to who was the better man.

I was a big Pacquiao fan before the Morales bouts, but he gained even more respect from me after his performance in the 2nd fight.

Performances like those deserve respect.

I concur. I always see excuses for someones fighter loosing. If not an excuse, just plain ol being a sore looser and not acknowledging the fact that the other man was better. I was all out for Lacy winning and never though Calzaghe could have ever been as good as he was. It was hard to accept but people have to realize that Calzaghe is not a fluke and Lacy was not a bum. I use this as an example because the haters have come out for this latest of upsets. Calzghe fans should be rightfully rejoicing. Another one was Marquez' loss to CJ. People just can't accept it.

I agree...

When it comes to respect, respect comes in different forms...
1) Respect within the sport - that is, amongst promotors and fighters who have a different kind of respect... they will respect the strengths of the fighter, so for example the speed of Mayweather. They will also respect their career and their titles, despite how much trash talking they do. I think there is more respect within the sport (between the fighters themselves mainly) than outside of it, but for slightly different reasons.

2) Respect from the fans - Not ducking, exciting, title holder, humble, P4P - different weight class belts, fighting the hardest out there.

So yeah, respect comes in different forms. :boxing:

I myself have been converted into respecting a particular fighter and vice versa. Corrales is on fighter I never really cared for but has shown to be too much of a warrior for me to deny. I will always watch a Corrales fight.
I will always respect any fighter but some have lost my support. I was really high on PBF as a lightweight but isnt really showing any willingness to meet his match at the jr. and welterweight divisions. Castillo just wasn't right in his last fight with Corrales in comming in to big. Doesnt matter though there will always be haters regardless.

I think Joe is respect enough. He's gotten a lot of praise and is around 9 or 10 on most people's p4p list. I also believe the Ring will put him around there in their next issue.

Lacy was not a bum. We just found out that Joe is probably an A-level fighter, while Lacy is a B-level fighter. Neither is a bum.

I'll be quite honest man. I think Lacy is an A class fighter.....Calzaghe is an A+.

For me it Mike Tyson I seen a documentary about him the Beyond Glory.

The guy does not respect women, trainer, family and even himself.

He say yah I have a gentle person in the first of the documentary and at the end he say I wanna **** you B**** til you love stuff like that.

Wierd person and e desevre what he desrve but as a boxer he got strong punchs and fast and nice style

very simple,

In order for a fighter to gain respect from the public he must expose his genetalia. The size of his penis is porportional to the respect that the public will give him.

Obviously.

Hence the lack of respect Eric Esch gets because his penis is shrouded by nine hundred pounds of pork rinds.
