Augustus has to be one of my favorite fighters. Even when he takes on guys way out of his class he still puts on a show and gets his work done, I think his great chin has a lot to do with that.

He doesn't take boxing seriously. He got a lot of talent and a great chin, but he clowns too much. Sometimes he doesn't care if he wins or loses

That guy has come out just short is so many fights I lost count. He's one tough dude and I love watching him fight. The Ward fight was frekin awesome. Almost as good as Ward Gatti I. He is the ultimate gatekeeper.

well if you look at the compubox numbers for the augustus ward fight...augustus should have won.........ward was jus the agressor but he was getting nailed with short quick punches that the judges didnt really see

i don't think we should make too much of Augustus' bad record, it's not about his lack of skills. he only fights the best, the toughest guys to beat, most pro fighters these days are punkasses who look for easy mismatches against club fighters, Augustus never wanted things easy, he wanted to develop his skills, that means you gotta take a few losses against quality guys...also he goes into other guys hometowns and schools them, so he's often the victim of hometown decisions. i feel for Augustus, i know what it's like to go to another city and mess with their boi, i'm the ugly guy that dares to go into another dude's hometown and beat the **** out of him, everybody outside the ring hates you, you can feel it. Augustus is one of my heroes. **** his record, he's a real champion who deserves a belt

I found it better than ward gatti 1 actually, because there was as much guts but more tactical adjustements, so it was beautiful in every way

I have known him for years as I have announced him into the ring many times, he is of course a Baton Rouge fighter after all. I was at his fight against Ward, and I thought he won it, of course he is a bud so I might not have the perspective of someone who doesn't know him.

I will say this though, I can't think of another fighter who has taken so many fights on 24 hours notice and went into somebody else's hometown and threw them a beating! He is famous for short notice fights, but unfortunately until these last couple of years he was never serious about boxing believe it or not. Now he is married and has a kid so he is rededicated to the sport.

He never used to eat right or workout right, and he used to party too much, but now I think he is serious, and I always have thought of him as the best fighter to never win a major belt.

Carl "Kojack" Handy is another one of my personal faves, he is a great guy, tough as nails too...

i've been a fan of burton/augustus since he fought floyd on ko nation. he just stood in front of the pretty boy and laughed at him, floyd broke both his hands in that fight.
he got robbed against courtney burton, but he also got robbed against mickey ward in espn's fight of the year for 2001.
