View Full Version : Your picks on Gatti Vs. Leija please. The Phantom Menace 01-24-2005, 03:02 PM I would like to know who you pick to win this fight. How and what round if it is by knockout the victor will win. Mr. Ryan 01-24-2005, 03:05 PM This fight is ridiculous. Gatti will TKO Leija in the 6th, Leija is too small, underpowered and bleeds. theironone 01-24-2005, 03:06 PM I would like to know who you pick to win this fight. How and what round if it is by knockout the victor will win. Gatti in 7, leija will go down a couple of times and decide enough is enough dansweeney 01-24-2005, 03:07 PM gatti is coming into the ring these days at about 155, fighting in the junior welter division, he will kayo leija in 6, maybe less marvelous_TG 01-24-2005, 03:07 PM This fight is ridiculous. Gatti will TKO Leija in the 6th, Leija is too small, underpowered and bleeds. i agree exept he will go down in the 5th  mic573 01-24-2005, 03:11 PM I guess I'll go with Leija by decision. He's the better boxer of the two plus I've been having a feeling that he will pull out the victory that will prevent Mayweather and Gatti from getting in the ring. bigdlb12 01-24-2005, 03:54 PM my mind says Gatti via KO/TKO but my heart says Leija, for his heart Gatti within 7 rounds Truth 01-24-2005, 04:02 PM Gatti 6th round knockout of Leija. Kornhusker 01-24-2005, 04:06 PM I picked Leija by UD. I put all of my whopping 225 points on it for the sake of odds. I'm pretty sure Gatti will stop him inside of five though. The Fix 01-24-2005, 04:08 PM i think it is going to be a closer fight than expected because gatti seems to fight to his opponents level. anyway i say its a war with gatti winning by 10th round TKO borikua 01-24-2005, 04:22 PM Gatti by TKO in the 9th! Tha Greatest 01-24-2005, 04:30 PM gatti by ko if it goes to the cards, gatti will win no matter what if if leija wins every round cuz they wanna see floyd-gatti thats why they gave DLH that fight against sturm guru 01-24-2005, 04:45 PM give me gatti... i can never pick leija after he quit against zoo.... jpboxer3 01-24-2005, 05:04 PM gatti by ko if it goes to the cards, gatti will win no matter what if if leija wins every round cuz they wanna see floyd-gatti thats why they gave DLH that fight against sturm Dont forget who the Promoter of Leija is ;) Heres a hint,he's Kayoed both Gatti and Leija in his Career. MetalVomit 01-24-2005, 05:17 PM I would like to know who you pick to win this fight. How and what round if it is by knockout the victor will win. Gatti by TKO inside of six. Sir_Jose 01-24-2005, 05:20 PM Leija will box circles around him and finally end the delusion that Gatti is a good fighter. Leija UD. psychopath 01-24-2005, 05:46 PM I believe tha Leija will be over powered here. So it's got to be Gatti. K.O. or decission Gatti wins. Johnny_Rocket 01-24-2005, 06:09 PM Gatti...TKO Round 7 QueenCity 01-24-2005, 06:14 PM I don't see this fight as being that a great showcase for Gatti, he will get as much as he gives. I see Gatti comming out of the gate hard looking for a knockout, Leija won't fool for this and will fight a smart technical fight often making Gatti look bad. However in the end I think Gatti's overall size will earn him a KO by stoppage in the 10 or 11. enadeus 01-24-2005, 06:17 PM Leija has no chance. Gatti KO in under 8 rounds. Floydmayweather 01-24-2005, 06:24 PM Gatti is to big of a puncher Leija leaves himself open somtimes in exchanges and it will be his downfall. Sister Sledge 01-24-2005, 07:04 PM Gatti is the bigger, more powerful guy, and he boxes pretty good now that he is with Buddy McGirt, but JLL can surprise and he has a lot of experience. He just knows how to win. My pick is Gatti, but I wouldn't be surprised if JLL manages to beat me. Nodogoshi 01-24-2005, 07:21 PM I know Gatti is the favorite but I kinda like Leija to pull off the upset. He showed he can still fight against ojada. Gatti is a better fighter but I think Leija may rise to the occasion and win by a very close decision. enadeus 01-24-2005, 10:12 PM Can someone give me credentials of Leija. He has lost all his major fights including fights to Oscar de la Hoya, Shane Mosley, and Kostya Tszyu. What makes you think that he will beat a fighter who is at his best right now. Leijas last 4 fights included fighters with records of 16-1, 13-7, 17-4, and 16-4. In fact his entire career is filled with fights with second class fighters. All of his major fights have resulted in a loss. He is 3 inches smaller than Gatti, and we all remember what happened last time a smaller fighter, Dorin at 4 inches smaller fought Gatti. His reach is also shorter. Gatti too, has had some losses in his career including to de la Hoya. However his last fights with Dorin (22-0) and Branco (32-0), had great records at the times he fought them, show that Gatti is really in his prime right now. It seems that they are very similiar fighters in how their careers have shaped out, however with the reach and heigh advantage I give Gatti the edge in this fight. Dub Squared 01-24-2005, 11:01 PM I think that this fight will be fought to the end with Gatti coming out ahead in a close decision. Leija will come out and look to attack Gatti who be trying his best to stay with his plan which is to move and box his way to winning. Eventually, say round 4-6, Gatti will come back to the person that we know and love. He will begin trading heavy blows, and I think that the last 3-4 rounds of this fight may possibly become an all-out slugfest. Definitely a fan's fight, picking Gatti by UD, setting up him and PBF if he ain't in jail this sumnmer. WillieW 01-24-2005, 11:21 PM James bleeds more than Gattti....more than anyone actually. It will be stopped on cuts in the mid rounds. Gatti wins...James gets another scar. Sister Sledge 01-24-2005, 11:57 PM Can someone give me credentials of Leija. This fight is pretty meaningless in a sense that these are two second-tier fighter. But to a boxing purist, this is a fight we love because these guys are so closely matched. Don't get hooked up on records because Dorin and Branco are garbage. This will be a great fight. nadz 01-25-2005, 12:16 AM Yes I Go Also For Gatti On This Fight To... GasPed 01-25-2005, 12:23 AM Gatti has all the physical advantages in this one, and he tends to do very well when he has these. Unless he starts getting old in this fight, I don't think Leija can match up... Mikeystlasvegas22 01-25-2005, 12:45 AM Gatti is to big of a puncher Leija leaves himself open somtimes in exchanges and it will be his downfall. Clay AikSkins 01-25-2005, 01:34 AM Leija wins by stoppage due to cuts. Gatti's eyes swell when he blinks them. jpboxer3 01-25-2005, 01:59 AM Can someone give me credentials of Leija. If you compare Gatti and Leijas record, there's no quesstion that Leijas has been in with the better opposition.Just by looking at Leijas record, you can see that he's never backed down from a challenge. He's fought Nelson,DLH,Mosely,Lazcano,Ward,Zoo to name a few.Leija maybe older age wise, but I think as far as wear and tear in the ring,I think Gattis definetly a tad bit older.Leijas lived a clean life outside the ring while Gattis had his problems with the bottle in the past. And NO,theres no way Gatti is still in his prime,LMAO! Alot of you sound like it's a sure bet that Gatti destroys Leija Saturday night. Here's a couple of reasons why I dont think this will be a walk in the park for Gatti. 1.Gatti cuts easily and also has that bad right hand. 2.Leija held his ground against Zoo.I think Zoo would outclass Gatti with ease,so if Leija can stand his ground against the best p4p 140pounder,then why not Gatti? 3.Oscar De La Hoya The last man to KO Gatti is the promoter of Leija.Do ya think DLH is helping Leija prepare for this fight, lol. 4.Leija has played the role of the spoiler before,so this is nothing new.I know alot of you want to see Gatti-Mayweather but dont hold your breath especially when the guy you want to win is facing Mr Spoiler himself. 5.Very few times has Gatti made a fight easy on himself.Gatti made a short night in his last fight, but I doubt he gets past Leija without a few bumps & bruises and maybe even a loss?I dont see this fight being easy for either fighter but I know the winner of this will have earned the victory. mr. bojangles 01-25-2005, 02:38 AM *Gatti wins this one easy. *A megabuck fight with PBF around April~June should be expected. Around the same period as Tszyu-Hatton. *Hopefully the winners will fight each other...Gatti-Tszyu. Floydmayweather 01-25-2005, 12:10 PM Gatti and Leija will trade and Gatti will win end of story. marvelous_TG 01-25-2005, 12:16 PM Gatti and Leija will trade and Gatti will win end of story. Indeed they will trade but gatti is the bigger harder punching man, with the better chin and has mad heart. All those wars gatti was in and will be in must be really bad for your health. Don't get caught on a fighter's record because I've seen many undefeated fighters who are garbage and some who've lost almost as much as they've won (Emanuel Augustus comes to mind) who are very good and very tough. Records are deceaving. I think Gatti will pull this one out but by no means am I counting Leija out. Everyone thought it would be an easy night for Mojado (get it? lol) but it ended up going Leija's way. Look for Leija to go all 12 rounds and he might even pull it out if Gatti hurts his hand(s) in this one. jpboxer3 01-25-2005, 12:57 PM Don't get caught on a fighter's record because I've seen many undefeated fighters who are garbage and some who've lost almost as much as they've won (Emanuel Augustus comes to mind) who are very good and very tough. These two have similar records, and I cant see how anyone can favor one over the other based on their records alone. They both have 6losses,and their common opponents are Ruelas,DLH and Ivan Robinson.Leija actually has more wins(47) than Gatti(38). Gattis 6 Losses: Soloman,Manfredy,Robinson(x2),DLH,Ward Leija 6 Losses: Ruelas,DLH,Nelson,Mosely,Lazcano,Tszyu I honestly think this fight is 50/50.I like both fighters but since 95% of you think this is a easy win for Gatti,i'l have to go with Leija. marvdave 01-25-2005, 01:24 PM Leija is a good veteran and will make it exciting for a few rounds. Gatti will eventually overpower him and get the tko by round 6. Look for cuts in this one, possibly on both guys. PRboxingfan 01-25-2005, 01:45 PM These two have similar records, and I cant see how anyone can favor one over the other based on their records alone. They both have 6losses,and their common opponents are Ruelas,DLH and Ivan Robinson.Leija actually has more wins(47) than Gatti(38). While what you say is true, Leija is a much older fighter in the twilight of his career while Gatti is still relatively fresh and newly rejuvinated with McGirt in his corner. I see it as a dificult task for Leija to outbox Gatti but, then again, if he comes in in top shape he has a very good chance at the upset. The smart money is on Gatti but it should by no means be a blowout. BIGPOPPAPUMP 01-25-2005, 02:04 PM Gatti is way too big for Jesse. As much as I like Jesse, he is going to get KTFO! xrhythmxnxbluesx 01-25-2005, 02:09 PM gatti will win no doubt... stix 01-26-2005, 02:01 AM :D My man Gatti by TKO. I like Gatti big and early.....KO in 3. hey dude, i like it better this way, MISMATCH!!! gatti by a mile... kadyo 01-26-2005, 02:47 AM Gatti will play with Jesse James in the first few rounds then rape him in the middle or late rounds. :D jpboxer3 01-26-2005, 03:48 AM Get ready for Leija-Mayweather this Summer, lol. I like Gatti but I think he's overrated.I see this fight looking more like Gatti-Ward 1 than Gatti-Dorin. PacKillsMorales 01-26-2005, 04:22 AM Love your pacman signature picture :D hope it comes true. cmason 01-26-2005, 04:56 AM gatti should win this, if he can't beat a 39 year old leija he has no business being in with mayweather. leija is a tough guy who's had a great career but gatti will stop him around the 6th. SonnyJ 01-26-2005, 05:44 AM I don't know how good gatti will look in the opening rounds against a style like jesse's. but he should win by a tko, or a cut, later rounds, RD 10. |
