throw it closer to your face. that way your shoulder is tounching your chick. sorta like how tyson throws his. its very difficult to tell when some1 is throwing it. plus u get more speed when throwing it like that

The jab can be used in varies ways and can be thrown with many combination. You can break the rythem of throwing the jab 1,2,3,4, times, you can feint the jab. You can shoot low, then throw a right, or feint a shoot low, come up top with a hook. You can also send in with a jab, or feint step in and throw another punch. You can throw an uppercut off the jab. Basicly learn to throw the jab in varis ways, but most imprtantly learn to throw a jab, how and when it can be used, which is almost every situation if you got an educated jab and if you are cofident in throwing the jab. I used to use it as a defensive tool as well as an offensive tool.

You can't really use the jab in isolation, unless you have a great jab like Larry Holmes or Ali. But there are various ways to use the jab, e.g. jab low (to drop the guard) and cross high, double jab (draw the parry and jab again in the open spot), jab to draw out the guard and hook off the jab, jab with the thumb or laces, flick the jab to blind the other guy temporarily, jab from the Philly guard with good upper body movement to stay close and open the opponent, jab the cut or closing eye, jumping in with the jab, like converted southpaw Hagler used to do, etc.

I disaggree, practice makes perfect, but first you have to know what you're doing. Theres a lot of information out their books, boxing matchs, coaches. If you really want to learn how to use the jab, study and practice and more importantly use what you are practicing in sparring -very important.
