I live in Louisville, KY and I am getting ready to start training this summer. Right now I am working on losing some weight and building some muscle. I reguraly go to a gym and eat pretty well. But since I'm new I had a few questions.

1. I am really looking to get into competitive boxing, is 16 too old to start competitive boxing? I hear about all these boxers who started when they were like 10. I'm doing this with 110% determination so I'm hoping to make it big in the boxing scene.

2. How much water should I drink? I carry a bottle with me all the time and probably drink about 8 or 9 bottles or water a day.

3. Should I work the same muscles out everyday at the gym or should I switch it up between cardio, upper body lifting, and legs?

Thanks guys

They just opened up that new Ali center down there I hear, so you should have some inspiration. The water thing is way over-rated. It's a New Age thing. Just make sure you are hydrated before you work out, and eat a balanced diet. You need to do different things every day, as well as some of the same things, e.g. shadow boxing, hitting the bags, sparring. You can do the same things differently in order to hit the same muscles in different ways. For instance, there are many ways to work the speed bag or heavy bag.

Sounds like you really want to learn/train/beat someones head open. The best thing for you to do at this point is find a trainer. If he's a good one he'll layout a whole plan for you and keep you motivated.

If you're on your own right now, get on a steady diet, the amount of water you drink is unnecessary but won't hurt you, especially if you are doing your work. Cut down on eating the junk foods, if any at all. Big breakfast, nutritious snacks, etc. but most of all get a trainer if you're serious.
