Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. just won his first 8 round bout in front of a sold out crowd in Culiacan Mexico. The bout was the Main Event of the evening and was broadcasted on the Sky Channel all throughout the country. His next fight will be February the 11th against an opponent yet to be named and will be the main Event on Telefutura. This will be the first time Telefutura has an 8 rounder as main event. Chavez's Jr. crowd attracting success however suggests it wont be the last.

He fights at lightweight but that probably wont be for long. He looks alot like Erik when he was at 122lbs. Too physically big for the weight. In this last fight chavez weighed in at 139 1/4 and his opponent 137. Only he still looks like a teenager. Once his body hardens up it will be impossible for him to make 135 imo.

I didnt see the fight however i have seen him fight and his style is a lot like his dad's going forward, occasionally backing off to set his fighter up and land hard punches. There are few defensive/offensive countering techniques which are identical clones to his old man. He still has a lot to go though and he admits to it as he had basically no amateur career. He seems like he has a lot of power though.

I only saw him once, when he fought this one white kid.

Yeah I've only seen him in the Morales/Hernandez undercard against that white kid who looked like he had never been in a ring. I really couldn't gauge his talent but since he's JCC's kid I'm sure he's got boxing in his blood.

They are not trying to pad his record, u just cant toss that kid into the wolves if you expect him to be good. He's never had an amateur career. The kid he fought at his father's goodbye fight was very decent. He definitely went in there to be the one who beat chavez's kid. He is still green, what u want them to throw him in with castillo or something?

not that high of caliber opponent... maybe decent enough to give him a good lesson... learn from it... not to beat the hell out of him...
we'll see, if he will be like his old man... time will tell...

The name alone is an atraction. His father has left him a legacy that is very difficult to approximate let alone match or surpass.

I saw Chavez Jr. lay a lickin down on that Ryan cat the other day on the Pacquaio-Morales PPV. He did not look all that impressive. I think with his height, when he fills out he will be a middleweight or welterweight. Then he will get his head taken off. He doesn't have the power. I think that he will be held back for at least 2 more years before he sees any serious competition.

i hope he becomes great it will be good for boxing, how many farther all tiem greats have had a son who matched his?

yes, i hope this kid becomes great only time will tell, but for now he needs alot more fights....
