I was at the gym last night when a young, training Golden Gloves fighter came in. While getting ready I noticed him putting vic's vapor rub up his nose with a q-tip. I asked him and he said it would help prevent bleeding and clear his nose to breathe better. Anyone here do this or see anyone doing this?

nope but seems like a good idea.. even though i never bleed.

Thanks for the reply DcBoxin. Well I just wondered. Probably a stupid newbie question but I've seen boxers snorting something in thier nose before fights. There's even a scene in Rocky that shows both fighters prepareing and they spray a liquid of somesorts up thier noses. Is that a decongestant so they breathe better?

thts a good idea , my nose is always blocked and i have to breath through my mouth

sounds lieka good idea..but usally when i work up a lil sweat my body usualyl clears up..never really ha da stuffy nose...

I asked this question on a Martial Arts Forum I'm on and was told that putting Vic's in your nose could be unhealthy. Few people said it caused them respitory infections. SUCK! The decongestant was suggested over Vic's on that site.

u know i tryed that last time i sparred and it kinda worked. got my thinking better too.
