Diaz (WBA Lightweight) might be going up to light welter to face ricky hatton in the latest reports coming out, they have a great match in styles if this fight comes off and diaz is ok at moving up in weight could be a classic, there is no one else ricky can fight bar vivan harris atm until august time. Ricky TKO round 10 if this fight ever comes off which is seeming more and more likely as time goes by!

I think this is a horrible matchup, & pointless.

Diaz.....has never fought at 140. He has virtually no power at 135, so you have to imagine he'll be hitting with even less effect at 140.

He is really a high volume puncher, though not the swarming type. He throws fast, well-put together combos...but isn't a boxer.

Basically, he's going to slug it out with a more experienced, more mature, stronger, & harder punching guy who excells at slugging.

i would say its pointless, but its most likely the best fight out there atm for ricky hatton until all the other boxers are finished with there bouts!

It seems as if Hatton has been rumored to be fighting just about anyone around today.
I think this fight with Diaz may be more competitive than some people in boxing think.
The advantage has to go to Hatton, but I can't recall any boxer ever submitting Ricky to a heavy body attack.
The Diaz youngster seems to like aiming in the torso area from what I have seen of him, and maybe can take some of the steam out of Hatton's "engine room"?
They both move around the ring pretty good and are two good jabbers when they want to be, I think.
Juan Diaz has not been fighting and Hatton has, and that is a big edge right there, and he does not appear to have a big punch like you said.
I would agree with everyone that Hatton should win but it may be a difficult victory for the Hitman.

jackslack - you can't sugarcoat this pos fight dude. its a **** fight. what he should do is fight collazo @ 147 for a belt if nothing @ 140 can materialize. theres already a contract signed on collazo's part. now that'd be a fight.

I've yet to hear of a fight that would be true test for Hatton. Diaz is a very good Lightweight, but he still has much to learn. He's only 22, and he shouldn't be moving up yet, IMO. If Hatton wants to really gain the respect of his neigh-sayers, he needs to lay it all on the line, and start issuing challenges. He won't have much problem with the smaller, less experienced "Baby Bull". There aren't a whole lot of options for Hatton, but he doesn't seem to be in a hurry anyway, especially considering how fat he looked on ESPN. I'll believe he's fighting when the contract's signed, because this is about the tenth different opponent he's been rumored to be facing. I thought Diaz was granting Lakva Sim a rematch... this doesn't clear much up.

This matchup would be so wrongif it happens. The "Baby Bull" is exactly that a friggin' baby. This is insane this "Bull" Diaz kid can and will seriously get hurt in there against a heavy-duty AND dirty fighter like Hatton. The matchup I find intriguing for Hatton's American debut would be against the other Diaz, the one who fought Castillo. He actually hung w/ JLC until he got ktfo!
