I actually got a tear in my eye upon hearing this.
Some of you younger members probably don't understand what an impact this guy had on American life. The true "King of late-night T.V."......my life would have had many, many fewer laughs without him.
He died quietly in his sleep surrounded by family.
R.I P. and thanks for all the great moments.

He will deffinatly be missed. He was truly great at what he did. He had a special talent of making his guest seem funny even when they weren't. He'd always make himself the joke before he would embarass any guests. I'm at the age where i'm starting to see alot of people die that were big when I was young. Life is short, enjoy it why you've got it.

MAN! Isn't THAT the truth!
I woke up the other day and I was FIFTY ONE YEARS OLD! I recall my mom and dad saying the same thing as you...life is short. I thought as little about it as these guys are thinking now.
The only way to escape this horrible fate is to die young and who needs that sh*t?? :D

And sheer genius when you think about it. How much easier for a writer to come up with one word or phrase and then make it funny with the "answer".

I agree.

And may the flea's of a thousand yaks infest your armpits. :p

No offense to Johnny! I loved Carson's Comedy Classics... But some of you older members probably don't understand what an impact Dimebag Darrel had on American music and Metal! So now I think we're even, right?

No offense,
But you can't even put "Dimebad Darrel"
In the same category as Johnny Carson. People grew up with this man, and to see him die is a total shock, and brings sadness to alot of people. Dimebag Darrel was a crack addict guitarist from a band who nobody even liked. I'm 16, I'm younger, and I don't appreciate that guy the least bit. It is defnitely a tragedy that he died performing at a young age, but he's no Johnny Carson. Sorry, I don't see this guy in the same league as Johnny. RIP Johnny Carson :(

It has nothing to do with them being in the same league! The point was that B-dog made fun of my thread about Dimebag being murdered on stage. So I was just kind of returning the favor. How can you say he was a crackhead THAT NOBODY LIKED? Pantera has sold millions of records! That means that they have millions of fans! How was it a total shock to see Johnny die? He was 80 years old and died in his sleep!!! Dime was 38 and was shot and murdered ONSTAGE while playing! Now that was a shock! Obviously Johnny was more famous here in the U.S. but it might be pretty close on a national level. The point was that what happened to dime was so ****ed up for so many reasons! What happened to Johnny was inevitable! You being 16 must of seen something on fuse or mtv to let you know how well respected Dime was in Metal! Even the guitarist from creed (Mark Tremonti) had a picture of Dime on his guitar when he was on Jay Lenno, the guy who took over for Johnny!
