Winky 02-28-2006, 03:15 PM Since its obvious hes not coming back i just wanted to get your guys opinions on Lennox Lewis the fighter....anyone that knows me knows i have put him in my top 3 heavyweights of all time.I think for his time there was no one close.......the only problem i have is that he never put that beating on riddick bowe that i so desperatly wanted to see........so what does Lennox Lewis the boxer mean to you?
RAESAAD 02-28-2006, 03:26 PM My favorite HW of all-time personally and I have him in the top 10 all-time HW ranking.I think 3 is a little high but everyone has a right to their opinion......either way Lennox was great. :boxing:
bigsmoothh 02-28-2006, 03:26 PM he was an oscar de la hoya type of boxer built by the media, sports commentators, liked by many. he got dropped a couple of times and even lost by ko to some junkie. whats so great about that. if he was the real champ that wouldnt of happen he also fought a way past his prime frank bruno and hugged his way on the tyson fight. yeah real champ.

Do you even watch boxing?
The_One77 02-28-2006, 05:01 PM he's rated number 5 on my all time list
TheEvilSaint 02-28-2006, 05:39 PM lewis was one of the best, but i wouldnt even put him anywhere near the top ten greatest.
SonnyG8R 02-28-2006, 05:59 PM He will be remembered as a top 7-12 heavyweight. No way in hell does he crack the top 5. Getting KTFO twice by a couple of journeymen puts an end to that argument.
paul750 02-28-2006, 06:02 PM They wern't as bad as journeymen be fair.
SonnyG8R 02-28-2006, 06:04 PM They wern't as bad as journeymen be fair.
They were mediocre at best. Lennox was probably top 10, not top 5. I think that is very fair
TheEvilSaint 02-28-2006, 06:05 PM They wern't as bad as journeymen be fair.
great fighters dont get KOd by one punch from journeymen.
UnderControl- 05-13-2006, 09:10 AM Lennox Lewis was a very good boxer and a good champion. I often did not like the way he fought or boxed, but he knew what he had to do to win.
On the other hand he never beat a great fighter in his prime, Tyson, Holyfield, even Tua was not at his best.
beezy 14 05-13-2006, 10:13 AM I think he was top ten not top 5 tho, however he probably was a top 5 talent in the HW division. He had a good combination of size and skill with a tremendous jab. If he had fought Bowe and beat Tyson in his prime and won that gold metal at the usual age 18 or so instead of coming back at 22 to do it against younger fighters. Then I think his legacy would be a little more complete, and the last thing that hurt him somewhat was his dull personality. That's not his fault but it's just the way things go unfairly or not.
