View Full Version : Who is the most arrogant
tonytucker 01-22-2005, 03:04 PM I'm thinking Chris Eubank, Naseem Hamed.Naseem was nasty but I liked Eubank-that guy was unreal. At the end of the rounds he used to stand there for 5 seconds or so posing like a bodybuilder or something. Then he would walk back to his corner. That guy cracked me up the way he acted so pompously.Later brother brolog.
Most arrogant ummm...that would have to go to mayorga. Letting people hit him, walking up to his opponents with his hands down. Cussin em out in the middle of the fight. Gotta love it
!!Captain 01-22-2005, 03:29 PM Toney would be my pick. Lewis would take the second place.
Marjoh 01-22-2005, 03:40 PM Toney is among my list.
SweetScience 01-22-2005, 04:26 PM Ali was the most humble.
ophqui 01-22-2005, 04:29 PM Probably ali, but on a more recent note tarvers a pretty close second.
adeelr 01-22-2005, 04:38 PM Muhammad Ali, Naseem Hamed, Roy jones, Mayorga, Antonio Tarver are to name a few.
Mike Tyson Jr. 01-22-2005, 04:56 PM roy jones junior
Fareastwarrior 01-22-2005, 04:56 PM James Toney, Muhammed Ali, Prince Naseem Hamed
MlLkMan 01-22-2005, 04:58 PM Most arrogant ummm...that would have to go to mayorga. Letting people hit him, walking up to his opponents with his hands down. Cussin em out in the middle of the fight. Gotta love it
yea, hahhahhaha
Fistecles 01-22-2005, 05:01 PM I saw a documentary of Jack Johnson the other day. I have too say, the things he was doing and saying-for his time-was pretty arrogant.
The Phantom Menace 01-22-2005, 05:33 PM James Toney
jpboxer3 01-22-2005, 05:40 PM Hector Camacho Jr.
Arrogant SOB that made a short lived Career in boxing off his fathers name.He proved to be a little b$%&* when he fought tough journeyman Omar Weis.....
The Fix 01-22-2005, 07:12 PM lennox lewis doesnt have to try to be arrogant. i know guys like toney, jones and ali did it for show but lewis just comes off ****y when he doesnt mean to.
scramwarrior 01-22-2005, 07:15 PM The most arrogant, no question, has got to be John Ruiz. He thinks his body is so spectacular that he has to rub it on everyone for 12 rounds.
trinidadpr87 01-22-2005, 08:08 PM I'd say Glen Johnson he thinks he's the ****. :D j/k hahahahaha
hollister 01-22-2005, 08:31 PM The most arrogant, no question, has got to be John Ruiz. He thinks his body is so spectacular that he has to rub it on everyone for 12 rounds.
That's ****ed up lol, I hadn't thought of that.
bonafuwa 01-22-2005, 08:37 PM Lennox Lewis comes of as, not arrogant, but soo f-ing self confident. Arrogant? I would say James Toney and Hamed. Someone mentioned Eubank and that post cracked me up! He was a character.
SonnyJ 01-22-2005, 08:58 PM mundine and toney
nelsoncm 01-23-2005, 02:36 AM Zab Judah - a mouthy underachiever
Ali - a mouthy overachiever
Hamed - a mouthy, ****y clown
AIR_KENG 01-23-2005, 02:42 AM yea, hahhahhaha
ali would be on my list, but at least he had the skill to back it up... what great fighters are made of...
Clay AikSkins 01-23-2005, 03:55 AM Floyd has to be the p4p current most arrogant after 2nite....I like Vick comment while pummeling Henry. But hey if u can back it up it's all good.
The Golden Boy 01-23-2005, 04:21 AM James Toney - Mr. I could beat anyone if i didnt suffer all these steroid induced tendon tears.
Lewis by the way he talked after the fight with klitschko.
So arrogant it was funny.
My vote goes to Naseem Hamed, Roy Jones jr, and back in the day~Muhammad Ali. The body rubbing remark about John Ruiz cracks me up. That's some funny **** man. I've got to admit, Mayorga's pretty damn arrogant also.
tonytucker 01-23-2005, 10:46 AM James Toney - Mr. I could beat anyone if i didnt suffer all these steroid induced tendon tears.TNT once said that Toney was on steroids, and was accused of smoking crack cocain. Later brother brolog.
Bryght 01-23-2005, 11:33 AM Absolutely Zab Judah. All show and no go. His biggest fights are his biggest losses with another one coming up against Spinks. Maybe he should get into wrestling where at least he'll KNOW when he'll lose.
In the past, Lummox Lewis (who cluelessy called himself the "real" heavyweight champion). He got his ass kicked by Vitali Klitschko for six rounds before being rescued by the WBC ringside doctor (who no doubt made some big-time cash for stopping the fight when he did) and still had the ego to raise his hands like he actually did well.
Vitali pounded his overrated ass into retirement.
Mr. Ryan 01-24-2005, 02:33 PM Vitali Klitschko
------------------
I was backstage at the Kirk Johnson fight with my friend Anthony Espinoza who was fighting on the undercard that night. Me and him were just talking about the Mesi fight and who won by his door, and he comes out screaming "This is my room, no one is supposed to be near it." The guy is an *******, boxers are supposed to show up and shake hands with everyone for respect.
Mr. Ryan 01-24-2005, 02:35 PM My old trainer Jimmy Dupree was a regular of fighting on Ali undercards, and he said Ali was a pompous ******* as well. Ironically, he said Sonny Liston was a very nice, down to earth guy.

Princess Naseem Hamed
Mr. Ryan 01-24-2005, 02:38 PM Prince Naseem Hamed
But he was funny as hell! I enjoy some arrogance in the ring, so long as it's funny. Chris Eubank and The Prince were funny, Lennox Lewis was not.
jedihillis 01-24-2005, 02:43 PM Naseem Hamed. I just watched a few of his fights. I can't freakin stand that guy. He's needs to get his ass kicked.

He did, against Barrera. I thought his entrance against Wayne McCullough was the funniest. When he was coming in to Thriller by Michael Jackson and looked at the camera and uppercutted the skull. He was cool as hell. Then he did the no look right jab to Wayne, predicted not just the round but the minute and second of the knockout. He was funny.

Hated him but he did it his way! The best thing of all he took some of our money, and laughed all the way back to Sheffield. He probably still has more money than " Terrible " , M.A.B., and Pac combined.

Johnny_Rocket 01-24-2005, 06:08 PM Hamed was ****y but at least was entertaining. I would agree with the people saying James toney is the ****iest. This man has a comment for everyhting.
Floydmayweather 01-24-2005, 06:25 PM Ali without a doubt.
Zab"The Magic Man" Salita 01-24-2005, 06:51 PM how can James toney not own this thread, he's a fat bastard that does nothing put talk

Mr. Ryan 01-25-2005, 01:17 PM how can James toney not own this thread, he's a fat bastard that does nothing put talk
...and win.
jack_the_rippuh 10-31-2006, 09:10 PM I'm glad that you're a Hamdan fan, Tony.
Oddly enough, 'Bank use to have no memory of the poses he use to strike.
He once claimed that it wasn't him doing it.
deuce_drop 10-31-2006, 09:21 PM the arrogant thing is completely unoriginal. i think it's lame as **** personally, but the one who i think is really arrogant and can't stand to listen to talk himself up is Malignaggi....................dude damn near masturbates on himself during interviews. maybe that's how he gets his hair to stand up the way he does. is that hair gel paulie?
+= El Jefe=+ 10-31-2006, 09:32 PM "i've seen George Foreman shadowbox,
The Shadow won...."
lets leave it at that....
Kid Achilles 10-31-2006, 11:20 PM Eubank was a strange, strange personality. I wish I was a fan back then to appreciate it.
BigSlick 10-31-2006, 11:26 PM Even though Ali was arrogant at times he always gave props to Joe Louis and Ray Robinson.
James Toney is an aroggant prick
BmoreBrawler 10-31-2006, 11:35 PM pbf, naseem hamed, RJJ.
GEOFFHAYES 11-01-2006, 03:34 AM Eubank: "Gentlemen, I'm far superior to every one of you in this room. I know nobody is perfect, but I honestly feel I'm closer to perfect than anybody I know of."
Reporter: "So you consider yourself the perfect boxer?"
Eubank: "You see, that's why I'm far superior to you people. No comment, I won't say another word."
- New York press conference to promote Benn/Eubank II
(all the middleweights and super-middleweights champions were present as well as all the NYC boxing scribes etc)
GEOFFHAYES 11-01-2006, 03:35 AM "I'm a saint" - Eubank, post-fight press conference after Benn II
Chris meant it.
He loved himself.
Southpaw16 11-01-2006, 04:19 AM Absolutely Zab Judah. All show and no go. His biggest fights are his biggest losses with another one coming up against Spinks. Maybe he should get into wrestling where at least he'll KNOW when he'll lose.

Rescued by the ringside doctor!!?? Klitschko practically had a ***** on his eyebrow, did you see the size of that cut!!!!! There is no way they could have let that fight continue.
I think that the most arrogant I've ever seen is Audly Harrison. He talked about transcending the sport of boxing and **** like that.
eazy_mas 11-01-2006, 04:34 AM boxers should be arrogant to the public but some are arrogant inside out.
For example Mayweather jr trash talks but he trains 100% effort for each of his opponent if it was Baldomire, Zab or anyone and even Brussels fight where he talk to Lamply during the fight he actully was training hard for it.
but some fighter a talented but they trash talk too much for example is James Toney and Zab Judah.
Tarver is not ****y but he really want some reckonation for what he is done. nobody actully KOed Roy Jones before him and even Glen did it in the 8th round and he got it from Tarver the Roy Jones weakness
tito yuca 11-01-2006, 04:50 AM Floyd says he's better than Ali and Robinson. That by itself is enough to rank him #1.
I think the 3 arrogant asses in boxing are Toney, RJJ, and Mayorga.
Zab also thinks too highly of himself.
There are also others such as Fernando Vargas and Paulie Malignaggi who display a thug-like badass persona and may speak too highly of themselves at times, but they have shown respect to other fighters, especially recently. Not that they had a choice, cuz Shane and Cotto DESTROYED them, but at least they weren't ****ty losers.

what would you wanna them to say before they come to fight.
Vargas: " Yes i am gonna get schooled and KOed brutally i not as good as shaen is."
Paulie: " I knew i am going to lose but i just came into the fight to get some beating."
This is boxing if you dont come in with the right mentality you it better to hang your gloves. Even if people say your going to lose you have to fight as if your going to school the guy or KO him other than that they are paid to do so.
I dont wanna see a PPV if both said like that. nobody ever will
The Coagulator 11-01-2006, 07:40 AM I'm thinking Chris Eubank, Naseem Hamed.Naseem was nasty but I liked Eubank-that guy was unreal. At the end of the rounds he used to stand there for 5 seconds or so posing like a bodybuilder or something. Then he would walk back to his corner. That guy cracked me up the way he acted so pompously.Later brother brolog.I would have to say Floyd Mayweather Jr. He told Sugar Ray Leonard that if they had fought when Sugar was at his prime, Floyd would have whooped him. Floyd better than Sugar Ray Leonard?????Better than Sugar Ray Robinson? Give me a ****ing break...and the ****iest part was he said to Sugars face..bold...but full of ****....!
Reich 11-01-2006, 09:23 AM Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Toney...

Why does it have to be one of these two extremes? People like Oscar for example don't go into a fight like that. It's OK to have confidence, but to insult the other fighter and make outlandish claims is not the only way for boxers to go into fights.
blockhead 11-01-2006, 10:04 AM fraud mayweather junior. roid jones (the most over rated fighter in history)
both of them are **** and that is what makes their arrogance so deplorable.
jai mari078 11-01-2006, 10:32 AM PBF no contest!!!!!!!!!!!
Mishra100 11-01-2006, 11:01 AM Calzaghe comes to mind.
GEOFFHAYES 11-01-2006, 11:03 AM Eubank: "Gentlemen, I'm far superior to every one of you in this room. I know nobody is perfect, but I honestly feel I'm closer to perfect than anybody I know of."
You can't get more arrogant than that! Eubank is the most arrogant man who ever boxed, and the thing is, you knew he truly, actually, genuinely believed it too.
GEOFFHAYES 11-14-2006, 03:48 PM I think that the most arrogant I've ever seen is Audly Harrison. He talked about transcending the sport of boxing and **** like that.
He's just an idiot.
Scar Tissue 11-14-2006, 04:01 PM Naseem was a fake, he wasn't half as arrogant as he seemed imo and in many ways Eubank's great pretender.
Eubank was plain loopey and foolhardy but genuine with it. His mannerisms and his allegiance to the phrase "In accordance with" was all as a result of an inferiority complex, in my opinion. His lisp meant that he couldn't be accepted as a hard-man, so he adopted the opposite route: he humiliated his opponents with his superior wit and intimidated them with his (bizarre) confidence. In the world of celebrity and show-business, Eubank found a world that was far more accepting than anywhere else he'd been in.
Because Eubank was so different from anyone else, he became REALLY delusional. Eubank believed (and still believes) that he was different from any other fighter. He was convinced that he'd never have to fight beyond his prime to pay the bills, or lose to fighters that he'd beat in his prime. Like most fighters who believe this, he was proven very wrong. Eubank earnt more than any of his contemporaries, and was savvy at getting obscene cash out of promoters with minimum fuss, but didn't know how to retain the dosh when he had it.
My favourite Eubank anecdote was when a bicycle tour was travelling through Brighton. A crowd naturally assembled on the path of the tour, which coincidentally was also Eubank's early morning roadwork route. As he passed the crowd, he was encouraged that a whole crowd had assembled to watch him train, and waved to them, oblivious to all the cyclists which were desperately trying to avoid him.
My favourite Eubank quote was from when he was asked if Don King exploited boxers- "I'm not the man to ask: I exploit promoters." I suspect Frank Warren took a lot of pleasure by matching an old Eubank with Joe Calzaghe.
rocco1252 11-14-2006, 04:13 PM yeah I'd have to say Mayweather, Toney, Eubac, and Mayorga are all on the top of my arrogant list
GEOFFHAYES 11-14-2006, 04:26 PM My favourite Eubank anecdote was when a bicycle tour was travelling through Brighton. LMAO!
---------
I think Toney's "I'll fight anyone at any weight, anytime, anywhere. I don't care if you're a flyweight or heavyweight I'm whippin your ass"
Prior to his fight with Washington that made me realize that he was slowly becoming the most arrogant fighter of all time.
He probably is, because of the moving up to heavyweight thing.
paulmmv 11-14-2006, 04:31 PM toney without question
paul750 11-14-2006, 04:42 PM My favourite Eubank anecdote was when a bicycle tour was travelling through Brighton. .
That was pretty funny. lol
GEOFFHAYES 11-14-2006, 04:47 PM With Toney I don't think believes (or means) **** he comes out with, any **** he comes out with, he just hates the world.
Kid Achilles 11-14-2006, 04:53 PM Vitali Klitschko? Most arrogant? LOL You guys should have had some respect and just shut the **** up. If I was Vitali and some guys were hanging out talking while I was tense before a fight, of course I'd be pissed off.
I wouldn't call that arrogance, I'd call it being completely focused on a fight and not wanting to deal with anything else aside from it.

So your saying he was a confidence trickster? I don't know what your saying.
I do know that he considered himself a true boxing master at one point, even saying "Your going to be watching the best fighter in the world tonight" on NBC-TV in the US, when he was fighting on an Azumah Nelson undercard on Bombfire Night. That's when he was watching his own fights over and over and deeply in love with himself as a boxer. I think he sort of transformed in 90/91 though into deeply loving himself as a person more so than a boxer and actually feeling it would be an insult to be considered a master boxer (because he thought he was bigger than boxing, better than boxing, too good for boxing).
Kid Achilles 11-14-2006, 05:00 PM How big were Chris Eubank's neck and waist in his prime? You're not allowed to check the internet.
GEOFFHAYES 11-14-2006, 05:06 PM How big were Chris Eubank's neck and waist in his prime? You're not allowed to check the internet.
I'm guessing his neck was, maybe 17.25 inches and his waist I don't know, 32?
GEOFFHAYES 11-14-2006, 05:09 PM He had a well-muscled neck. His chest measure would of been big, he had very big lat muscles by '93.
Assuming his 'prime' was '93, which it wasn't.
Two Fisted Piston 11-14-2006, 05:15 PM Naseem,Tarver and Toney just seem like absolute ****ing arse-bandits:hitit:
Kid Achilles 11-14-2006, 05:22 PM Eubank had an awesome physique and looked strong as hell for his weight. Who do you have in an armwrestling match, Eubank or Nigel Benn? An eating contest? How about in a "yo mama" style insult-off?
GEOFFHAYES 11-14-2006, 05:25 PM Benn in all three.
Benn was barbell curling 100kg for reps the first time he ever tried, guy was just naturally strong. Benn was a massive eater, like five big meals a day during camp. Eubank only ate once a day. And Eubank was sophisticated, not a "yo mama" man.
Shanus 11-14-2006, 05:27 PM Eubank would win the "Yo mama' contest, I remember him forcefully saying "If ever you spoke about my mother in that manor, I will end you".
True story, he would aswell.
GEOFFHAYES 11-19-2006, 08:35 PM He could punch with "two tonnes of pressure".
