Okay here are the mechanics for the BoxingScene Contest:

Categories
There will be 5 initial categories in which every participant (registered voter) will vote for a winner:

1. Boxingscene Member of the Month – This category aims to recognize members who has contributed to the overall value of the discussion on the Boxingscene forums. The winner of this award has posts that are intelligent, meaningful, sensible, logical, respectable/respectful, carefully thought of and brilliant.

2. Idiot of the Month – This is the opposite of the Boxingscene Member of the Month category. You will vote for a poster whose posts have little or no value at all. The winner of this award has posts that are absurd, ridiculous, nonsense, inflammatory, hateful, degrading, and outright stupid.

3. Thread of the Month – This category recognizes the thread that best appeal to the members of the BoxingScene. You will vote for a thread that is most relevant, worthy of discussion, and adds to boxing fans’ and audiences’ interest knowledge about the topic and boxing in general. The thread doesn’t have to be boxing-related.

4. Newbie of the Month. The same criteria as the Boxing Poster of the Month except that this poster is a new member on the BoxingScene.

5. Avatar of the Month – The best looking and most awesome avatar out there.

How to join
Any BoxingScene member with at least a single post in any BoxingScene threads is an automatic candidate for the BoxigScene Member of the Month and Idiot of the Month for the month the post(s) was/were made. Any new member with less than 100 posts with at least a single post in any Boxingscene forums is an automatic candidate for the Newbie of the Month for the month that the post(s) was/were made. Any new thread started in a particular month is an automatic candidate for Thread of the Month for that period.

How to vote
Only “registered” voters can vote for this contest. Any BS member who wishes to be registered must notify me through this thread or send me a PM. Every registered voter will receive a monthly “ballot” containing all the 5 categories at the end of every month.

Each voter will write down the poster’s username/thread of the candidate he is voting for for that particular month. Every voter must return the ballot with their votes to me (by PM) 3 days before the month ends for tallying. Any ballots received after that period will be disqualified. Any voter can only vote once in a month.

Choosing a winner
The candidate that garnered the highest votes for each category for the month will be declared the winner for that month. Any category that received no candidate/nomination for that month will have no winner. No previous winning avatar or thread can be voted again. I will create a sticky for the winners in the BoxingScene Lounge for quick peek.

Prices
Your name posted on the BoxingScene Award Winners for posterity!

PS: If you want winners to receive cash together with the awards, we can probably pool cash awards by donating points to me. I’m an honest citizen, I promise!

I'm a newbie myself. Could you add another category for Funniest Thread Of The Month? I just read the thread called James Toney really lossed to Dave Tiberi written by Mike Tyson Jr. and could not stop from laughing. He does have a point Dave Tiberi really did win that fight, but the argument that him and ChicoEsquelaNYC get into in that thread is absolutely ridiculous and hilarious. You must read it if you haven't read it yet. That's my vote for thread of the month, if you decide not to make a Funniest Thread of the Month.

Ok. I will vote but I have a problem, this is my first day here so I don't know enough about everyone to vote in certain categories. If I had to vote for idiot of the month for example I don't know who to vote for because I haven't been here long enough to tell. When is the deadline for the votes?

you can leave the catagory blank if you feel that you don't have enough information or don't know everybody around to make an informed decision/vote. but i will suggest that you go around and read posts and take some notes so you can vote wisely.

we are gonna start voting for the month of february, i'm going to send each registered voters a ballot thru pm. the deadline is the last day of every month the voting is on.
