View Full Version : Morales can`t lose his next fight!!
Kimmy 01-21-2005, 08:45 PM I very much doubt that HBO will let Morales lose his next fight as he would then surfer back to back losses and his marketability would be damaged. A pac man lose would also damage their Asian audience. This could be a war that is ruled a draw if they get to the scorecards. But at the end of the day Morales could get the win. He is still the draw card with the Mexican audiences and they won`t let him lose two on the go. Being non title fight also damges his rep if he loses. Morales will not have another loss after this fight, it would be a bad business move by HBO to let this happen!
Epie2 01-21-2005, 09:06 PM Are you saying that this fight's outcome will be decided by HBO?
Kimmy 01-21-2005, 09:14 PM Wouldn`t be the first time....all i`m saying is if Morales loses HBO lose allot of investment having one of their big mexican stars lose two on the go, it would be better for Morales to win as Pac could come back, or a draw would be the perfect result for HBO.
I can`t see HBO letting this fight end in a way that wouldn`t suit them.
Alibata 01-21-2005, 09:59 PM Boxing isn't exactly a squeeky clean sport. But I think you all know that already. Nothing suprises me in boxing anymore. Hope that is not the case.
Chups 01-21-2005, 10:51 PM If it goes to the scorecards then maybe.....a big chance on a Morales win. But hoping that this fights ends in KO.

i don't think so...can you tell me then why hbo "allowed" barrera to win in their last fight...when barrera is less marketable than morales.
i don't think hbo will put their reputation at risk by fixing a fight just like that. keeping morales is not even worth their trouble, there are alot of good boxers out there who can they invest in...c'mmon.. hbo is not stupid enough to even think of doing that especially when espn is looking to siphon off some of their revenues from pay-per-view boxing.

Yes thats a very good and sound observation... A draw would eventually benefit all since their boxers' marketability will remain intact and both would still receive their purse. it can be a fixed draw, but again youre fooling the people. Manny isnt the type of boxer who would play along but who knows ?? its money who makes the world go round. If and when its a fix fight, I just hope Manny would be faking those left and combos. erik might get hurt and kiss the floor.

:p That was the same question that pop up in my head. Both fighters can't afford to lose here that's the truth that's why everybody is expecting a WAR inside that ring.
The way that sounds . . . Pac would be a sacrificial lamb here.

Got a good point dude, but I really doubt if HBO does interfere with fight results. The promoters I believe does but not HBO.
JOM'S 01-22-2005, 07:38 AM EM is a top draw, I don't think his repute will be affected with another loss...
MAB way back then sufferred consective losses, and just a year ago got demolished, but where is MAB now ???
HIS ON TOP OF THE WORLD!!!

hbo couldnt allow barrera to win. he took the fight into his own hands. there was no way to take it away from him.
